  1. Just a question: Are you talking about Tesco South Pattaya or is it also North and the Expresses?

Major reason for a lack of supply may be, that Tesco South Pattaya is the only Superstore on the way to Jomtien Beach and most visitors to J.B. for the weekend will stop there for their supplies leaving an "empty" store behind.

OK, there a BigC nearby, but it's a real pain to get there and then back on the road to Jomtien.

  2. I've seen the BIB's putting some measuring-device up a truck's _ss once, but that was some 8 years ago.

I guess that the suspended and banned vehicles were part of a collision and not able to drive anywhere.

If the Thai government would have over-thought their 100.000 Baht car scheme a bit, they would have encouraged the owners of polluting cars to invest in a new car with the help of the government.

Now they "sponsored" and allowed more than 1,000,000 new cars on the road of which approx. 600,000 in Bangkok.

  3. Not directly related to this topic, but a bit describing the attitude of some lady boys:

Was passing a lady boy bar in Jomtien Plaza.

I have nothing with lady boys and their attitude, but anyway, I passed the bar and one of those tw*ts shouted.........."Hello darling!".

I didn't respond, because I wasn't its darling and suddenly the switch was turned and the LB started shouting: "<removed> you, _ss hole, why you not speak to me. You hate me?"

So I turned around, looked it straight in the eyes and walked back to it.

I spoke with a soft voice: "Just listen to yourself and ask again..........Why do people hate me? and since I do not know you I can not hate you, I just don't like you". That gave it something to think about.

LB's and I don't match.....there is always a chemistry like cleaning soda with toilet cleaner.........

  4. A small riddle: "4U2"

    Figure it out.

But ok......try to use gestures next time and stick up 2 or 3 fingers or 4 whenever you pronounce a number. Maybe getting difficult at numbers 10+, but Thais themselves also pronounce numbers per digit (ex. 543 = haa - see - saam instead of haa-rooi-see-siip-saam [five-hundred forty-three])

  5. When will they learn that the helmet law is for their own good?

Experience is a bad teacher, because it gives the test first, and the lesson later.

Maybe this girl now understands the importance of helmet laws.......and giving way to traffic.....and driving without a licence......and.......and......

The girl and her family will go to the nearest temple and pray for a good ending of this event and ask Buddha to watch a bit better over the girl in the future.

"Safety First!" is a slogan that is only printed on trucks and at factory entrances, but 99.9% of the people have no clue what it means.

  6. Up to my expiriece: Farangs are always wrong.

Why does people go on spreading those rumors, there are laws in Thailand as anywhere else...

If it's really your experience. something wrong with you.

It must be some kind of feeling that the foreign "victims" experience on encounters with other users of the same road.

It's a bit of a feeling that all minorities all over the World experience..........."We are always wrong and we can't do anything good!"

On the other hand, it is a feeling fed by many (temporary) inhabitants of this great nation.

  7. I've used QSH and also rave about it -- up to a point. The waits are exceedingly long and English is hardly spoken. There are times when I don't mind that, but I'd like an alternative.

It's very close to U-Tapao airport -- at the junction of Sukhumvit and Highway 331.

Good hospital ,the only problem ,is if living in Pattaya and having a heart attack or stroke ,its quite a long way to drive.sad.png

The point is, with a heart attack or stroke: There may be just one hospital able to deal with heart-attacks at the moment that you suffer from one......no choice to be made.

  8. Next time you walk around, keep your eyes open.

Yes, up to 5 years ago, Jomtien Complex was more or less a ghost town, but since then a lot of new ventures opened up (ok, and yes a lot of ventures closed down), but it is a rather lively area with some highlights:

Ganymede Resort, Karaoke and Spa (still expanding), East Suites Apartments and Restaurant, Tapas, Poseidon, The Venue, a Taco Restaurant, Oscar Restaurant, several bars and restaurants........pretty much for a "ghost town".

  9. The farang is only wrong if he is ....... wrong!
The bigger vehicle is in many cases in the wrong and will end up paying for medical expenses of the 3rd party.

Undertaking is allowed in Thailand if there are more than 2 lanes, but on the other hand: You are not allowed to drive on the right side if there is no need to. (Need = upcoming U-turn, right turn, etc.)

  10. I use last year's thread, because this year's PMF is again surrounded by confusion.

Originally PMF was planned 15-17 March.

Not long ago some other dates popped up: 18-20 or 22-24 March.

Whenever it will be.............Que sera, sera!!

  11. So you a judge,

This was no ordinary caning. It was a vicious attack by a teacher on a child. Despicable!

Shame on the family for not taking matters further than the headmaster.

The Police should have been involved, and the teacher should have been charged wiht assault. I believe she deserved a prison sentence of minimum 3 months. Further she should have lost her job -all pension etc earned should be lost and she should never be allowed to work with children again.

If I were the parent - and failing the above - I would take matters into my own hands!

    Vicious cow!!!

So,you are a judge, and would sentence her for 3 months , and if not , you would take matters into your own hands....... !!??

We need more people like you ! [sarcasm]

Prakonchai Nick is not a hair better than the teacher involved and the student who made the video with his or her phone........well.....you know the drill!!

  12. Most of us know the mini-vans as luxury vans with max. 7 seats in the back, a passenger-seat ans a driver-seat.

Probably this was a company commuter vehicle with 12 seats, but more and more mini-vans are able to accommodate 14 passengers.........just imagine!

Since April last year mini-vans aren't allowed to drive any faster than 90 km/h................huhh??

  13. Meeting at 13 February and published on 1 March?

    Wow.........Who needs planning here?

It's about time the Pattaya Mail is going to use e-mail whistling.gif

Just another sound byte. Nothing will change on this subject any more than any other subjects Thailand needs help with. I will be home from the 12th to the 20th. Back when it's over. Have Fun!

clap2.gif I'm out of the country from 23-3 until 23-4...........just in case something is getting mis-planned!

  14. Dont blame the slow-moving bahtbus: blame the person behind who is too close and going too fast to stop in time.

How many more accidents/deaths before they ban rental motorbikes completely? They are a menace.

Ban the rental-companies, ban the jet-skies rentals, ban the baht-buses, ban the boy bars, ban the private hospitals, ban the russian owned gogo-bars...........what will be left to ban.

Just ban the people who don't know how to use what's on offer!!

  15. Just a very simple example of how BKK-PTT works:

On Thursday afternoon, Cardiology and the Consultant predicted that the patient could go home on Friday Afternoon.

On Friday Morning, they made another X-ray, did some tests and Cardiology said.........for whatever reason it's better to stay 2 more days.

The Consultant was surprised, but didn't say much.

The "victims" husband phoned to England, explained the situation to their daughter who is assistant at a cardiology station in a hospital and the daughter came up with some technical questions to be asked to the cardiologist.

The cardiologist immediately backed off and decided within a minute that she could be released on Thursday Afternoon as planned.

Please stop comparing US and UK hospitals and hospital-costs here; the topic is about BKK-PTT Hospital.

Once more it has been proven that BKK-PTT is just a money making machine and a total ripp-off!!

Anyway, all medical files, all bills and a detailed report of the stay from admittance until release will be send to the lawyer.

If you agree on such excessive costs, knowing that it can be done for half, please be me guest and keep up paying.
