  1. Electric scooters are in high demand of late in Korat city, Nakhon Ratchasima province, after fuel price increase. A typical one can run for 50 after being charged once. The charging fee costs 9 baht. Thongdee Lodphukiew, 45, bought one from a shop recently. He said he can’t cope with the rise in petrol price and will use the scooter around residence and buy goods from nearby fresh markets. His expenditure was reduced from 250 baht per week for his motorcycle petrol to 18 baht now. Source: Khaosod English

  11. Donnas Farang Food Shop used to be good... just beside the Pullman hotel. I think that the name might have changed recently to Khon Kaen Food Supply. They distribute for example Koratchef and Gourmet meats products, and salami, curries, steaks etc. are just few of the items available.

    Clinics

There are many clinics in Pattaya and most if not all will accept Mastercard or VISA. Where in Pattaya are you? Can you get a songtheaw or motorbike taxi to get you to one?
  19. I too have had several cysts removed from my neck and back. For the first 7 days after the wound has been stitched up it is advisable to keep it completely dry and get it cleaned and dressed daily by professional nurses in a clinic (not necessarily in a hospital) for about 100 baht inclusive of materials (alcohol swabs and betadine or similar and waterproof bandage). They are trained to look for signs of infection, especially if you are diabetic, and can immediately summon a doctor if required. Stitches are usually removed in 7-10 days time.
  20. I think it looks like Vespidae Polistinae, the common paper wasp. They don't usually attack unless provoked and are actually quite useful in the garden as both a pollinator, and as a predator of caterpillars and other insects. Having said that, as they would be provoked every time you try to put your hand into your letterbox, I would wait until after dark when they are least active, don some heavy full cover clothing including boots and gloves and a mesh screen ( a fishing net does a good job) for your head, then spray the nest liberally with Chaindrite. Repeat aver several nights to catch strays who may have returned to the nest after the initial treatment. Once you feel safe enough, remove the old nest (it's quite soft and made from bark and leaves) and re-spray the letterbox with some surface insecticide. Repeat every 3 months to discourage returnees. Polistinae
