  1. The canals have been like this for 15 years to my knowledge. No change. Lovely sight for tourists!

I can't remember the name of the small canal in CM heading towards the Night Market but I have been told by locals its nothing more than an open sewer, certainly smells and looks like one, heaven knows when that finishes up maybe in the Ping.

Same applies to the one that runs from Hang Dong Rd (near Tesco Lotus) and spills into the Ping ... always black and frothy as runs out at Pa Daet (adjacent the little market on River Rd).

And people catch adn EAT the fish. OMG. This is why NO SEAFOOD for me here unless it is IMPORTED and NOT from Vietnam or sourced or PACKAGED in Thailand

  2. I stayed in a Hotel that was close to one of those bars that stay open

into the morning hours. It was not a great part of my vacation, so I am

glad to read about the police raiding some of these bars. Thanks!

    Geezer

There is this wonderful thin]g called GOOGLE MAPS and GOOGLE places and it is linked to another great thing called TRAVEL SITES and BOOKING SITEs

So you can click on a map and look where you will stay.

then you can avoid listening to others having fun where you might stay and choose another location.

Sure I don't want noise at 5am near me but If i am going on holidays I DO SOME RESEARCH and that can mean ASKING for help if you are not sure.

And on this VERY SITE there are LOADS of helpful people. Don't be afraid. :)

  3. Thai Massage shops selling ...... SEX?

    In CHONBURI!!!!

OH,MY GOD! What's the world coming to.

    cheesy.gif

People from other countries might hear about this and Thailand might loss its image as portrayed on tv recently by one of its Thai citizens in Pattaya robbing tourists etc.

There are no prostitutes in Thailand nor any robbers, scammers, murderers, perverts, gangs, drugs or any wrong doing. It's all in the mind and stories just fabricated on tv to keep the forums alive.

Isnt selling sex ILLEGAL all opver the country?

Or was the VIAGRA supply for the older guys not available when they turn up for 500 baht sex?

  5. Really, Hillary; Do you think anyone

    Believes this!!!!

So what is so terrible about all these emails? Its not like she was saying BOMB CHINA. God you yanks talk <deleted> and should focus more on stuff that really is important.

YOU DESERVE the crap government you have and everything with it with your RIGHTS. Go shoot another of your kinsmen. that's more serious than this email rubbish!

  6. Pleased the perv has been apprehended.

Now all that's needed is a conviction and substantial Thai jail sentence,

You are ALL very quick to jump to assertions based on TRUSTED THIA POLICE.

The boys filed a complaint after not getting their 500 baht.

Does that not seem strange to you all? Why not go to mum and dad who will know someone with a gun?

Thai boys running to police when they are committing a crime and only for 500 baht?

I am gay. i can tell you many guys are on chat lines and all want an IPHONE or 1500 baht or more.

this is a set up and there is something really wrong here.

I HATE PEDOPHILES and would gladly shoot them but this seems strange to me.

  7. this is the fat slug who in office allowed police to threaten the Australian honorary consul and said NOTHING wrong.

this is the fat corrupt slug who is obviously not getting a cut only from over zealous developers. DEVIL OPERS!

this is the fat slug who thinks raising prices brings back tourists.

I CANT WAIT to see Phuket die. Serves them right. After the Tsunami they were nice ... now they are scabs.

  8. In LOS no official are ever fired when found to be negligent or caught red handed with over 100 million Baht in a closet, as in the case of a former Transportation Permanent Secretary.

Unless, they belong to the party that is not in power. But the RTP is the exception to that dysfunctional rule.

Just imagine, police in some countries can actually shoot people dead if they are of a certain color....and not lose their jobs either....not even get sent to posts on "inactive duty"....would you believe that? Methinks Thailand has a long way to go yet to catch up with that practice.

Well it is best not to be that certain colour then, what ever colour that is

BLXXK is not a colour. It is an absence of visible light therefore an absence of the ability to reflect light of any colour. So, would that make BLXXK people, "NON PEOPLE?" I think I might have answered my own question.

In Australia we call them NON REFLECTIVES - YES we do or boongs because thats the sound they make hitting the bull bar on the front of the car. TRUE I tell ya

BLACK! BLACK BLACK and Brownies - the chocolate coloured style.

Wake up political correctness is stupid.

