I have used Ram for many years, no more. What annoyed me there was the inefficiency. I would spend 1+ hour to see my specialist for 2 minutes, with appointment. The rest of the time was the "vital signs", and check out/payment. Incredibly inefficient service, maybe 15 nurses at the internal medicine outpatient counter, all running around like headless flies or sitting idle with their phones. But we are spoiled, back in Europe that would be considered quick. I did like my specialist there, until the day he actually got seriously sick and I had to change. Now I use the new Sriphat OPD, and BKK Hospital CM. Much better organization IMO, as for the doctor it depends of course on the specialist and on your specific case, it has to be tried.

Computer laptop repair in Chiang Mai who can speak English
arithai12 replied to CALSinCM's topic in Chiang Mai
Pantip Plaza has a couple of shops that repair laptops (english spoken), I used Godspeed in the past quite ok, they should be on the 2nd floor. If you don't know, easily found on google maps 18:46:54N, 98:59:58E -
Very tragic, especially when one of them was on honeymoon and the other a husband and father. About lifeguards and red flags on Phuket west coast beaches, I have to say that they are often a joke - though of course I cannot say in the specific case not having been present. e.g., at Nai Harn beach that I frequent regularly, the red flags are often there for no real reason, and the "swim here" red/yellow flags are always just in front of the lifeguards stations. Nothing to do with the real sea/beach conditions. As for the lifeguards, instead of monitoring closely the swimmers, they are more often than not sitting at the back of the beach in the shade playing with their phones. As a result, people are swimming everywhere and ignore the red flags. The lifeguards do nothing about that. This said, I have also seen a few cases of people being "saved" - though in many cases the first responders were other swimmers. The lifeguard presence is useful as a whole, but it should be better organized.

Man allegedly flashes his genitals at female rescue staff

From the headline I thought she had come to his rescue. Also, 2AM is not "early morning" for me. -
So, are BA.4 BA.5 sub-variants containable in Thailand?
arithai12 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Eh eh, this time I spotted the name after "Opinion" and I saved myself the effort of reading even just one sentence. Proud of myself. -
Thailand in the rules-based International Order

To criticize US international politics and to be anti-Western is an equation that exists in your mind, not in mine. -

Agreed. The problem is what comes after. -
The church in England does not know what a woman is

Your set of "easy rules" apply in a large majority of cases, but Nature is more complicated than that. For example: -how does your "male has penis..." easy rule work for ermaphrodites? -according to your easy rule, then a man who has congenital infertility is not a male? -do you really believe that the mind (=brain) is not part of a person's biology? About your last paragraph, I agree that in many languages it is impossible or it becomes ridiculous to include more than two genders in the grammar. There are languages with three genders, or even more, but still it can be confusing. However, languages evolve with societies. I am old and on the way out, but when I look at the young people around me, especially in Thailand, I have the impression that they are more ready to shed the "binarity". Also, they seem to give a lot of importance to their lives in the virtual world of social media, where genders are whatever you want. -
The fact that you keep posting your imaginations as facts, and that people keep liking them, speaks volumes about the quality of this forum. Malaysians do not migrate to Thailand, they have a higher standard of living there, and those are indeeed "tourists" for a weekend or so - away from the imam's eyes.

It is no coincidence, in my opinion, that CCSA is now, ONLY now, claiming numbers like 29,000/day, just as they have extended their own role in charge. Two things matter: 1) consistency. Take e.g. the official figure published every day by the unlinkable national newspaper, it doesn't matter if it refers to hospitalizations only: it shows numbers of order 2000 since weeks. No increase, if anything a down trend. 2) fatalities. These are of order 20/day, also in a down trend, and most interestingly they never tell us the age, conditions, vaccination status. I think those not too old, fit, vaccinated who succumb to Covid ONLY are very very few. Wear your mask if you have a reason to (I do), don't wear it if you have no reason, do home testing regularly, ditch the CCSA, and stop the fear mongering.

@Woof999already explained. FYI, it is in the owner's manual, page 7-8 and page 7-11. (bbr-f8199-e0-all-new-aerox.pdf)

There has been no need to arrive pre-dawn since many years. If you arrive very early (like 7am) you will be sure to be processed on the same day, but you may have a longer wait. Some prefer to arrive late, and have a shorter wait but also the risk that they run out of numbers. They start giving queue numbers at 8am (btw, not exactly in the order of arrival but in order of seating place). This said, the last two years I have used the online appointment system, works nicely but you many need to book well in advance. In general, note that the satellite office is open at Central Festival, for a number of services - however not for the extension that OP needs. There was a topic on that.

Khun Yuthasak, here's an original idea... how about foreigners pay double than Thais for airplane tickets? Just like for National Parks. Oh wait, is that ten times?... ooops.

Covid originated in China - but they locked down the country. It was sprung on the world by the idiotic policies of WHO and, not last, a certain US president. The persecution of minorities in China is appalling, I agree, still it pales to what countries such as USA, Canada, Australia did to the native populations. Human rights again I agree, but just look around the world, both far and near, and you'll find similar - not that I want to excuse the chinese. In the end, if you hate China as a principle, it's your prerogative - though a bit puzzling that you accepted to live there to earn your living. Personally, I think that Thailand is doing the right thing, trying to please both superpowers with the knowledge that it cannot afford to openly oppose either one.

You don't give departure airport in UK, you don't give dates of travel, you don't mention if that fare allows rebooking / cancellation... what do you want people to say?
-
I agree that the two were heroic, and played a crucial role. But to say that Thailand did nothing but watch, if this is what you meant, is very unfair. They organized everything, and had a lot of other rescuers actively involved including an unfortunate diver who lost his life and who is not mentioned at all in the article. They are making a Hollywood movie about this, I hope it will be a fair account.

BREAKING NEWS ! Boris Johnson to resign as Prime Minister
arithai12 replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Not a UK citizen, but I still feel a sense of "good riddance". I will remember him for hijacking T. May's deal by adding a blatant lie about the customs check then be heralded as some kind of Brexit hero. And for the "we are different from the commoners" parties during Covid. Even yesterday I didn't see the attitude of someone resigning, he wouldn't leave until they literally showed him the door out. To be fair, honor to the UK for being still sufficiently democratic to be able to take him down. Something I wish the EU was able to do with von der Leyen & co. -
Beauty constests are mainly a commercial enterprise driven by sponsors. The girls do not exactly wake up one morning and improvise. There's teams behind them, there's lucrative contracts at stake, in some cases the chance to settle for life. There are hundreds of beauty contests from Miss Universe to Miss Pad Thai, and what we men think or like doesn't count an iota in the process but it's fun to read all the comments.

Thailand’s ambitious bid to co-host 2034 FIFA World Cup gathers pace
