  3. Does anyone have any idea when this will start? I am assuming this includes Aranyapathet as they conveniently fail to mention which crossings they are talking about.

    Aranyapathet is Sa Kaeo.

Just returned from the Choeng Chom Boarder Crossing. The Immigration Officers had no idea what I was talking about sooo went back to Kap Cong Immigration and inquired there(12km), they were very helpful as I normally find them, YES they were aware of this change opening hours of 6 am to 10 pm ( 7 days a week) but not now. They are saying January 1. And as an update Chome Chong Border Crossing is still allowing unlimited 15 day visa exempt entries.

BANGKOK, 29 October 2013 (NNT) - The Cabinet has agreed to extend the operating time of five Thai-Cambodian permanent border crossings by three hours while efforts are being made to maintain the good relationship between the two neighboring countries.

As requested by the Ministry of Interior, the Cabinet on Tuesday gave the green light to the extended opening time of the border crossings located in the provinces of Chanthaburi, Trat, Sa Kaeo and Surin from 7 AM–8 PM to 6 PM–10 PM. The Cabinet also instructed related units to dispatch their personnel to the border areas according to the new service hours.

Regarding the Phra Viharn case, Foreign Affairs Minister Surapong Tovijakchaikul reported during the Cabinet meeting that Cambodia had agreed with the four requests made by the Thai government. The first request is that the two parties maintain their good relations no matter how the court’s verdict turns out. The second request asks that military officers and civil servants stationed on both sides of the Thai-Cambodian border cooperate to maintain peace and order.

Thirdly, the two parties will discuss their land dispute via the Thai-Cambodian Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC) and the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission (JBC). Lastly, the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries will be responsible for holding news conferences to help Thai and Cambodian people understand the situation.

  5. According to the Alcohol Beverage Control Act B.E.2551 (2008 A.D.), under section 28 it states that: “Sale of alcohol beverage is prohibited on the date or time announced by the Minister with consent of the Committee. In this regard, such announcement may indicate conditions and restrictions as deemed necessary.

The provision in Paragraph 1 above shall not apply to sale of alcohol beverage by manufacturer, importers or agents to the sellers authorized by the law governing liquor.

Such act were based on the Announcement Number 253 (dated November 16, B.E. 2515) (1973 A.D.) made by the Council for National Security.

The recent announcement identified eligible hours for retail sales of alcoholic beverages to be between 11.00a.m. to 02.00p.m. and between 05.00p.m. to 00.00a.m.

From this interpretation, only for Liquor Store Wholesalers would be eligible to sell (that is no less than 10 litres per transaction). If less than this, such shall be considered as retailing and a violation of the law. This includes sales of alcohol at a restaurant.

Exceptions were made for Hotel Businesses, airports, train stations, Terminal bus stations, piers (but they must obtain prior approval which can be made at the Local Police Station which is then to be forwarded to Commissioner of the National Police Office). There is no general exception for a restaurant just because they sell food with their alcoholic beverages as is often stated but not so under the actual law.

  8. I have heard that it will be business as usual. The only exceptions are live entertainments which have been delayed to a date to be confirmed. So all the floating krathongs on the river, flying lanterns and playing with things that go bang will go ahead as usual.

What is your rumor source ?whistling.gif

  9. Have no idea with they allow entry without visa/immigrongation exit for foreigners but if not you can obtain a re-entry permit from any real immigration office that allows exit and return to the same permitted to stay date you originally had at a cost of 1,000 baht.

As lopburi said the only 100% guaranty is to go to Kap Choeng Immigration and get a single re-entry permit, cost 1000bt.This would protect your visa and allow you to go stay longer in Cambodia. KCI is about 10 KM before the Chong Chom border crossing.
