  1. To someone whose not from there it's all Liverpool. Bolton, Oldham etc - All Manchester. Sunderland 'boro etc - all Geordie land. Berks, Essex, Kent etc - all London Roughly😁
  2. Huyton's one of the rougher parts of Liverpool?
  3. He was probably going to get off lightly until he uttered these words: “I did not spank her hard. I’ve done this many times before in nightclubs and no one complained. I didn’t do anything illegal. This isn’t a criminal act at all. Why should I be punished? The police can do nothing to me and I’m about to leave Thailand.”
  4. That's right, they can't just be a 'nominee', not legally.
  5. So. If you get caught in Thailand you're probably going to be able to buy your way out of it, doesn't happen in the UK (AFAIK).
  6. I lived in Thailand for 20 years, but I returned to the UK at 53 mainly because I didn't want to run out of money in Thailand. Over the years I had quite a few older-than-me retiree-friends who returned to their home countries, whether it was UK, Aus or USA. The one common reason (or it was a factor)? Healthcare issues.
  7. No longer live there. Also, when living in Bangkok my taxi rides were never (very rarely) more than 2-3km. If my taxi to Lumpini Park was 68 Baht I would just hand over 100 Baht & say "keep the change".
  8. I no longer live in Thailand, but back in the UK I never drink & drive, partly because I need to drive for work. And, never drove in Thailand.
  9. Outside of Bangkok I don't think that I was ever able to get a taxi driver to use the meter.
  10. How about nonces of other nationalities?🙄
  11. I lived in Bangok for 20 years, and for the last 5 years wasn't in a relationship, and wasn't screwing-around either. Couldn't be bothered, money wasn't an issue, and I didn't feel particularly lonely.
  12. English and Scots, that's about 95% of Brits then!😁
  13. In the book "The Last Executioner" the Thai author says that the longest that farang do in Thai prisons is 8 years before being sent to chokey in their home country.
  14. Getting caught wasn't at the forefront of his thinking.
  15. I've long thought that people who get busted for such things in Thailand were doing the same in their home countries. I believe that if you have a drugs conviction you can forget about getting a visa (or ESTA) for the USA?
  16. According to the World Corruption Index Ukraine is even more corrupt than Thailand.
  17. I first visited Thailand in 1985, before the introduction of meters in taxis (or they were introduced around that time). You used to haggle the fare before getting in the taxi.
  18. 25 years ago the flag-fall on the taxi meter was 35 Baht, today it's still 35 Baht, but should be double that. That's where the problem lies.
  19. Interfering in a dispute between complete strangers. How crazy is that!
  20. Whenever I've seen ladies of the night in western countries, usually on TV, I hasten to add, they look as rough as ...... In contrast, many of the Thai 'ladies of easy virtue' tend to scrub-up quite well😝
  21. Many years ago the Australian authorities stated that more Ozzies die in Thailand each year than in any other foreign country.
  22. Who in their right mind keeps that kind of cash lying around (not in a safe), and then invites someone who is probably a complete stranger in? A long time ago when I did do that kind of thing, one rule I had was to always undress for a shower in the bathroom, due to having several thousand Baht in my shorts pocket. I managed to maintain this rule however squiffy (drunk) I was! That is execpt for one rare occasion when a $100 bill disappeared, more fool me.
  23. I never read of Brits acting like diks in other parts of Thailand...only Pattaya. Could it be that it's just the kind of place that attracts such people?
  24. Some years ago a guy from Whitehorse, Yukon posted the local weather conditions there in January on Facebook, it was -40C.
