I moved to this new city 5 yrs ago and started a business with my wife. In the first 2 yrs I wasnt working and thus paid the 400 baht a month. Then I finally got a WP 3 yrs ago. Im unsure what system that Im in now actually. Back when I started the WP I spoke to them and think they said that I cant join the same SS scheme as my workers. The monthly debit is still the same 400 a month thereabouts. Automatic debit I just looked at the number on the blue card and that differs to the number on my pink card. I think Im still on the old system paying the 400 a month automatic debit and not on any employer system. Now I understand why she is asking for my WP. Should I show her the confusion re this issue or just continue to pay on the old system?

I worked 4 hard years as a teacher in a govt school. When quitting I joined the SS scheme paying 400 baht a month for free hospital cover at my nominated govt hospital. I assumed I had this for life with or without having a WP My blue card expired last month so I visited the office. The lady told me that I have to show a copy of my passport and WP. I said I would return later on. I actually have a WP but might not have one in the future. I was thinking why should I be giving them a copy of WP considering that most foreigners join the scheme when quitting their jobs. I want to check on this forum who is correct regarding this matter. I dont want to give my WP bc one day I might not be working. Its better to challenge them on this issue now I think. Please advise if you have knowledge on this subject.

I agree. The rev dept is incompetent and will be unable to strictly enforce the new rules. Hopeless govt dept to say the least. Cannot effectively tax its own population. 71 million of them. The only tax that they can enforce is the land taxes/ condo taxes

The language issue is a big factor to consider. If moving here I highly recommend joining a language school and getting group or private lessons. Ive been doing this for 2 yrs now and now intermediate level. Im testing my brain all the time by trying to remember vocab and think its an excellent way to keep the brain active in ones older years. Its sociable as well to be going to the language school- 3 times a week for me!

I think a lot of (honest) farang are worried about the new tax laws bc they were raised in a nanny state. They do not understand that TIT. The revenue dept's in your local province where you live have NO idea. They cannot even effectively tax their own citizens. Why on earth would you worry or abide by the new proposed laws. The rev dept will be relying on people to be honest and declare the said income. BUT if you dont do you think they can do anything about it....

We know that we will not have to register for VAT as such bc of our business is in the category of being excluded for this revenue as stipulated by the Rev Dept. I already have a WP and would like to continue with this using the new company structure. I think our accountant is going to do the best thing for my wife and not necessarily be concerned for me. Therefore I wanted to ask what type of company should we set up Is a 'Limited Partnership' possible? 51% shares to her. 49% to me? Or a standard Thai Ltd company? Whats the difference? Re registered capital... Whatever this is set at, do we have to have this in a bank account for a week or 2 whilst its being set up? How does one determine the amount of this. If we have a legal liability issue down the track, does it mean that our customer can only sue us for this registered amount? I read this comment. The mild sickness in the stomach has been going on for more than 2 weeks now. Again last night so I took another Motrlium. Woke up this morning and feel good no issues. If it comes back do you think I should go to dr and ask for antibiotics? I havent taken AB for 1.5 yrs. Not a big fan but wondering if I should resort to it. Or just keep taking the Motrlium?
