  1. Thanks for the replies.

A few more questions related to the work permit.

If a business visa is issued 2 months before the work permit application, do you need to pay Social Security for these two months before they will grant you a WP even though you cannot legally work before receiving the WP?

Do I need to pick-up the WP from immigration in person when it is first issued, or can I have a surrogate do this for me?

WP's are not issued by "immigration"

  2. Im flying Thai Airways, any knowledge on how strict they are? What if I said I was leaving by land..

The check-in counters for THAI in Auckland are manned by Air New Zealand employees but with a THAI flight manager supervising. In my experience, they check for either onward travel or visa/re-entry each and every time. I don't know why they are so strict. From Australian airports it's quite random whether they bother to check but not Auckland.

An easy solution if you don't have a visa to is go to one of the airline ticketing offices at the airport and buy a full fare one way ticket from BKK to e.g. Hong Kong and pay cash (not credit card). Then when you return to AKL go back to that office where they will refund the ticket in full. Obviously the full fare ticket is expensive but since you won't use it, that doesn't matter.

An easy solution is to obtain a tourist visa !smile.png

  3. I doubt you will find a surgeon with significant experience of congenital ptosis correction in Thailand .

This is complex surgery and you need to make appropriate inquiry about experience ie numbers of cases undertaken and , of course , outcomes !

This is NOT "simple" eyelid surgery !

    Edit

You may be better seeking advice from the Rutnin Eye Hospital.

  4. Hi Mobi

Sorry to learn about your problems.

As you are continuing to suffer pain and chronic diarrhoea I would urge that you consult with your gastroenterologist urgently.

The analgesic you have is tramadol 37.5 mg and acetaminophen 325 mg. It may be worth asking if it would be helpful for this to be re-evaluated.

There is also a medication called Cholestyramine which you might ask about. (This may help with the diarrhoea

Please see your specialist as soon as possible.

  5. Hi all, hope someone can help me with this question. I'm from Singapore and if say I buy a 1-way ticket to Thailand and wanna stay there as long as I want to, is it possible or must I still leave Thailand after a certain period of time? Thanks.

How do you believe you would qualify to stay as long as you wish ?

  6. A fine of 128,000 minus max fine of 5000 baht would require 615 days at 200 baht a day.

I think that was some baseless rumor or an attempt at scamming somebody.

2006 Chiang Mai , 5000 bt fine and 200 bt per day extension to stay based on retirement. For one year total was 60,000 baht. The person had no clue that they had to report every 90 days. They were busted when they went to renew their extension.

    Is that arithmetic correct ?smile.png
