  3. Highway Police begin Songkran Road Safety Campaign.

The Highway Police located on the Sukumvit Road in South Pattaya have begun their annual Songkran Festival Road Safety Campaign and on Wednesday Morning we joined them outside the station at one of their daily checkpoints. The Highway Police have this year drafted in foreign Highway Police Volunteers to assist in road safety at this busy time. Apart from their regular duties which include fining motorbike drivers who do not wear helmets and motorists who do not wear safety belts, they are also providing information for drivers to ensure they do not become road accident victims during Songkran. If you require assistance from the Highway Police you can call their 24 hours 4 digit emergency number, 1677.

  4. Finnish man accused of assaulting 14 year old boy in road rage incident.

We were on the scene of an incident which occurred in front of Soi Vira in South Pattaya in the early hours of Tuesday Morning involving a Finnish resident of Pattaya. The man, known only as Tommy aged 56 was involved in an altercation with a 14 year old boy who was walking with his mother on the road. The story we have received from Police states that Tommy was driving his White Toyota Vigo when the boy somehow came into contact with Tommy’s truck. This angered Tommy who proceeded to stop his truck and he then allegedly approached the boy and kicked him. He then attempted to drive away from the scene but hit a Silver Toyota Vios. Police and volunteers soon arrived and Tommy was ordered out of his vehicle but was clearly in an agitated state and would not fully comply with the Police. Eventually Tommy was taken to Pattaya Police Station for further questioning and it is likely he will have to pay for the damaged car and compensation to the boy relating to the alleged assault.

  6. Man arrested following Beach Road Bag Snatch involving Russian Tourist.

Police were called to the North End of Pattaya Beach Road in the early hours of Saturday Morning to search for a suspected bag snatcher following a complaint made at Pattaya Police Station by Miss Tatiana Belerosikova aged 28 from Russia. She explained that she was walking on the beach when the male suspect snatched her shoulder bag which contained 2,500 Baht, a mobile phone, digital camera and personal documents. The suspect, Khun Pailin, was soon located and put up a considerable amount of resistance before he was arrested. The suspect had been released from prison only 24 hours before the bag snatch and claimed that due to a lack of money he was forced back into a life of crime. Khun Pailin is behind bars once again and will appear in court early next week

  7. Bank Robbed at Gunpoint.

At about 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon police were called to a Siam Commercial bank in Central Pattaya which had been robbed of about 200,000 baht by a man with a gun.

According to staff members, a Thai man aged in his 30’s entered the premises and sat down to talk with them about insurance matters. He then left but less than a minute later he was back with a gun in his hand and a demand for the monetary contents of the safe. At this juncture staff were fairly sure he wasn’t interested in discussing insurance any more.

Faced with a potentially lethal weapon they naturally complied with his requests and emptied the safe. The man then fled from the bank and jumped on a red motorbike, because these are faster, and sped off in the direction of Sukhumvit Road.

Police have a footprint on a chair as their main source of evidence as well as CCTV pictures showing a man in a red jacket and baseball cap.

  8. NEW MARINA IN PATTAYA TO RIVAL PHUKET

Pattaya Daily News is proud to publish a scoop regarding the bold new plan to close off Pattaya Bay and transform it into a marina to rival the one scheduled to be built in Phuket by Bill Gates.

Sources close to the development consortium, World Marinas Co Ltd, leaked the momentous news to Pattaya Daily News earlier today, April 1, 2008. Apparently, the plan is to block off Pattaya Bay from the coast near Laem Chabang down to the coast adjacent to the Royal Cliff Resort at an estimated cost of Bt 15 billion.

Roger Guinevere, CEO of World Marinas, was unavailable to comment, but a top executive with the organisation, who cannot be identified, told PDN reporters that the new marina was to be built in a series of concentric circles with canals between the concreted infrastructure with linking water ways allowing eventual access to the sea. The second circle will feature a horse racing stadium , while other circles will accommodate residential, commercial and recreational facilities.

This design is the ultimate defence against tsunamis, the source is reported to have said. Work is scheduled to commence in Q3, 2008 after provisional soundings have been taken and seabed infrastructure has been built. The intent is to truly promote Pattaya to world-class status with facilities to rival top global resorts.

  9. Pussies Rescued from Deep Hole .

On Sunday night Sawang Boriboon Rescue volunteers were called to an apartment complex in Central Pattaya where they were asked to rescue a pair of cats, a mother and her kitten, which had somehow become stuck on a ledge towards the bottom of a deep concrete water tank.

The rescue workers fashioned a wire noose and after quickly snaring the mother and bringing her to the surface they began trying to do the same with the young kitten.

It took the rescue workers nearly 40 minutes to achieve their goal with the small pussy as it was a really tight fit, but eventually the kitten was lifted to the surface and re-united with its mother. The opening to the water tank was then sealed shut.

  10. Petrol Station and Foreigner Robbed in Daylight Raid.

At around 11:00am on Saturday morning two teenagers riding a motorbike stopped in front of a pump at a petrol station in Jomtien and produced a gun which they used to demand the cashier hand over whatever money he had in his possession.

Confronted by the weapon the cashier sensibly complied and handed over approximately 10,000 baht in cash. Both young men were wearing helmets and before they made off, they pointed the gun at a foreigner who was in the petrol station at the time and demanded he hand over whatever cash he was carrying. The foreigner did as he was told and the pair then rode off.

No one noticed the number plates on the bike and police have little to go on as the foreigner decided not to wait for them to give a statement. Police surmise that the robbery was carried out by local youths who are currently on holidays from school. They are also disturbed by the fact the robbery occurred in broad daylight.

  11. Please remenber guys that discussion of bargirls and URL`s to sites with such content are not allowed.

One such URL has been deleted.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

:D I told ya so! I told ya so! :o:D

I think as long as we can keep the discussion about the ambience and atmosphere of the bars then we should be OK. The things I would be interested in are more about location, atmosphere, prices etc rather than info about the girls, we've all been in Pattaya long enough to know what that is all about.

I don't know if info such as the girls being pushy or leave you alone is against the rules but that is something I think that would be good to know as IMO there's nothing worse than if you just want to have a drink and theres pushy girls disturbing you, surely that would be general info about the bars atmosphere.

I'm hoping also that the thread will spread to all amenities on the Dark side not just bars, though bar information is well appreciated too.

Discussions concerning bargirls or barboys are not allowed.

Here is an extract from the forum rules.

You will not use thaivisa.com to post any material which is knowingly or can be reasonably construed as false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, referencing prostitution (including bargirls and barboys), referencing suicide, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.
