Suvarnabhumi Airport Boosts Capacity with New Runway
kickstart replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
At this time, they is never enough staff at the immigration desks, most are nearly always empty. If the new terminal has all the "facilities", if they have they own immigration, will that include an immigration officer at each desk 24/7, I am not holding my breath. -
As far as I know? if you cut wood on your own property, they is no limit to bar size. But, if you cut wood on someone else's property or say beside a road the bar size is 12 inches, that is why you see so many 12-inch bars around on chainsaws ,and if you buy a new chainsaw, it is normally fitted with a 12 bar. The guys with the big 36-inch jobs should all be licensed. Re sharping, I use a file with a guide to get the angle right, and another guide for the rakers both available on Lazada, and my saw when I brought it, is a Chinese job, it was fitted with a Chinese chain, crap, found a place near me sells genuine Stihl chains, makes a big difference. Do not ask me about the legality on the saw in the photo, home made from an 7inch angle grinder motor, bar is 36 inches, have seen one being used, planking some trees!, as far as I know he is still alive!

PM Highlights Drug Crisis in His Parliament Address
kickstart replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
At the moment Yar Bar is about 4 tablets for 100 baht, some say it has never been so cheap, been that price for some time now. You see reports on here about drug busts/seizures lots of smart BIB standing around with the bust in front of them, but we never see or hear of any of these drugs being destroyed, it a case of in the fount door out the back door. When our Thucksin was PM he did away with a lot of the drug dealers, it did work they were less drugs on the street, then the coup, one reason that was said, the army generals were losing a lot of income selling drugs in Thailand that were made in Burma, so they decided he must go. Near where we live 7-8 years ago, an army general brought some land, not cheap, and built some houses, to be sold on, must be, up to press 15 , and still building, did not know they army salary was so high. PM Inspects Suvarnabhumi Airport Without Prior Notice
kickstart replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I do not know about overhauling immigration, when I come through last November, at 8.00am, like all the other times, I would say half? of the immigration booths where open. Just having say 80%? open would help the queuing problem no end, time to get staffing sorted out. I have never had problems with taxi drives at the airport...................just do not use them, I always use the train service very reliable and cheap, takes you right in to the city, then I might use a taxi, or more likely, the BTS which is a good service. -
We have the same problem, I installed an in-line assister pump on the incoming water pipe, we nonmale just use it for showers, and the washing machine, it is a Clinton 1/2hp pump all of 1500 baht from our local builder's merchant, works well, have had to replace the pressure switch. No problem in sucking up dirt or anything, shower head /washing machine filler never blocked up, as we are in a rural area with a few houses, our water tower is only 500 yards up the road, other houses are not staved of water, they are all in the same problem no water pressure.

Thai emission laws transform: What drivers need to know
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I would have said the same thing, fuel pump been opened out. But I have seen a lot of old vehicles belching black smoke, due to lack maintenance probably no money for servicing, ie worn injectors, blocked air cleaner, even pump timing out. As has been said if the test centers and police do they job that would help the problem. -
You have just got to wait for them to ripen, nothing to do with verity, Holland or Kek-Dum ,the two most popular verity's, they are others , they will ripen quicker in the hot season, than during the rainy/cool season.

Try ppfence.co, they use to sell them. Or a new company I found a few weeks ago, jsfence.co.th Looking at them it would not take a lot to make some, give a Thai welder a picture, I am certain he could make some.

Thy do they are two steel mills near me one in Lopburi province the other in Singburi province, and they are others. around the country Our Lopburi mill uses old scrap steel, to make new steel using ark fusion, not coal/coke powered furnaces. Have noticed lately that our plant is now making more channel iron steel, when then they first opened 1997, thay only make steel wire, and have done up to the past 2-3 eras, as the OP said it is China making cheap steel.

Thailand’s government pushes for 500-billion-baht loan to boost economy
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They back in 1997, they had no choice but to go cap-in -hand to the World Bank and the IMF, that was due to 2 Thai PM's who thought they could just spend all the money, then it economy was growing at 7% plus a year. Now, this new guy thinks he can just spend, the 500 billon D-Wallet, plus other spending, as said in 97 the economy was growing well, now with a forecast of 1.8% GDP growth, a slow action train crash in the making. -
Are they, you have a drive around and see all the rows empty lock ups, near me on a very main road must be 80% empty, some have been built 10 years now, a few get rented out for a business, but within a year or so, they give up, some near me are asking 2 million baht plus for a selling price. No such thing as a free lunch, most are built on borrowed money someone has to pay it back. And they are still building more, not as many as before, it is not all roses around the porches in the province's.

