  1. There are two different matters here. One is that after 5 years, your membership finishes. Two is that if you get a one year extension just before it expires is an entirely different matter. What I am trying to say is that the 5 year Visa and the 5 year "membership" are two different creatures. As someone said: from what I have seen, the Privilege Company & Thai Immigration are uneasy bedfellows.

So we can expect more crazy rules coming? For those few "tourists" applying for this new STV Visa it must be like walking into a minefield blindfolded.

When walking into a well prepared minefield, does it make much difference whether one is blindfolded or not? Asking for a friend......

If you really want the medical test done by the book just Google 'nhs in uk'. Every proper clinic can also do this. One urine sample plus the TB- test is what's needed. The other 3 diseases in the list are just visual checks.

I was in Canada a couple of years ago and went to a local private doctors clinic to get that form signed off. I asked the Doc to please sign it and I would be on my merry way. He refused. He told me that the leprosy test would take two weeks to get the results and that the elephantiasis test results would take the same length of time. I gave up.

That has been fixed when they restructured. The new visa class they have since they restructured seems to get 5 year licenses and 1 year entry stamps. But none of those guys seem to get a certificate of entry.

That is not true. I emailed Elite Visa on that very subject and they replied that a person on an Elite Visa can only get a 2 year DL renewal. They said they were trying to change that, but were not getting anywhere with Transport department.

Thailand is going to start letting the Chinese and other low contagious countries citizens back in starting this week. I wonder if you can fly to China, New Zealand or Taiwan and then continue on to Thailand with lower requirements (regardless of your passport)?  And no, I don't know the answer - just thinking out loud... Being former military, I've spent a year and more at times away from my home and family, yet we survived.

As far as I can tell, you have to be a resident of the country that you would be flying from to enter Thailand. For example, if you flew to China and then attempted to get a visa at at the Thai Embassy they would require a Chinese Residence Visa.

Try a google search 'police clearance certificate thailand'

    http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/

On the left side of the page, about half way down, from that link there is a tab with "service to obtain certificate in case of special urgency by Out source". This is a third party agency and I have used them twice. They can get it for you in about 4 working days for about 4500 baht. That is if you don't wish to wait a month or so. For China, you will need to take the police clearance to the Thai Ministry of Consular Affairs and have it authenticated and then to the Chinese Visa office on Phetchaburi Road to have it authenticated there as well. You will more than likely need to do the same with your degree  (if you have one) as well.

It just hit me as to why they are pushing this model so hard. Bali had planned to open up next month but has now slammed shut until 2021, the same as some of the surrounding tourist destination locations.  With that in mind, I am starting to think that Thailand believes they will be the only tropical destination and will be able to capture those tourists who wish to stay warm during there own countries winters.  Does not take a brain surgeon to see how desperate they are and how stringent they will be in implementing such a plan.  Who the hell, other than those that have a house here, have a wife, and plenty of money would even be foolish enough to strand themselves in Phuket for up to 3 weeks before they could get a true vacation or return to their families here.

I spoke to a friend who has a house in Rawai, Phuket.  He and his Thai wife have been stuck in California since last November because of the Visa issues for insurance requirements for a new Non Imm O-A Visa, and then his trying to Obtain an O Visa based upon marriage became a disaster due to the Thai Government and consulate wanting his US marriage certificate and her US green card paperwork all translated into Thai, certified by the US Department of State before they would issue him a visa.  However, just as it appeared they could get back here in March Covid hit and they were stuck. I told him they should have just come back in November and for him to get a 30 day VOA, which he could then convert to an extension, but he did not have the 400,000 to put in the bank to season and he still needed all of the paperwork certified and translated.  Now that he has it all and could get here based upon being married to a Thai, he has instead said they can just freaking shove it up there <deleted>, put his house up for sale, and instead they are buying a Villa in Panama.  This is someone who has lived 6 months here and 6 months in California for the last 20 years.  No more shenanigans he told me this morning.  He is a multi millionaire and can afford whatever he wants but the way Thailand is approaching this he said is just plane lunacy.

Multimillionaire you say? Did not have 400,000 baht? How about an Elite visa? Something doesn't add up.

Starting at the top - how do you define reliable? just because tests aren't 100% reliable doesn't mean they are not a very useful tool in at the very least tracking the spread of the virus. Germany and South Korea have used them successfully.

What kind of help does Thailand need from the rest of the world? Until a vaccine or cure is found there is not much Thailand needs apart from money but that goes for most countries.

Despite what Trump may tell us, the virus is not fake. it is very real and hundreds of thousands have died from it. Natural immunity can only be gained if you survive the disease, and no-one, not even you, know you can. Also there may be no long term immunity from it anyway and different strains could evolve. Just look at the suffering caused by people who believed that the MMR vaccine was dangerous - poorly educated  fools who were taken in by nutters spouting rubbish without any real facts to prove what they were saying or twisting and misinterpreting information for some unknown reason.

Thai roads are certainly far more dangerous than the virus but that is setting the bar rather low. What you also have to consider is how important tourism is - people can avoid roads but think it is harder to stay isolated from the virus, so wrongly perceive the virus as more of a threat. I agree roads are a much more serious risk and need much more effort put into making them safer.

All governments/politicians lie and cover up to suit themselves. This Chinese flu would not have spread as easily if the CCP cared for people more than itself, is a great example of this. But just as bad are those who blindly disbelieve everything without looking at the facts and the compromises all governments must make. How would you run a country? Is North Korea or China the way to go or would you prefer to live in the UK or Canada? Unfortunately your dream Government will never exist and never can exist unless you want to return to the stone age. Just use your brain and look at the bigger picture as policies, rules and laws are not made just for you but, in the free world at least, you can influence them.

Trump at no time, said that the virus was fake

@jackdd Yes, I saw your post which is what got me stirred up. It seems there is always a contradiction when it comes to "official" immigration announcements LOL!

In that same thread you posted to, @ubonjoe (who really knows his stuff) said:

It is certainly deferred until September 26th according to what the cabinet approved.

I think the August 31st date is a suggestion for those that normally need to do 90 day reports due to being on long stay extensions.

Those the entered as tourists and on multiple entry visa can still skip them if they want to.

So, I'd take his word for it that Sep 26 os the ACTUAL deadline.  My question remains...what is the time frame window during which you can do it online?  THAT is the question I hope somebody can answer.  Is it the usual 5-15 days before the deadline???  Anybody know for sure???

I did mine online July 21 which was 14 days prior to required date. I was approved the next day.

    I don't think so.

I have been keeping my 90 days reports "up to date" and recently renewed online. I tried 2 days earlier than required ( 12 days before, instead of 10 days) and it wasn't accepted.

So I can imagine anyone whose 90 day report is overdue will not be able to do it online.

It is possible the immigration bureau has removed this restriction, but somehow I don't think they are so technically minded.

I did mine 14 days prior to the required date and it was accepted and then approved the following day.

  11. If you simply go to the police headquarters in Bangkok and do it yourself, it will take over a month to get it. If you use this outfit, they can get it in 4 working days and you won't need a letter from anyone. They are somewhat pricey though at over 4000 baht. They are also recommended on the Royal Thai Police website. https://www.a-plusservice.com/    I have used them twice and they deliver as advertised.

As ChouDoufu mentions, if you need to get it legalized, you need to go to the Department of Consular Affairs at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That place can be a madhouse, so if you are so-inclined, there are touts or agents hanging around that will get it done for you for around 800 baht. You can then pick it up the next day from them. A-Plus will also get it for you but at a higher cost.
