    Interesting.

I'm convinced, and have been telling others this for a while, that no insurance company on the planet is selling cover for COVID-19 and that most existing policies containing 'known event' clauses either effectively void any claim after pandemic declared or at least provide insurer with a lot of wiggle room.

If i am incorrect in my belief, i'd certainly like to see some evidence of that and, if your insurer does indeed off COVID-19 cover, i am very sure many on TV would like to follow you.

Would you care to name your insurer* so that others can peruse their policy wording?

    * i believe there is no TV rule to prevent you doing this

I received an email from Pacific Cross yesterday telling me that I was covered for the Wuhan Virus and any complications that might arise from it. This includes the cost of testing under most circumstances. I do not think it is allowed to post official emails from insurers here on Thai Visa.

Elite visa no too? Just curious because usually no1 ever mentions it yet I always get Thai prices when using it.

You get Thai prices? Do you mean at National Parks and other private tourist attractions? No kidding? Do you show them the visa in your passport? My experience has been that when I show any Thai this visa, they have no idea what it is and have never seen one. And I mean immigration officials at land borders and bank managers as an example.

Was there any mention of any preferred immigration status when you signed up? I mean beyond being picked up by cart at the jetway and access to some mediocre golf courses?

In the end, it's still just an expensive non-immigrant visa that doesn't even support a work permit.

It is NOT an expensive non-immigrant visa. I wish it was. It is an expensive glorified tourist visa.

Seems laymen know better than the World Health Organisation.

Is that the same World Health Organization that is headed by a Chinese sycophant? The same one that told all countries not to close borders? The one and the same that said Wuhan Virus was not a pandemic? ad infintum

Here we see the big difference between developing countries like Thaiand and developed countries.

Many Western countries are breaking their budgets to compensate people who are laid off work, whether permanent or temporary, as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Here most of those who will be sent home will receive not a single baht from the Government, whose generosity so far has extended to give a 3% discount on electricity and water bills. It's surely time to dig into the reserves and help Thai citizens.

And the situation has now been exacerbated with the closure of shopping malls and markets in Bangkok. How are market traders going to make any sort of living and will stores continue to pay their stay-at-home staff? Come on Prayut, you need to help them....and that doesn't mean giving them a 1,000 baht shopping voucher!

Which money tree should they pluck?

When I went to a local clinic two weeks ago for a sore throat, all the Thais separated themselves from me and gave me a wide berth. My whole family was sick with a fever, a cough, a sore throat after my brother-in-law came back from Bangkok.

I had a temperature as well and I asked to sit separate to everyone but instead, they rushed me straight in to see the doctor without waiting.

I had been only living in my village and not been to town for over a month. I was asked if I had travelled overseas and when I said no, they all breathed a sigh of relief. I just stay in my village and have been nowhere I told them.

Two weeks later I am okay but I had to go back for antibiotics as the cold moved to my chest but it is almost totally gone now.

As far as I can see, every one is terrified. Today we went and had steamed pork at a popular spot for lunch in our village and there was not a person to be seen. We went just to get take-a-way. We got told next time they would be closed but for the next month or so they will be taking Foodpanda orders only.

Looks like in our area, people are being extra careful, ordering in from Foodpanda and just about everyone is wearing a face mask. The feeling of things has changed in the last few days I feel. Let's see what happens.

Antibiotics for a chest cold? Good doctors you have there.

Remember Purachai back in the taxin days? Anutin must be trying to out-do him.

If the govt declares the bars in Pattaya must shut down, stick a fork in it and say goodnight. Property prices will crash, businesses will close and throw people out of work, and crime will increase. Maybe half the locals can take up rice farming again...

I can't believe this is even being considered an option. Govt MIGHT be able to pull this off for a few days or a couple weeks, but if it's longer or indefinite, forget about it.

Yeah, don't we ever remember him? Every time I want to get some beer at a 7-11 or similar venue between 2 PM and 5 PM it brings back not so fond memories of him.

Be extra careful with those. In good condition with no faults they are OK, but they can and do fail in such a way as to give full mains voltage and current. You do not want to find that out up a ladder as the shock may not be deadly but combined with knocking you off the steps it maybe very nasty or terminal.

I agree. I use a multimeter and before I test a circuit I want to work on, I test the multimeter in a live socket first. I have worked on various lighting circuits in various houses in Thailand and more often than not, the neutral is switched instead of the load/live side. I will tell anybody that is planning on working with electricity that if they aren't sure and aren't comfortable about working on it, DON'T do it. It can kill you.

I was riding on BTS earlier today, and there were a couple of Thai teen-age girls in school uniforms chatting in a group.

For the whole time I was riding/standing nearby them, all three had the light blue color drugstore type face masks "on", but pointlessly... Two had them for some reason hanging down below their exposed mouths, and the other one had the mask down below her exposed nose.

I was standing there looking and thinking, "Wonder how they scored on the Thai IQ test?"

They probably did very well on a Thai IQ test. A real IQ test though, not so good.

Well, she is telling as it is. English fisheries are not going to be selling their fish to the EU once the no-deal brexit happens. Enough tariffs, extra paperwork with added costs, added delivery costs and delays will make sure of that.

Again truth. It's not England which puts NHS deal to the table, it's USA which does that.

So much rumbling coming out of this government. I wonder what is the destination this government with it's huge mandate is going to walk away to? Abyss?

As I understand it, the issue is not the Brits selling fish to the EU. It is EU fishermen getting access to British waters to fish.

Secondly, what interest does the USA have in the NHS one way or the other? Doesn't affect them. Canada has it's nearly identical Medicare and they have a free trade agreement with the USA.

I can't see the point of using an agent if you are inside the country, as you are still required to visit the police HQ in person, to give fingerprints?

Or, perhaps the 'agents' are issuing fake police clearance certs ????

From A-Plusservice.com - list of documents required for non citizen residing in Thailand:

"6.The original fingerprint 2 set (Taken by The Thai police PCC at Bangkok by our contact only because in case of you stay in Thailand now you need to take fingerprint by Thai police PCC in Bangkok only ,they will not accept the fingerprint from the local police in Thailand except you stay abroad can take by the local police in your country or from the Thai Embassy)"

I have used A-Plus twice in the recent past and they do not issue fake clearances. They are legit agents. They cost me 4400 baht each time. The reason that you might wish to use them is that the can get it for you in 4 or 5 working days vs a month if you do it yourself. And they will give you a receipt.