Red sea conflicts could disrupt global trade, Thai economy at risk
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Problem is most of the ships being attacked have nothing to do with Israel, most are sailing on flags of convince ie sip on Saturday attacked was flagged in the Marshall Islands, how do the Houthi's. actuary know where a ship is going. As has been said Iran is behind it all, it seems if the attack on the Houthi's is not having a lot of effete. -
Last time Aus and India lost a test on the same day was back in 1977. Well played England, I said yesterday morning they will lose this test by 8 wickets ..............famous last words, well played Ollie Pope on his 196 and well played Tom Hartley with a match figure of 9-193, best on debut since John Lever, 10-70 also against India, in Dec 1976. But do not count your chickens yet, still another 4 tests to go.

Pita unveils the Move Forward party’s strategic roadmap for 2024
kickstart replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Having been involved with Thai farming for a lot of years, and as Thailand is still a agriculture based economy, the cuts in farm production costs not easy farmers are still reliant on buying seed ,fertilizer ect on credit and paying it back when they sell they crops ,with interest of course which goes hand in hand with debt ,mainly with the BAAC the farmers bank ,government owned, they say that with compound interest it will take 40 years plus for all the agriculture debt to be paid off. Increased use of machinery that is happening now, but it would help if import tax was reduced of imported machinery, new and second hand that would help development. Water resources, with climate change and bad management, that will take some doing, land reform, the way Thai bureaucracy works that will not happen very quickly. That should keep his in-tray full for a while. -
For tea try Barrys tea look at their web site, they are in Dublin, they do a very good postal service, the tea is not bad. That is about the only thing I miss from the UK. Back to Tesco's they own tea was not bad, but like all Thai supermarkets they stock control is not good they run out of something and that is it for a long time, looking for a Pesto sauce at Big C today..............run out.

Get your machinic to put a voltmeter on the battery with the engine running, it should show 12 volts plus, meaning that it is charging, should not be a dead cell, he should be able to check the battery, to see if it is working. It is an old bike check the wiring harness, almost sounds if they is a dead short in the system, bear wire touching something metal, then it moves away and power is restored?or something like that, corroded wiring, or the rapping around wiring going. Not an easy job with all that plastic on the bike, but it is in they somewhere.

Using a thai license for a U.K. rental car.
kickstart replied to Andrew Dwyer's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Like other posters I have had no problem using a 5- year Thai license, done it twice now . One thing, I found a 60 GBP deduction to Eurocar on my bank statement last time ,the only thing I can think of that it was for speeding ,probable doing say 40 in a 30- limit zone? but at least they cannot put 3 points on my license. The other thing they used the most expensive insurance cover ,again not being a UK license. -
Do it the Thai way, put your bike at the front of the house with ขาย wrote on it, sell in Thai, sign on it no need for the phone number, I see this all the time, friend of mine sold his pickup and motorbike like this, did not take long.

Talking to a friend of mine in the know he said next year quotas and tax on imported milk power will be lifted, making it cheaper for milk companies to use milk powder than whole milk, the Thai dairy industry being so inefficient, could lead to big problems, but he did say it could be a mix say 60-40, milk powder, whole milk, watch this space.
-
That is because it is made from imported, from Australia and NZ. milk powder.

First Batch Of 2,000 Cattle Being Exported To Vietnam
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
sawiwal They are "real cattle "Red Brahman beef bulls, breeding originally come from the USA, they will probably be used by the locals in Vietnam to improve they local stock. Yes, Thailand did import a lot of dairy cattle 30-40 years ago some from Australia dairy, not beef breeds, and a lot from New Zealand, the cattle where Sahiwal x Frisian, idea was the Sahiwal are a tropical breed, cross them with a dairy breed will give you cattle with some resistance to the heat and a big problem tic fever, had a lot in my area known in Australia, as Australian Sahiwal locally as ASKB, Australian Sahiwal kicking Bar Stewards ,and could they kick. This is not new exporting cattle from Thailand to Vietnam,10 years ago a lot of Thai dairy heifers were exported to Vietnam, to increase the dairy herds in Vietnam.
