What countries have closed borders that don't allow entry to its own citizens ?
Trinidad & Tobago: "On 21 March, National Security Minister Stuart Young announced the closure of all borders to everyone (including nationals & non nationals) effective midnight on Sunday 22 March. "

Those countries that closed their borders such as Australia, New Zealand and Thailand that rely on tourism for a significant part of their economy are either going to have to open up and let COVID 19 do its worst, which is not very much for 99.9% of people, or remain closed for years and kiss goodbye to tourism, airports, airlines, hotels etc.

This, I believe could be the flaw in Thailands approach - it has to remain locked down for so long that the cure / prevention becomes far worse than the disease.
I suspect Covid-19 will spread in pockets and waves, we will live with it, we (the world) will eventually develop an immunity.
Countries which have been more severely impacted will already have greater herd immunity. Counties which have isolated themselves may find that they are ‘hit’ once they open up again. All they have done in waiting too long is to delay the inevitable and damaged their own economy in the process.
The UK is softening its lockdown despite continued numbers of Covid-19 cases (815 cases on July 29 - on a diminishing trend from 2905 on May 29) - There are still lots of cases in the UK, lock down is being lifted - it would seem the government has decided ‘herd immunity’ is the way forwards.
There are still lots of questions.
I’m wondering if immunity from Covid-19 is a thing - can someone catch Covid-19 a second time within a couple of years and experience serious or life threatening symptoms ?
I’m wondering if most of the country (UK) have been exposed to Covid-19 or not, or if they will in the coming months.
I’m wondering if Thailands numbers are real or if Covid-19 has not already spread through the nation and most were asymptotic.
I’m wondering if Thailands numbers are accurate, and if Covid-19 spreads through the nation once Thailand opens up if its not going to be hit incredibly hard.
I agree with your train of thought and would add: what is the end game here? Are the governments of countries like Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, etc that are striving to be virus free planning to keep their countries closed forever? Or are they keeping their countries closed hoping that a vaccine or cure will be developed? It seems to me that the USA, UK, Europe, South America are taking the right approach. At some point herd immunity will be achieved and those areas can go back to "normal". What if there is never a vaccine? There is still no vaccine for HIV and no successful vaccine has ever been developed for a Covid type virus.

Used to have an account and credit card with SCB and their policy was to deposit twice the monthly credit card limit in a separate account as you describe. Bangkok Bank is equal amount as you are now aware.
Any Thai banks out there that don't demand a separate deposit?
My Bangkok Bank Mastercard credit card limit is 50K but had to be secured with 100K on deposit. But I have had that setup since before the year 2000

No fee from my Australian Credit Union for the transfer.. no fee into BB.. and low fee and good exchange rate from TW.. Is there some advantage to using a credit card like this? Reminds me of going to a bank years ago to see about a loan to build a house.. they said I could borrow 500,0000 Bt... IF I deposited 500,000 Bt as security !!??
Some vendors such as car rental agencies don't accept Debit Cards, only Credit Cards.

SCB is an anti Farang bank. During the pandemic some branches were banning Farangs. They enjoy making things difficult for their Farang customers.
Agree 100%. There is a branch on the ground floor of my condo who refused to let me open an account. Same old BS about work permits and such. I let my Thai coins accumulate until I have a 2 quart jar full. I then go to that branch and have them exchange them for banknotes. I do not separate or count the coins beforehand. The teller has to do all that while I stand there with a smug smile on my face. My little bit of payback.....

Put some liquid soap into a spray bottle mixed with water. Spray around the base of the toilet. If there is a leak you will see a bubble(s). Use silicon sealant to seal it up. 9 times out of 10, the sewer smell will be coming from around the base of the toilet. If there is a leak there, it does not mean that liquid will leak out either. But sewer gas will.

I always used an agent to renew a retirement extension. I never stepped foot inside immigration in Jomtien. Went to the agent's premises, dropped off required documents, picked up passport (with extension) the next day.

A pragmatic decision that restores a reasonable measure of normality while retaining some restrictive aspects that presumably will retain a reminder of personal responsibility. Yes there are some unknowns as yet that people might have also presumed unnecessary that remain.
The fact remains,in spite of the critics and doubters, that for whatever reason Thailand has so far escaped the horror story of other places. The irony of that is that so many of the TVF critics originate from those horror story locations.
14 days more will see if the story changes. While the Thai general population may become accustomed to coping with the Covid-19 measures of limitation how many and how quickly will they also gain a measure of awareness of the seriousness of global political agitations?

If you did not get an e-mail from your local IO, you need to check the status yourself.
You can go there directly >
https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTermA window opens with a blue (notify), green (check) and orange (cancel) option
Click the green option (check the status of your application)
A new window opens, where you can either fill-in
- the reference number OR
- your passport information
Having filled in the information, your full data appear at the bottom of the screen
It can say Pending or Approved.
When approved > click the small icon at the end of the row, which will allow you to print or save a scan of the Approval Notification (with next due date) which you are supposed to keep in/with your passport.
You are right in everything you say except for the next due date. It is not there. That is why I asked my original question.

As for flynn, he lied to the Vice President, then lied to the FBI about lying to the VP. In anyplace other than a Banana Republic, that would consititute a criminal offense.
History will show trump passed while serving time for a whole host of crimes. Likely the new AG Kamala Harris will have him cuffed and perpwalked off President Biden's Inaugural Stage on 20 January 2021, drawing cheers from what will be the largest Inaugural crowd ever, even topping President Obama's massive crowd.

I just did my 90 day report online. It was due on May 20 but I did it on May 7th. It was approved on May 8th. What date is my next 90 day report due? 90 days from May 20, or 90 days from my approval date of May 8th?

Can't speak for your Oz bank, but my HSBC accounts in UK and HK give a far worse rate than Bangkok Bank. So I let BKB do the currency exchange.
Agreed. Bangkok Bank gives me a far better rate receiving USD than my DBS Singapore bank does on sending USD.

I got a refund from AirAsia one time. Here's how it went.
1. Apply for refund on the website.2. Get an email a few days later that doesn't make sense.
3. Phone them up and ask what to do.
4. Every passenger had to write a letter to the airline authorizing them to deposit the refund into my bank account.
5. Scanned all the letters and signed copies of everyone's ID6. Refund still took ages but eventually came. I'd say about 60 days total.
They make it complicated on purpose so that some people won't bother and they ge to keep the money. Also they purposefully make their refund department short-staffed so that people have to wait longer for processing, that way the money stays in their account and earns interest for longer.
You will, eventually, get your money back though.
Funny how the b-stards take exactly 2 seconds to deduct the cost of a flight from one's credit card but it takes them 45 days to return a refund to the same card.
