Did you ask? I intend to do so in the next few days. I was hoping they would relocate the same branch at a new address. They had a lot of foreign customers, and all the staff at the right-hand side counters dealing with accounts/transfers and so on spoke very good English and had lots of experience. It would be a shame if they disband it.

Non O Retirement Extension current requirements
arithai12 replied to DJ54's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Never had to do that. This is the list of what I brought to my IO (Chiang Mai) last January (I use money in the bank in a separate account, and I own my condo) --------- passport and copies (first page, orig visa transfer, latest extension) tm6 and copy tm30 and copy 90 days (needs copy too, the officer kindly did it right there for me) bank letter and copy (copy not needed) orange passbook (bank deposit) and copy tm 7 filled and signed (remember to add phone number) "overstay" declaration and stm2, filled and signed (copies not needed) (tm 8 I had but not needed, re-entry) .... blue passbook (regular checking account), no copies. just in case (not needed) yellow housebook, blue housebook no copies. just in case (not needed) no extra pics (I didn't ask re-entry on this date) -
You answered your own question. I agree Central Festival has really no soul, but considering that most people walk around looking into their phones it probably doesn't matter to them. Apt Plaza on the contrary I like, always new things popping up in the basement and in the annex, lots of shops, good food courts, decent parking for m/bikes, the Baan&Beyond complex nearby, and above all a nice middle-income crowd that doesn't go to the mall just to show off their fashion or hairdo.

Shame really, for those who were around 10+ years ago KSK was "the" shopping mall along with Airport Plaza, conveniently located. However, not only the newer malls and especially Maya proved a tough competition, but also it made some idiotic moves of its own. I remember dearly the food court of ten years ago in front of TOPS with free live music in the evening, but with the Chinese wave they converted it to something very fake where I never found anything that appealed to me. At the same time, parking started to be difficult, the main entrance once covered with small food/clothes stands became the domain of aggressive red buses, and there were no new investments. Venturing above the 3rd floor in the back of the building felt like visiting an archeological site, the bathrooms started to show their age. The traffic along Huay Kaew and the invasion of food delivery m/bikes taking every parking spot for scooters did the rest. I stopped going there even before Covid. KSK had become a place to get depression, not distraction. Does anyone know what will happen to the BKB branch there?

You'll find that a lot of goods are produced in China and shipped from there, as clearly stated. If you can't suffer the extra days waiting time, too bad for Lazada they will probably go bankrupt without your business but it's their fault.

I hate to admit it, but for the first time I admire Brexit. Von der Leyen & co. make even Bojo look a like a genius.

You have been booked for months to fly on 25th, that's a week from now, and you don't already have a TP? If you do, what difference does it make to you whether they drop it now or later? They have to wait a few days because while the CCSA took the decision, it's not applicable until it's published in the Royal Gazette. FYI, you'll be glad to have TP. I flew in yesterday, and the line to check passengers was 10x longer for TP-exempt (Thai) than for those with TP (foreigners).

Yes they are there. I never used them so I don't know about prices. But do you have a scooter driving licence? In that case, you could rent one for a day, the price would probably be comparabe/less and would give you extra sight seeing options such as Bhuping higher up and not be tied to the drivers' schedule. Also a nice lookout point half-way before the temple, great view.

It happened 1-2 times to me in the past that the airline did not have a TM6 form on board, in that case there were plenty available in the airport just before immigration. Well, that is the worry that many have. The scrapping of TM6 si apparently a temporary measure. Question is: will all IO offices know, some time in the future, that no TM6 were handed out during a certain interval? I just re-entered today. Frankly this move about TM6 is strange to comprehend. I completed it while still in the air (zero time wasted in the airport), and I was out of the plane and through immigration within minutes literally, including Thailand Pass. Admittedly I was on the special immigration section for transits to CM, CR, Phuket, ... But the Thailand Pass checks were in common for all, very very quick, no queues. Personally, now that it has been announced that TP will be scrapped from July 1st, I am inclined to think that actually nothing will change re:TM6.

A new 90 day requirement?
arithai12 replied to Bangkok Barry's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
TM47 is not new, on the contrary it's the standard form for 90d report. In CM at Promenada, at least the many times I did it during Covid, they only wanted name, signature, phone number. -
I have the same experience for one of my medicines, and then again for other medicines it can be different. There is no fixed rule that a medicine will cost more or less at a hospital or from a pharmacy, and costs change wildly (factor of 2) from one hospital to another. To keep in mind: rarely Hospital A will fill a prescription from Hospital B.

I don't have a specific experience with dogs, but we use the Nana Animal Hospital for our birds, and I can speak very highly of them. They have a separate section specific for dogs and cats I suppose they could deal with your situation. Hang Dong area, easy to google.

Democracy, as a word, was invented in ancient Greece. It was a deeply different thing than what most western countries understand today, certainly not the idea that every person can express a vote. Perhaps France after the Revolution came closer. At any rate, since the topic is a demonstration against the USA influence in Thailand, please do not confuse what most people understand as democracy with what passes as democracy in the USA.

If you like to go through historical records, you don't need to go very far to check how the USA became what it is today by kicking out and decimating the native americans. Talk about human rights. Look, far from me to deny that human rights are a major issue in present day's China. Your statement that the individual person is expandable in their mentality is correct. But the topic being whether to lean with USA or with China in international relations, I'd say the middle way would be wise for Thailand. IMO.

No, first it's 2ppl+ pet return, second 800 is "normal" only in your imagination. I searched a date at random in July, o/w cheapest is 1700B plus whatever. I think a lot of people who love their pet would use this, it turns out to be a "normal" price for 3 seats r/t. Then of course I would feel embarassed to fly in a plane painted like a duck.

A free and open Indo-Pacific a common vision – US Secretary of Defence
arithai12 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Define "free", there are at least two meanings in the English language, free as freedom and free as without cost. -
First, RIP to the poor lady. I have freedived a lot in my days, and I have seen my share of ugly accidents. So sad. About your judgement on the "boat people", I beg to differ. Once she is in the water with an instructor, it's his/her responsibility to check all equipment. btw, in variable weight - which apparently is what she was doing - you normally hold a weight tied to a rope, when you reach the prefixed depth you let go and swim back up. So it the rope "snapped" as the article implies, it would have been so easy to let go and abort. Perhaps she got entangled in the snapped rope? Perhaps the descent was too quick and she passed out and could not react? More importantly, if it is true that they were diving with just 20m sea floor, it would have been very easy for the instructor (assuming he/she was properly qualified) to dive down and take her back even if unconscious. It's part of a freediving instructor course to do that up to 40m. Of course, I say this without having been there. Since they mention a current, perhaps the instructor did try to reach her and could not find her due to poor visibility.
