  1. These days that's the excuse although I am sure if the cops did their job here (LOL....I know) a quick check of his phone would tell another story of what he was doing!!! They are always "glancing" at their phones when driving I see all the time!! Why not put signs up for that you idiots!!! Again...TIT !!
  2. And sometimes accidents like this go down in my books as "Micro-Glances at the phone"!
  3. On the phone no doubt.......the usual reason these days when you see accidents like this.
  4. Canada will hand him over after a promise of no death penalty if returned. He will "not" get bail. Canada has been part of the trend to abolish the death penalty, having done so decades ago. In the 2001 case of United States vs. Burns, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that people cannot be extradited to face the death penalty abroad, unless the country requesting them agrees to keep death off the table.
  5. Thanks for the headline. Yes, most begin as a mystery when fished out naked.
  6. The old "Wet Road" excuse again......face-saving / so much better than saying "I was on my phone".
  7. Yes my thinking too.....as usual, my first guess in an accident like this is not sleep.....it's the good old telephone!!!
  8. My money is on the driver being on his phone when an "accident" like this happens on Thai roads. Let's hope the coppers here are smart enough to look at it first.....oops, I forgot.....TIT!!!
  9. They always have an excuse don't they? No matter last year or Saturday, either day IT WAS ILLEGAL!! (P.S. and your fault you posted it!!)
  10. And the lesson: Don't be on your phone when there are vehicles (especially big ones) stopped in front of you!!!...LOL LOL LOL !!!!
  11. Exactly. And on top of that, you have to make sure the international PIN is activated too. I travel between Taiwan and Thailand and my Taiwan account requires a 6 digit pin (all banks there do). But when overseas it's a 4 digit PIN so I always make sure it's up to date before leaving for anywhere from Taiwan.
  12. Lived in Taiwan 22+ yrs just finished recently (my post above). I had my permanent residency (APRC) and once you have that, you do not need to work and can stay as long as you put in 183 days/year. Of course if you marry there, you got permanent residency (through marriage/different rules) too and can stay throughout. But for me, back around 2006 I got my permanent residency/ APRC after working/paying my taxes and no time in between jobs on an ARC (Alien Resident Card which you get first day of work) for 7 yrs. Today this is down to 5 years. So for anyone to just walk in, you could would have to put in 5 years of work or marry to stay/retire. There is even a new law on my permanent residency, that being when I left in May, I still retain my Permanent Residency for 5 years without even re-entering. And if I re-enter, I am extended another 5 years and so on. But again, like my post above......I never met a person there that retired. Pays well....but too many people / housing prices unreal / humidity index unreal!!

  14. Go to Taiwan all you want if you have the $$$ for housing!! It is unreal and as for temperatures for 8 months of the year, I sure hope you love the humidity index each day!! It's a great place to work as it pays well and I have some insight as I just put in 22+ years there finishing up a few months ago. But I was on the first plane each Chinese New Year holiday for a month and summer holidays July 1st/2 months to Thailand to escape the heat / crowds and why I am here now. As for buying places, my friends would always laugh as when people pass out flyers on the sidewalks for new condos and see one of us coming, they never gave them to us. But in Thailand it was the opposite. Nobody is in Taiwan to retire mostly (unless married and not always all of them stay) and I will say I "never" met one in my 22+ years that did!!
  15. They have this in Taipei, Taiwan for years. Along with reporting of illegal exhausts, dripping A.C.'s onto sidewalks and many many more things. All anonymous and get a code when you call it in. If the people were fined, you call back in 15 days and get something like 40% of the fine. Has worked for years!! Good luck....but again, TIT.
  16. "Everyone who arrives in Thailand must download the Mor Chana mobile app" Is this still a must? And I thought they had problems with this app at the beginning of the year? (people having Androids and overall)
  17. Exactly.....these clowns never release the faces of wanted people for some reason.....and so this violent idiot continues walking the streets with us until he is caught.....but then again.....TIT!!
  18. As soon as he went a different / longer way, I would have just had him stop right away, pay him the meter fee, exit and get another taxi. When I lived in Taipei, the driver always had to pay the first 50-70nt (same baht approx) to the taxi company. So if myself or me/my buddies were boozing and the driver took a longer route/turn, we just had him stop right there. Sometimes, if he did a quick turn, he would owe the company $$ and he definitely lost with us as we were usually going from one end of the city to the other. I am not sure how they do it for sure there in BKK, but that's what I would have done. Ask to stop, pay, no confrontation and they lose/or hopefully lose what they love most......$$.
