I have spent the better part of my life in Newfoundland - we know our fish and I like you have made many attempts to prepare the frozen fillets with zero luck. I know they are flash frozen and keep fresh for months but something with this species in particular just doesn't cut it once frozen.
The only time I've come close is if I wrap the filet with Parma ham. I've also made an egg white/mayo batter and that seals the flavour in nicely but I'm having issues with a convection oven here. It's simple to do 4 eggs whites, fold in a tablespoon of salad cream or mayo and on the fish spritz some lemon juice then apply the egg white batter and bake.
I'm back to snapper and grouper and salmon for gravlax only.

Forget Waitrose. Go to Argos and buy a set of cast iron pots and griddle pan.
You don't need perishable foods...except maybe a nice cheese or three....
You hit the nail on the head - I forgot about my well seasoned cast iron frying pan that is a must have here.

I prefer a glass - not so bothered about it being cold and ice well that's just wrong. I have a couple of gift with purchase beers glasses at home, I wish I brought them there is something about drinking Chimay from a Chimay glass.
Edit: forgot to add the FIL uses the bottles as an ashtray so I prefer not to drink from them

It's out of the way but an easy ride on the MRT - Kamphaeng Phet MRT (one station past Chatujak) Exit number 3 - Farmers Market (Or Tor Kor Market) Saturdays and Sundays only I believe. Picked up some this past week end 300 baht a kilo and were really good. If you haven't been to the market it's well worth the hike the quality of the veg and fruit is really good.

As mentioned some of the Waitrose items are here but you'll pay. If your into reading the ingredients on labels forget it here as they cover them with super duper glue on labels, so maybe familiarise yourself with a few items before you come.
Maldon Sea Salt 200 gram 385 baht, maramite 165 baht, Waitrose self rising flour 189 baht.
I'd be packing sweets myself

As a licenced Pharmacist - this should be Doctor or Pharm D only - it's habit forming and without proper consultation can create real havoc for some patients.
Perhaps this should be moved over to the health forum ? for specific answers as to the ramifications of self prescribing.

I used to give the nieces and nephews one thousand baht to kick start their savings - it worked like a charm and luckily they are really good at it and proud to tell me what they've saved - sadly freaking Apple keeps coming out with new toys that eat away at their savings.
I do believe some Thais live in fear of being poor and guide themselves accordingly - it's the speculative investing I haven't caught onto.

It looks like fun to shuffle the snow, ten minutes later - when will the snow melt ? In four months - why it's sunny today.

Gateway Mall at Ekamai is dead and there are offers on TV's about 2000 less expensive than I've seen elsewhere. I don't know if it's a sale or just desperate for business.

There used to be two of them. I've seen two of them of the same colour! but not recently, only the one with the collar now
Was there today and I was looking for him but couldn't find him anywhere - silly isn't it a grown man running around looking for a cat but it makes me smile when I see him.

Nicely done, decent hotels and nice beaches. I think I would have made a better model or at least that's what I was told
Not sure where they will air this piece or if it's meant for online advertising only but every gay person I know is aware Thailand is gay friendly. I suspect the TAT got co-op funds from those hotels and then checked a box "we've marketed to the gays" and that's about all we'll see.
BTW I've never spent a pink dollar - I pay in loonies or twonies or pounds labels grrrrr

This is the unit- free delivery in Bangkok and to Hua Hin 300 to 500 to your home not the store. Item takes 10 days to order. This unit is a Mitsibushi and they weren't sure if you could order it there or not.
Apologies the pictures are bad - I was rushing because of a low batt & sorry you'll have to turn your head

Ad agencies seem to live on a planet of their own. I often watch ads on the TV and wonder what on earth their point is.
There's a guy called Robert Bly who wrote what's considered to be the bible of copywriting. He points out that writing copy or producing adverts is meant to sell stuff not win awards.
Even if it's bad at least they are talking I guess ? but pick on someone else please
Thanks for the name of Mr. Bly I will read up on him.

They obviously weren't...
Good job I only use butter
It's really amasing this would be approved in this day and age, and yes to butter made a batch the other day and inlaws and family devoured it.

Pick a decent hotel for a couple of days and people watch.
Go with the flow - you'll know what to do next.
It's your last visit so try really really hard to meet a Thai and spend as much time with them and let them guide you - watch them smile and wai when you least expect it, It's amazing to see their eyes light up over the things we take for granted.
It's the people that make the country.
Oh ya all of the above places are great suggestions.

Thanks, there is a home pro in Hua Hin so I'll take a look there and see if they have it. I believe it's a regular Home Pro, not a Home Pro plus. I've been there before and it's a pretty big store, perhaps similar in size if not bigger then the one you went to on Sukhumvit so maybe I'll get lucky.
A photo or model number might come in useful when I'm down there. If they don't have it maybe they can order it for me.
Done- I'm there everyday I'll post pics and model tomorrow. I'm thinking of picking one up myself and also curious if any other members have suggestions.

I was in Home Pro Plus in Bangkok today (Phloen Chit) BTS Wireless Road and saw a unit that matches what you described. I believe it was around 11.000 THB - I'm going back tomorrow if you'd like I can take a picture- let me know & I can ask about shipping to Hua Hin. Doing a house makeover so all the staff are great to me

That is brilliant - Thank you for sharing.
The problem with my attachment thingy on the meat grinder is there are so many bloody parts to clean after so I love your gadget.

Whenever I go for a walk after supper I always ask (being polite) if anyone would like to join me- before I can even get the words out I hear NO.
The FIL is always shocked when I buy ice and it's still frozen when I arrive home (7 minute walk), I freaked him out and loaded a pedometer on his phone - he broke 1000 steps the other day actually 1088 and is now looking for lotto tickets with those numbers.

A true legend, 74 is far too young.
I asked my Father why he wore red socks - he replied they came with his Knighthood.

I'm also a newbie to Thai Visa, I have a very close friend who was/is a member for some time who begged me to join, I really wish I had years ago. The gay forum is interesting - just toss out your ideas most won't bite & you'll learn lots. The sub forums are really full of great information to help ease the learning curve. I've had lots of fantastic PM's and it's a great way to meet new people.
In my next life I really want to be 23 living in Chiang Rai.
