Thailand's Revolution: Bangkok Stadium To Become Global Events Hub
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There are plenty of good stadiums around the city.... down the street from me they have visiting EPL teams play in the summer and Lady Gaga performed there. A new subway line is going in, so access shouldn't be an issue The whole proposal smells of brown envelopes IMO -
So what if maybe survive the blast. What do you do then? Step outside and die in a few days or somehow stay inside and die over months from radiation. If I had to choose, I think I'd go with the quick death: pain only hurts if you are alive and aware to feel it. Those who call missiles to hit inside Russia as some sort of escalation are absurd. What do you think Putin has been doing for most of the war? Hitting inside Ukraine. Tit for tat is just fine. The west believes in treating Russian gentle, but first have to get their attention. Should have been blasting Russia from day one of the illegal invasion

Thai PM Criticised for Fashion Choices at Global Summit
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Labor day for most of the world is May 1st. US put it in September so wouldn't be seeming to endorse those socialist leftist commie union types who might want to honor all the people that actually get jobs done -
I watched an Australian documentary a few years back about the plight of Rohingya who try to reach Thailand. They had evidence members of Thai military essentially captured them and sold them across the border to Malaysian factory owners where they are held as virtual slaves with no rights at all. Seems this is ideal example where those who should be part of the solution are major part of the problem

Thai Prisons Assure Religious Rights for Muslim Inmates Amid Scandal

Defense ought to say the meth pills are "appetite suppressors" for that little bit of extra help during holy fasting month of Ramadan. -
Pattaya City councillor ‘paves’ the way for safer roads
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Jomtien Beach Road pathways used to be those interlocking pavers. They did a good job. Then the "improvement" project that cut so many trees down took all the pavers, benches etc out. New pathway was finger thick concrete... ramp supposedly for wheelchairs did not survive the first hard rain, so was plowed under. Joking if you say those paths are stable: immediate falling apart/subsiding near the stairs/"fish ladders" Pavers are better because they are at least thick besides looking better -
Pattaya beach turns into unregulated booze and kratom market
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
I doubt the law is ignored with payment of sufficient "tips" to t he "frequent police patrols": is it safe to assume the police are part of a criminal conspiracy? Residents aren't "baffled by the seemingly powerless enforcement." They know it costs money to de-claw a cat -
Chon Buri police arrest three for trafficking 10 year old Burmese girl
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
"Arrangements were made for the girl’s clandestine entry into Thailand through Tak province." In plain English, does this mean connections and bribes were paid to border guards and immigration officers to "ease the way"? They should be locked up for the double the time of the civilian criminals imo -
Indian Tourist Assaulted Outside Pattaya Convenience Store
Emdog replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
A couple of times check girls have added an item or two for themselves and hoped I didn't notice. For self amusement I like to total the items in my head prior to check out, sometimes put exact amount on counter which dumbfounds them.... So when I point out the "extras" for staff I get a "tee hee" and lame apology. -
Discover Thailand’s dreamiest beaches for your next getaway
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Depends on the flesh. Depends on the beach. But agree... haven't to Lamai since 1982. When the airport was built, I said scratch Koh Samuii off the list or places to return to -
Thailand Considers Nuclear Energy as Gas Supplies Dwindle
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
One surefire way to get me to leave Thailand and move somewhere up wind is Thais having reactors. So many ways to cut corners, endanger current and future lives due to mai pen rai attitude... nope I'd be gone. And how about handling the nuke waste from small reactors: seems ideal situation for those who may wish to make a dirty bomb. A well placed bribe or two and away you go. -

Thaksin Delivers First Speech in 18 Years, Denies Interfering with PM

Early Check-In Coming to Suvarnabhumi Airport by February
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Cut down on congestion? Now a traveler can make TWO trips to the airport (one to check in, one to actually leave) so just how will that relieve congestion.... and as for all that luggage: stored where? Transported to some holding area... giving up space that could be used for any number of useful functions: parking, shopping, customs shake downs..... also give larceny minded baggage handlers more time to leisurely go through your belongings pre-flight. -
Thailand plans 14 new floating solar farms to boost renewable energy
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The clever ones will find a way to burn off the stubble from those solar farms. Burning off is a tradition, and they won't let a bit of water stand in the way of choking the population -
Thais in Los Angeles Protest Against PM Paetongtarn’s Visit
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
was the sentence too long or too hard to understand? The $30k was for flood victims, clearly stated in the article. How much of that actually gets to the people is anyone's guess, knowing Thai officials usual behavior -
Thai businesses urged to monitor US trade policy under Trump
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Now that is a fine example of lack of even the most basic of American values in 2 sentences. What is that cow dung unAmerican phrase "we real Americans"?? Ever hear "E Pluribus Unum"? -
Thai Govt Justifies Thaksin’s Campaign Role in Local Elections
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My take on his time in office is that he recognized there are people, lots of people, that live outside of Bangkok. Typical for admins to oblivious to the masses. Your criticism of Thaksin seems far more on the spot for nearly every other government that has been in power since 1932. Cater to the big mango, screw the rest -
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems most of those who take these holidays are either government employees (I won't use the word "workers") or those at banks. Silver lining might be if gov workers are off those days, it will be one less day they can put the squeeze on people and/or find other means to screw up working people's lives
