We have a small business and limited parking. Theres another very popular business on the same side as us down 10m. Its a moderately busy road at the best of times. Everyone parks at an angle in our area. Recently we heard one of the rich old bats (geriatric person) living nearby complained about the amount of traffic. They said it was bc of the angle parking. A few days later I walked out the front and saw at least 25 officials standing around talking to the boss of the popular business near us. The officers were normal police, traffic cops, district office officials, amphur and god knows who else. I asked if someone had been murdered. Oh no... they want to change to parallel parking. I was worried about this bc parallel parking significantly reduces the amount of cars that can park. I went to chat with some of the other businesses. One of them told me 'dont worry, this is thailand... It will all go back to normal soon'. In the first 2 weeks there were traffic cops with signs telling everyone to park parallel to the curb. 3 to 4 weeks later they didnt turn up. Everyone went back to angle parking and its been like that for a few months now. It was a complete storm in a tea cup. I learnt once again that authorities here are quite hopeless. There are laws but not many people abide by them. Everyday I practice my mantra 'I must lower my expectations'. It keeps me sane.

My hotel in Pats is quoting 1700 to send a taxi and wait with a card (with my name) at the airport and drive me to the hotel. I was wondering if there's a big bus going down. If so do you have the times every afternoon and how much? Not interested in minivans as I value my life. thanks

Which Isan town/city is best for a bit of hanky panky?
advancebooking replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
A smaller nightlife option is surin (compared to kk). Stay at the bus station hotel there. Walk 5 min to the nightlife area. They have some farang bars and a karoke option right in the same street. Not a bad line up of girls. Theres another big hotel right near that area but cant remember the name actually. Happy hunting old fella. -
5 yrs ago we bought a small building in a prime location. Our tenants run a very popular restaurant. Its on a main road and I drive past most nights on my way to do exercise and see its packed most nights. They formed a company structure a few yrs ago. Recently they had the local revenue dept visit them who also commented on how they have seen it so popular. They said to her that they estimate she has earnt more than 1.8mill and should have registered for VAT. They will have to pay a fine. Now the mad rush is on for her to get all docs. She contacted us saying she needs a copy of the chanote, copy of wifes id card and tabian bahn for her. I was wondering why my wife should supply this? Is this correct. If you have recently registered for VAT can you give an opinion? Or is there a website outlining the requirements? thanks

Colonoscopy Tests Costs In Thailand

Maybe you should accept what the dr says in the future. No doubt you were highly anxious bc of your argument and increased pain reaction? When you go to the dentist do you also tell them what to do? -
I think 15% is not so bad. It means your money is legit. You are paying your taxes in this country. Your tax records are all ok. Your money in your thai account is legal. no red flags. 15% is a no brainer. If you sell it on an exchange in your own country, for example, oz..... then use your Wise app to convert into thai and spend that way here, you will still have tax issues in your home country. And I think it will be a lot higher than 15% Can you keep us updated bc it affects us all. I asked my accountant and she said dont report it blah blah. She is clueless I think

Residents refusing to pay maintenance in gated village.

I think it would be a complete nightmare living in a gated community with uptight farang and selfish middle class thai's with their barking rat dogs. Not for me. -

Whats your profit now? good on you for taking the risk. -
They are not married. We know they spend most of their time in bangkok. If say for example, a big gas explosion happens and it spreads to neighbouring building/s then its better to have 2 people who can potentially pay the liability rather than one. Thats why I want him on the contract again. I know he has money. I dont know about her. She might be just renting her bkk restaurants just like she is renting my building. ie no real assets.

We bought an old 3 level building 5 yrs ago and renovated it. Rented it out on a 3 + 3 yr contract for a restaurant. . We rented it to a thai couple who both seem to be high sot. He owns a small hotel and runs another restaurant. She runs 2 restaurants. After 1 yr they asked to re do the contract just in her name. We decided to allow this and they paid the attorney fee. Theres a clause in the contract thats a bit vague but states they have to pay all damage if any. I put in a clause that if any staff or customer dies at the building then they are liable not us. I was suspicious that he took his name off the contract and later thought maybe its because he has a lot of assets and maybe she doesnt. We noticed neither of the tenants are ever at the building. I drive past all the time as its close to where we live. Also at night I look in when driving past and never see them. All the staff live in the rooms at the building. Last year we were worried about the risks of a fire so installed a hard wired fire alarm system (smoke and heat sensors throughout). The first 3 yrs is coming up for renewal. I would rest easy at night knowing a normal thai family running any business that doesnt involve gas cooking would be better. I suppose Im worried about all the staff and no supervision by the boss. Its a bit of a pain finding new tenants. Existing tenants pay the high rent on time. Building seems to be ok since I last checked 8 months ago. The workers seem ok when we go to the restaurant. They seem to be mature to be honest. Do you think I should just renew them? I was thinking of telling them I will renew on the basis of doing a new contract and he has to add his name back. And a clause stating any fire damage to neighbouring buildings will be liable for them as well not us. Its not in the contract at the moment and I think our building insurance policy will not cover this. thanks

Sometimes Im bored during the day living here in LOS. Please name your top 2 with a brief note as to why Mine are as follows: Websites: 1. thetimes . co . uk Been reading it for years. Although its now heading towards being a tabloid I still find it good for British news 2. dailyhodl. Good for crypto news/ updates. With a bitcoin spot ETF coming soon I think everyone should be reading up about bitcoin and buying some. Podcasts: 1. Diary of CEO. Amazing interviews with many different people. Learning a lot about many health topics, for example. 2. Bangkok podcast. American and Canadian guy doing a weekly podcast. Mostly Thai related. Highly recommended Youtube: 1. Thai Expat Daily show: Irish guy giving excellent commentary on Thai related topics. He's not afraid to give his opinion. He doesn't plagiarise news same as TNT. Worth listening to this guy. 2. Bankless: 2 bright guys discussing all things relating to crypto. Has to be the best crypto channel on youtube IMHO. One can learn a lot from these guys. Over to you.
