Yes , I remember this ... forgot it later ...
They even say : " The visa is renewable every 5 years and the renewal process can be done inside Thailand (requirements for the visa renewal still apply). "
I thought it is renewable just once after the first 5 yrs have passed ... but , may be it's kind of a typo ... ?
Yes it is a 10 year visa, renewed once after 5 years. then i presume you need to sort something else out, as this visa only started in 2016, none will have held it 10 years yet

Have not read that anywhere regarding the 3M 1 year prior to applying.....
IT seems to vary Siam Legal shows money needs to be in bank for 1 year before applying https://www.siam-legal.com/thailand-visa/5-year-thai-retirement-visa.php
I did mine in London, the money had only been in for 3 months,

Yes , it is . At least in Phang Nga office .
I had it confirmed somewhere ( not remember now ... ) , but they do it from within Thailand if an original ' O ' type visa , or even a tourist visa , or an extension of it , already exists and is still valid .
( We had this discussion last year already , when I was told by the IO that I can upgrade from within Thailand )
I tried 2 years ago to get an O-X inside Thailand, and was told by CW that it was not possible, to do inside Thailand but maybe they have changed

Would like to hear from someone with a non OX. Share their experience.
Never even met anyone with a non OX.
I have an 0-X visa, which i obtained 2 years ago, i was not retired, but was coming 7 or 8 times a year to Thailand on visa exempt entries, and immigration started commenting, for me it was a choice of Thai elite or the 0-X, the hardest part was opening a bank account once that was done, this now gives me 10 years multi entry, for the medical insurance there are not that many options as the O-A, but i am happy with it, i am in Bangkok so CW is my office, and they have told me there is no need to go to immigration every year for document checks, just come back to have stamps transferred to new passport in a few years,

I gave up trying to use smart queue, and just turned up, took a thai speaker with me, about 4 months ago, they gave me an appointment a month later, then they were closed for a month, with no one answering the telephone, i turned up with expired appointment card last month, they let me in, and i came out with a 2 year license about an hour later. its best if you take a Thai speaker with you, if you can not speak Thai, not much english spoke there, dont forget to wear trousers shorts are not allowed in, plenty of signs warning you.

It seems you misread the article
"Death rates among the unvaccinated are significantly higher.
For people aged over 80, the unvaccinated have a death rate of 125.4 per 100,000 compared to the vaccinated 54.9 per 100,000 in the past four weeks.
For 70-79 the gap is even wider, with the unvaccinated death rate at 103.8 per 100,000 compared to 16.2 for the vaccinated."
I was not talking about the over 80s, just pointing out an article about the

The current one will be replaced by one with a new mutations/variants, as is being seen in Spain, Africa and part of Euro.
This will continue for several years, and booster vaccinations will be required.
Cases will surge and deaths will continue especially in the unvaxxed communities, and in vaccine poor nations
it seem the over 50's vaxxxed have a higher death rate than unvaxxed in UK

Two different issues; Covid insurance that everyone needs, and the health insurance required for Non O-A visa.
It seems confusing for sure ,the London embassy shows, the following for all people entering, in the past it specifically stated covid cover
Foreigners need to provide health insurance with a minimum treatment coverage of 50,000 USD or equivalent in any other currencies.
, elsewhere on the site it says all Thailand pass applications are not done by the embassy, but in Thailand
(Remarks The “Thailand Pass” will be approved by the central authorities in Thailand NOT the Royal Thailand Embassy.
As the pass system starts today, we will soon see,

There is no residence certificate required to buy or register a vehicle.
I was told by a main dealer i needed the resident certificate, so they could register the car in my name maybe a different dealer might tweak the criteria

Just had a look at TG website, and a lot of the lhr-bkk flights and return go via Hong kong/brussels etc a few seem direct, maybe just me putting in wrong details

I should have added after you have deleted previous attempts, you need to change the dates as there may be previous attempts(even months ago) that you can not see on the default time
-
When you said ditched, did you go into your previous attempts and delete them from the system, make sure you go back and delete all attempts, then log out and clear all your cookies/cache, a, nd try again.

555 just edited to say it's confusing; the site layout is shocking so it doesn't help. If anyone would know it would be you, didn't it state 400/40K for O-A before?
I am sure it did state 400/40k 2 years ago when i got my visa, otherwise how would i have known how much insurance was needed, though i went for ox, the medical requirements were the same, but i agree it can be read differently, time will tell

I have an O/A visa with a Thai wife. I got it last year and was told when this first came out a number of months ago by the immigrations department that it doesn't effect me because I am married. I do hope this is true. I know others with an O/A marriage who do not need the insurance. I wish I could get some good answers.
There is no such visa as an OA marriage, OA visas are retirement visas, there is a non o marriage and a non o retirement, as well as an ox retirement visa

See here for the list of approved insurers from Thailand https://longstay.tgia.org/home/companiesoa
once you reach 60 or thereabouts you need a full medical for them to accept you, this is done by a hospital of their choice,

It seem
QuoteIt seems pretty light on the small detail, you have always been able to use a foreign policy for the insurance, but only for the initial 2 years after that you had to use a Thai insurer from an approved list, to me it seems unlikely that you only need the 3 million for the first year then 400 000 would do for the following years, guess we will see in time, perhaps the non o retirement is the better option

If you are not married then the mother has sole rights over the child, your name on the birth certificate is not enough, you need to legitimize the child, either marry the mother, do it through the court, or easiest by going through the Amphore you need the mothers agreement going this way

With the elite visa you have to apply for an extension every year at immigration and pay 1900, just as if you applied for a marriage extension. You just don't need any money seasoned and fewer documents.
You only need to go to immigration and pay the 1900 baht at immigration if you have not left Thailand during the year,
-
I thought this was only an idea, but the upshot will be everyone just switches to non o retirement

Partly true, the visit to accident and emergency is free of charges, but if you are admitted to hospital then you pay, see last paragraph
