  2. "Which part of this do you disagree with? Please provide supporting evidence for your opinion Abstract "Relevant records published between 1 January 1990 and 1 June 2024 were identified through searches of PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar, and twenty randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were ultimately included in the meta-analysis."

  4. Type 2 diabetes is a growing global crisis. In 2017, about 462 million people, or 6.28% of the world’s population, lived with the condition, and forecasts suggest this will rise to 7% by 2030. By 2024, the World Health Organization reported that more than 800 million people had diabetes, with 95% of cases being type 2. The disease not only raises the risk of heart problems, vision loss and kidney damage but is also projected to cost over $1 trillion a year worldwide by the end of the decade. Excess weight is common among people with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, and weight reduction can help control symptoms or even push the condition into remission. This makes weight management an urgent focus for researchers seeking to ease both the medical and economic burden. A review of 20 randomised controlled trials, published in Nutrition & Diabetes, suggests turmeric and its active compound curcumin may play a role. The findings showed improvements in several measures linked to obesity, pointing to turmeric or curcumin supplements as a possible aid for people with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes who are trying to lose weight. Adapted From: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/for-better-weight-control-in-diabetes-turmeric-may-be-the-answer Link to study: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41387-025-00386-7 Conclusions "In summary, our systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis revealed supplementation with turmeric/curcumin significantly diminished BW, WC, FM%, and HC in patients with T2DM. Furthermore, an advantageous effect of turmeric/curcumin consumption was observed in BW and WC among individuals with prediabetes."
  5. A children’s hospital nurse has been jailed for four years after police uncovered a £200,000 stash of cocaine, ecstasy and cash. Kiran Farooq, 34, who worked at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children, admitted being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. She was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow, with her term reduced from six years due to an early guilty plea. Farooq was first spotted by officers entering and leaving a car before getting into her own vehicle. Detectives suspected a drug deal and followed her to a secure car park in Lancefield Quay, where she was stopped. She dropped the keys to a nearby property, and police seized nearly £12,000 from a bag in her car. Inside the flat, officers found an open bag filled with drugs, along with cash and dealing equipment. The haul included cocaine with a purity of up to 77% as well as quantities of MDMA. 6. A new review by Friends of the Earth Cymru suggests that tens of thousands of sites across Wales may contain hazardous waste but have not been properly assessed. Campaigners warn that this lack of scrutiny leaves both local communities and wildlife at risk of serious environmental harm. Although Wales has a long industrial legacy, official checks have been minimal. The report notes that only 82 sites have ever been formally investigated and confirmed as contaminated, meaning the real scale of the danger remains uncertain. Areas of concern include disused factories, landfills, and quarries, which may hold pollutants ranging from heavy metals and oil to solvents, gases, and even radioactive material. To uncover the extent of the problem, campaigners submitted freedom of information requests to all 22 local councils. Just 11 authorities provided full replies, yet even these showed 45,157 potentially polluted locations—indicating the overall number could be much higher. 7. Freshly surfaced emails suggest Prince Andrew may have remained in touch with Jeffrey Epstein for years beyond what he has previously claimed. Commentators say if this extended contact is confirmed, it could finally shut down any hopes of him returning to public duties within the Royal Family. Andrew has consistently maintained that his final meeting with Epstein took place in New York in December 2010. However, records already revealed he encouraged Epstein to “stay in touch” and hinted at seeing each other again just two months later, in early 2011. Now, correspondence connected to Epstein and other associates raises the possibility that their communication continued well after that point. These revelations further undermine Andrew’s account of the timeline and cast new doubt over the credibility of his statements about their relationship. 11. I think we should help these poor people. They’re just ordinary people, like us, whether we like it or not. Will the U.S. actually step in? That’s up for debate, isn’t it? And if they do, there’ll definitely be strict conditions. But still, we should help. Maybe it could even ease relations with the Taliban. I don’t know. I feel like America should do it as kind of an olive-branch thing. Honestly, both sides are guilty, in my opinion.

  18. A group of aviation specialists say they may be closer than ever to solving the mystery of Amelia Earhart’s disappearance, nearly nine decades after she vanished. Earhart, along with her navigator Fred Noonan, went missing in July 1937 while attempting to circumnavigate the globe. Their loss prompted what was then the largest air and sea search in American history. A modern exploration team believes it has significantly narrowed the potential crash site. Researchers restored a radio identical to the one carried on Earhart’s final flight and used it to reassess past signals and transmissions. This work, they argue, sheds new light on where the Lockheed Electra might have gone down over the Pacific. Dave Jourdan, head of the deep-sea survey company Nauticos, described the breakthrough as a major step in solving one of aviation’s most enduring puzzles. If correct, the findings could finally provide long-sought answers about what became of Earhart and Noonan.