A golly <deleted> is still a golly <deleted> and a honky is till a honky

THERE! Said it for all you chicken livered twerpies :)

  10. WELL being a Chiang Mai resident for 6 or so years nothing new I was in Bar last night left about 3am worse for wear again

Many bars around here still open till late and with friendly police who arrive change clothes and join in

And I am a chiang mai resident of 4.5 years now and I am seeing bars being FORCIBLY closed. I go to many not just the one. I also have many fiends going to many different bars telling me the same thing I see.

  11. Chinese Drink in Karoke bars in hotels. They don't drink in these bars only BAD FARRANG so they are all being shut down at midnight.

Frineds in Pai are telling me all live music is being banned and enforced Heavy handed causing people to leave.

There goes a lovely place ruined by fools and the same fools are doing the same all over Chiang Mia.

Thailand you are killing yourselves and stuff the lot of you - deserve what you get - kick out the people who really care and piss us off - well reap what you sow!

  12. Thai had airplanes they wanted to sell but could not get the RIGHT price. This was some time ago I read it here on Thai Visa. (Must be true..hahah)

Now if they want to sell, in business I was taught your first loss is your best loss otherwise the loss increases... meaning grab those dollars whilst you can as there may not be as many dollars with the next guy.

Selling planes and writing off the loss now could give Thai money to play with rather than having a load of planes rusting (pun) on the tarmac.

I know they are not metal that rusts guys...

  13. We all knock Thailand occasionally, but just think of how many governments around the "civilized" world that would kill to have a current account surplus. That is something they have right .... live within your means.

You only have a SURPLUS here by moving DEBT off the books to BONDS or shift the debt to long term so it is removed from this fiscal session or make the BOND as an asset because you SELL a bond. Something like that is going on big time here in Thailand. All you have to do is read. It is just move the dots. Kiddies stuff to fool the people and make the next mob accountable.

But not an entirely unreasonable thing to do at a time when interest rates are at historical lows.

Aha yes... But what goes DOWN will sooner or later go up and moving these debts means they borrow more at LOW interest because they are not showing TRUE debt

If I ran a business this way I would be placed in gaol for fraud

  14. What did they do with all the extra money they earned on selling rice at

well over what it was on World market,Oh yes take on more debit,I just

have to buy a new pick up,saving for a rainy day, whats that.?

    regards Worgeordie

The average farm size is under 5 hectares and the average rice yield is +- 3 tons per hectare. The rice scheme was inplace for 2011 to 2013 - 3 years. The average breakeven point per hectare is around the 2 tons per hectare level. The average farmer thus harvested 15 tons of rice per year (5 hectares x 3 tons per hectare) of which 10 tons went towards paying for costs (5 hectare x 2 tons per hectare). That left the average farmer with 5 tons profit and at B 15 000 per ton of rice it is equal to B 75 000. The minimum wage is B 9000 per month or B 108 000 per year per worker. As most farmers consist of a husband and wife team their income was B 141 000 per year below the minimum wage (B 108 000 X 2 - B 75 000). What were they supposed to save ?

Even if these farmers cut their production costs with 50 % (1 ton per hectare breakeven point instead of the 2 ton per hectare used) the average rice farmer with the high rice scheme prices would have still been B 66 000 below the minimum wage. That is why farmers laughed at the government them they said that they will ask production input suppliers to cut their costs. The problem is not the production costs, but the size of the farms and the low yields.

Ah yes, you FORGOT that tourism also collapsed at this same time so the children were not able to assist the families with attending educational facilities like the university Of Pattaya and sell their bodies to help mum and dad who don't care how the kids get the money as long as it comes home.

I know because I am treating these poor darlings IDS conditions for free!

Those farmers are not as wonderful as you and other think. Poor yes - uncaring about their kids - Yes - stupid - yes abused by those in power - yes ... not many no's eh?

  15. All talk again with so many poor farmers working their way out of poverty, only to lose everything to corrupt government officials. STOP TALKING ABOUT IT and give them their money back angry.gifangry.gifangry.gif

Better to educate these farmers rather than give them this and that and keep them as slaves for whoever rules. Because that is what is happening from one government to the next and the farmers don't know how to really manage their affair\s. that takes EDUCATION not some gift from whoever is in power on the day.
