Why spend $1,000 for a Tumi or Rimowa when you can get a cheapo bag for $100. Sure, the wheels are gonna break but if its within a year it should be fixed on warranty. I had a Thai made bag from Central and they fixed the wheels for me on warranty. It took 6 weeks but I got it done. Even if they don't fix the wheels, get a new bag for $100 and start over. I can't see paying a Grand for a bag. Are the wheels on a Tumi made of Titanium? I doubt it. You can get 10 decent bags for 1 Tumi.

Fearless leader has made some improvements to the Songkran experience but what are the actual dates? In Pattaya, it was always April 12-19. Now?... I have to know when to get the hell out of here.

Maybe Thailand should follow Korea and be more selective of expats/tourists

Fearless leader is like a carnival barker. " Step right inside the tent folks, everybody welcome. Only a quarter." -
Is S Korea racist towards Thais? Dehumanizing immigration ordeal says yes
LALes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Every country in Asia is racist/xenophobic with their own, peculiar, often demeaning terminology for outsiders. Gwailo in China, Gaijun in Japan, Farang in Thailand... Hey Thailand, karma's a biatch ain't it. -

Prachachuen Clinic in BKK does MRI for 9,000 on a specified area. I had two done recently, one on the lower back and one on the ankle. 9,000 each. They have quite a few locations in BKK.

Khao Pad Goong or Cashew Nut Chicken once every two weeks or so. But, those are "Chinese" so I guess never.

I've had the Hatari AR 12 for about 5 years and I am questioning its capability. I've replaced the filter a few times but it can't get the 2.5 number down under 19-20 even with the machine on high speed for a number of hours. I have a Smart Mi hand held 2.5 meter that is quite accurate. Apparantly, they discontinued this handy. little device but mine still works like a champ. Powered by an old phone charger. I compare the number to what the nearest AQI reporting station has on Air Visual and it is always close. Here in BKK, the air has been horrible lately and the Hatari has been on a lot. When the AQI number goes into the 150-170 range, the machine struggles to get the number down. Forget single digit 2.5 reading, I'd be happy to get it into the low teens. BTW, I went out shopping a few days ago and left some windows open for "fresh" air. When I came back about 4pm, I turned on the meter and it read 71!!!! Gives you an idea how bad the air is in BKK. Turned the Hatari on high and it got the number down to 25 in about an hour. It couldn't do much better than 20 after a few hours. The fan is fine and the filter is new.

No ankle bracelet? How about a collar yoke, instead.

Do women hit on you randomly in Thailand?

The white part definitely applies to Soi Buakhao. The lotus part? Not so much. -
I've been in Jomtien since 2007 and it gets worse and worse every year. More condos, more traffic and nothing else. Nothing good has come of all this "progress". I can't think of one thing that's better in Jomtien now. More bars, more average restaurants, more people, more noise, more traffic. I'd move to Bangkok if I could afford it.

I've had success in the past so take that for what its worth. It was my 85th day back in the country so I figured it was time. Filled out the form as usual and sent it. Success. Now, the wait for approval. In the past, it usually came in a day or so. The next day, I got rejected. I couldn't believe it. I looked at the PDF of the form I sent and the re-entry date was correct. The only other possible reason for rejection would be the expiration date of my visa, which doesn't show up on the form. What could have gone wrong? I know the date. Aaaahh, I probaby didn't change the year in the drop down menu! So I entered the year 2024 and sent it in again. My approval came about an hour later. Easy as pie.

You obviously haven't spent a Songkran in Pattaya. -

A step in the right direction. All that's needed is enforcement; like with so many things in Thailand. -

In 90 days, smog season will be over (except in Chiang Mai) and all will be forgotten until next year's smog season rolls around. Then, it's rinse and repeat. -
can you understand today's actors mumbling on tv?
LALes replied to Pouatchee's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I've got a Samsung 5.1 home theater system and it doesn't do squat for modern movies. The problem is in the mix. Dialogue takes a back seat to special effects in today's dumbed down world. -

Whether they are mumbling or not, today's movies and t v have one problem in common... They mix the dialogue way too low compared to the sound effects. I'm always Running the dialog up to a 100 on the volume only to have to dial it way back down once they stop talking and the sound effects begin. -
