  1. Hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this issue.

I often use my Galaxy J7 Pro as a hotspot for my laptops. It feels like since forever that the connection drops in and out quite rapidly, in bursts, connecting and disconnecting the laptops.

When I use my other phone, S5 mini, as a hotspt the connection is stable.

Any ideas what might be causing this behaviour and how to fix it please?

A leaf blower as a christmas present for a femail...I,ve heard it all now.....if he gave her a handbag as well I think it would end up being swiped around his earhole....:cheesy:

    Not so fast.

Reminds me of the year (2010 I think) I bought the girlfriend at that time, now the wife, what was initially to her a rather disappointing Christmas present...a tumble dryer! On the face of it, yeah, not particularly romantic. However it wasn't meant to be a romantic gift but a practical one.

Within a few weeks she'd conceded that it was probably the best gift she'd ever been given. Even the (now) MIL agreed.

Reason being that she'd always had our restaurant tablecloths sent to be washed on a daily basis and most days she'd run out of clean tablecloths. With the tumble dryer she could wash and dry as often as necessary during the day but the real clincher was the Bt300/day cost saving. Within 12 weeks that Bt25,000 tumble dryer had payed for itself and was still going strong before Covid lockdown. Roughly, a saving of just over Bt1 million.

Actually, I think I'll remind her of that today.

  3. What I suggested above has nothing to do with using the SD card for internal storage/adaptable storage as quoted by @RichCor

"Adoptable storage is when you use a regular microSD card and have it act as if it were internal (non-removable) storage on your phone. It's slower than the actual internal storage, can fail if used too much, and once you do it you can never remove the card again unless you reset your phone. That's why many Android device manufacturers don't enable the option.

The SD card remains as external storage.

Have you tried doing what I suggested on your J7 Pro?

I agree with your points. However, I assume that it will not totally be a one off cost, I would think that I will have to replace the battery packs after a number of years.

I can't remeber how many years ago I bought the first of my (now many) Makita 18v tools but 6 years ago, when I bought my circular saw, I decided to buy a spare battery and bought a cheap chinese copy, about 500Bt

Both original and copy are still performing and charging as when new.

  5. I'd personally go with a reciprocating saw over a chainsaw;

    • Convenience - Battery powered
    • Utility - Can be used for many other applications
    • Safety - Due to its operation and relatively light weight

Use with a dedicated pruning blade as per this video.

    Pruning with a reciprocating saw

As far as cost is concerned it's a one off cost for an item that'll be regularly used over many years so good value in my view.

Sure, that´s right. Just my opinion that you will get a more accurate, quicker and better answer from the right support.

Have you ever actually used the Microsoft Community Outlook forum?

If you have, and then received an accurate timely reply, then you have done better than me with several queries over many years.

    @topt

Spot on. That's precisely why I didn't bother.

  7. The Mrs uses web based outlook-live to access her emails whilst I use the Office 365 desktop app.

As the title of the thread states the emails automatically filtering to the junk folder don't autodelete after 10 days as should happen.

I've attempted to investigate the issue on the internet, which appears to happen to many others, but cannot find a solution.

    Any ideas please?

  8. Connected to internet using my phone as hotspot.

Ran CCleaner. All drivers up to date.

    Rebooted.

    Still no connection to router.

So I took the laptop over to the router, only 5 metres away, and it connected.

I've brought it back to my desk and it's remained connected but page loading is slow.

It would appear to be a proximity issue.

But why would it deteriorate over such along period and how can it be fixed?

@david555 Don't have an ethernet cable

  9. I've been using my old work HP laptop as my home desktop for many years now without issue.

Over time I noticed that it temporarly lost connection to my router for short periods, which is in the same room, recently becoming more frequent.

Yesterday it refused to connect. Although it sees the router it says "Can't connect to this network"

I've tried running the troubleshooter (windows network diagnstics) but that simply confirms there's no connection etc.

My other two laptops, a 4 year old Lenovo Thinkpad and 1 year old Surface Pro 6 connect perfectly.

What might be a clue is that the HP only sees my router whilst the other two can see about 12 neighbouring networks suggesting a weak receiver type of thing.

Any ideas to resolve would be most appreciated as I want to give away the HP to a family member to use.

  10. ChouDoufu - Your suggestion put me on the right track to trying out sending images to another device subsequetly discovering that the information was indeed specific to the device opening the file. Logged back in to say what I'd found only to see kekalot's confirmation.

    Nice work folks.

    Appreciate the input.

  11. Just thought I'd step in with my, what I like to believe, objective views:

    PJ said:

"I don't know why they would Simon but I know they do, I can't read their minds mate.

I can only suggest that they come back for more of what they came for in the first place."

The words nail and head spring to mind.

They come back for the same reasons non-Asians come back, of course... and I don't have to rely on reading minds either as I make a point, for my own reasons, of asking our customers from where they come. Generally the response from those [Asians] who speak perfect English is that they are Malaysian or Singaporean and they've been to Phuket many times previously as it's a great short break destination because of proximity and price.

With respect to businesses finding the current climate somewhat challenging, what I'm feeling from this thread is some perception of entitlement.

There are very few guarantees in life and even fewer with respect to future business success, no matter how successful any business has been in the past. This the reality. Those now finding themselves in this situation have to look at matters objectively with possibly having to make difficult decisions.

Speaking for our business, following 14 years of year on year increase in annual turnover and profit made on the back of implementing changes to the business to adapt to changing markets, this has been the first year of flat-lining. I'm unconcerned as we have worked to build up a sufficiently high, sustained profit margin which, even if we were to suffer a huge fall in profits, wouldn't mean the death of our business or even close to struggling.

  12. Cheers PJ

Well pleased with the finished product, service and, most importantly, the noise reduction effect.

Thought we'd do away with the top window light so bricked up the area and skimmed it prior to reduced size door installation.

As you can see 'er indoors put up the curtain pole before painting the plaster.

    Another job!

  13. As promised, here's an update for those who might be searching TV for similar information.

The door unit was installed by Nathan's team some 4 months ago following his visit to survey the job, discuss, advise and provide a quotation.

    5915b9c8cc1ce_uPVCdoor.thumb.jpg.c99873a851cb3fe7b59db825d83b6f32.jpg

Due to work contract commitments this has been my first opportunity to come back to see the finished product first hand and I'm pleased to say that I'm wholly satisfied with both the quality and, much more importantly, the massive reduction in street noise which was really the sole purpose of using double glazing.

In fact, the only time I now hear any traffic noise above the background of our room's air-con is when a particularly noisy, unbaffled motorbike, heavy lorry or dumb-ass tuc tuc blaring out music at high decibels drives by and even then it's heavily muted. Pure bliss.

Would recommend this solution to anyone with the same noise problem. Would also recommend Nathan and his team at PSD.
