i hope they take a regular backups of the database....
if so then they can just put in an old copy.....some new posts will be gon....but atleast the site will work perfectly...
my post i had posted today afternoon on http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=36213 has dissapeared..anyway i suggested a dedicated server for only the database....everything thing else on another server.....wl run much better then.///..
hey george....just out of curiosity....how big is the forums database? always wondered....
-
We need a more powerful dedicated server, I think.
Fkuckin computers!
my suggestion is to use a seperate server for the database and a seperate one for the site/emails....
assigning database to a seperate server would make it much more stable....

Late today, in what is believed to be the largest breach of computer security, it was discovered hackers had planted a "backdoor" trojan on the computers belonging to one of the largest credit card data processing companies in the US.
any clue which processing company it was.....so i can verify wether i in anyway went thru it...

the best thing to do would be one of the following....
1) borrow a mouse from a friend...try it on your pc....
2) try out your mouse at a friends place or a cyber cafe...
you could atleast determine which one is at fault your mouse or your computer....perhaps some settings got screwed up....
is it that all the time when u single click it takes it as a double click or only sometimes it single clicks some times double clicks? if its the later then u need to replace yr mouse as theres sum mechanical fault...
18 months is a prety nice time for a replacement....

i dunno if this is possible or not, but i find this a good thing abt outlook 2003,
ive often heard that even jpg files can contain viruses n stuff....so as per me outlook 2003 not previewing the jpgs by default is a good thing....

3 year multiple entry visas to be introduced
He said the new visa is part of a goverment attempt to attract foreign investors to
operate businesses or work in Thailand. The current multiple- entry business visa is valid for one year and cost the equivalent of 5,000 baht.
how come i got 23 months non-immigrant business visa when i applied for the first time??....
Someone made a mistake.
Definately a typo!!! its a mistake that rarely happens... usually its always a mistake against, and never in favour...
gr8 news...i feel like the elite few then(coming from a country where demand for ppl coming to thailand is much higher than the alloted quota)
anyways the 23 months r finished now and have got a new visa for a year(one year + 15 days) now...
the point was taken up at a business forum some time ago that the maximum for business visa be increased to 5 yrs from a year....that time i thought the guy speaking didnt know his $h!7.....

latency is too low with GPRS, forget VOIP...
gprs is gr8 if u r on the move....but if u need th net at one place adsl will be much much faster n cheaper...
EDGE might have a higher bandwidth, but i suppose the latency will still be too low...

no one is banning it YET and do not give them the idea. Singapore is banning i know but not us yet.......... but sometimes it slow slow slow
then thailand will follow soon,,,pretty sure...
-
is it just my thinking or such incidents have become a way of life for thai airways?..

hello all,
we are a company situated in south thailand, registered here.
i wanted to know if we can have an office in bangkok, not as our registered office but only for correspondence and other work like application of some forms, facilating import/export, etc.
1) if i just simply rent an office space in my personal name, not show it in my books, not write of the expenses, would the revenue ppl bother me?
2) if i rent the office space in my companies name, will i require registering it as a branch or something? is it too much of a hassle? would i require auditing, etc to be done for this branch seperately?
PS: i am a foreigner with a WP.
Looking forward to some help...
cheers

it sure takes time for every service provider and software manufacturers to update their ip mappings...
until a few weeks ago DC++ showed 61.90.x.x and 61.91.x.x as hong kong IP and not thai....
-
yesterday night happily surfing(true 1024/512) on the 20something.x.x.x IP....at abt 2:30 am the net gets dicsonnected....nuthin works...call the customer service center....the girl with the sleepy voice told me that there is some network problems in my area.....anyways...been up since morning....using the 91.60.x.x IP....and getting amazing speeds on BT.....
i guess they probably allocated more bandwidth on the router i feed on...
any similar experiences to true customers in asoke/sukhumvit area???
for a change im impressed with true and will upgrade from 1024/512 package to 2.5mbps/152 kbps...
its 1 pm on a regular office day and i can get 100 KBps on BT...
or is it that bandwidth management of true that sucks...and i happen to be on the receiving end.
-
im right now considering carious services for co-location of my server...
IDC looks impressive, any idea how much bandwidth do they provide per server?
-
i totally disagree with firefox..
whatever the users use their bandwidth for should be their own choice and not someone else preaching...
we pay true for unlimited downloads and the users should be given that freedom.
if anyone has to be blamed thats true..
true should have a seperate connection with limited downloads and better share ratio for the normal users,...
so that the heavy users and normal users have some sorta seperation.
maybe the 1000 baht a month has no value for you but for me it does and i would like to use the connection for whatever i desire....without someont tellin me i should use lesser so that everyone using true can get their share of bandwidth...
if u want proper bandwidth with no bunny hops i suggest u take KSC(share ratio 1:10) rather than true(1:50...or more).
-
My best guess would be that you're on a server without those limitations (61.91 number for sure)
nah...i was on 61.90.x.x at that time...
or perhaps lots of seeders from thailand to that tracker..
-
i dunno why but somehor right now i am getting over 60 KB/s on the true 1024/512 kbps home package....
first time geting anything over 25 KB/s....
maybe true read the thread here and removed the block for PR sake....
