No hesitation to tell porkies.
In reality he doesn't care what the other countries think about him, and his less than truthful comments.
He's just trying to make Thai people believe that other countries support his regime.
Less than honest / no hesitation to twist what others say.
Is this guy appropriate to occupy the very senior position of foreign minister?
I said a few days ago that Surapong was twisting the statements made by foreign diplomats - at no time have any of them offered support for the current Thai government which IMO by it's very absence is being critical of PTP, as far as I'm aware no foreign government have issued statements in support of PTP which by it's omission means they are not in support
PTP twisting the truth/telling lies - didn't expect anything less as they've been doing it for 2 1/2 years
Both sides twist facts to their convenience. Fact.

For us is a day like another, except for the gift openings under the tree tonight.
Me and my wife are working, my kids goes to school...
Sure it's not a traditional Christmas as it had been in my childhood, but still keep a little joy for today.
And if it makes the kids happy for gifts, so it's still a good thing.

Maybe Abhisit, Suthep, and Yingluck should stop to involve external governments, as they not play any part in their game now.
Citing or boasting about Embassies or Foreign Government, twisting their opinion to their use is just a dirty and silly game.
By the way, Khun Somchai from Loei, or from Nakhon Si Thammarat, or from Chiang Rai, will not give a dam_n of what a Foreign Government, Embassy, or diplomat...
Abhisit could be a good politician, but sometimes really can't do without follow the silly circus.

I think what this guy is saying is neither xenophobic nor biased against all foreigners. What he is saying is why are the foreigners
supporting corruption? This government is corrupt. It does not represent the Thai people fairly. He is not trying to take away votes
from the poor people but rather give them the vote. Vote buying and voter fraud take away votes, plain and simple.
To think that Taksin has been good for the foreigners is pretty much a joke, unless of course the 30 visa runs to his casinos, an exit tax etc is a plus.
The question that needs to be asked, without insinuating there are no educated Thais etc, why are there foreigners supporting
the totally corrupt government? He does have a point, and if you are contributing to undermining the forming of a real "republic" where
the people, all people are fairly represented, what are you doing and why?
This is exactly the way Democrats+Suthep and Shin clan are playing. Put everyone in the "Or me, or against me" cauldron.
And it's a pity to see how many foreigners are short-sighted to fall in the game as well.
I guess very few foreigners are Thaksin supporters, but everyone who hates Thaksin, and being rabid toward him, likes to think that who not likes Suthep and his ways, are Thaksin supporters...
And I think you did not read the guy post. The guy was saying practically, that foreigners doesn't even have the right to complain against the disruption that protests snd city blockages are provoking, again and again...
Foreingers should just shut up, and he call them animals, "go to die". Oh well, if it's not xenophobic that, what would be it then?

Guys but can you realize that for each "red shirt farang" there is at least another "yellow shirt farang" around?
It's called freedom of speech.
The reason why I asked numbers (and I'm anyway aware no one has any idea of that) it's because it's possible that some foreigner joined protests in 2010 (sure not in the violent clashes).
I also anyway witnessed with my eyes to some foreigner joining protests on Sunday. So: as I asked before: is thai public opinion influenced by the fact that some foreigner joined protests in 2010?
I think not.
Westerner media playing games? I think they express their opinions. Freely and maybe biased toward democracy as westerners think it should be. Guess what? That democracy never existed in Thailand and will never exist with mass manipulators as Thsksin and Suthep are...

Actually a lot of what is written sounds like a typical TV rant you see everyday, can't see what the problem is he is entitled to his opinion and some of what he says is true, Thailand IS full of farang losers
Thanks God I am not a loser, I have a good job, my happy family, kids, and I respect all Thais.
I am not keen to respect opinions of who insults other people, out of any respect.
Maybe you believe Thailand is full of farang losers because your hanging out with the wrong crowd!
I think you quoted the wrong one. I wanted to say the opposite... You should have quoted Soutpeel.

as irrational and emotionally immature his words may sound, they do represent the widespread attitude towards farungs many Thais seem to have, openly advocated by Suthep and his followers. It would be quite likely, once they get to power on the political vote-buying-military-coups-merry-go-round, that farung expats will get hard times ahead in Thailand.

I'm guessing none of this gentleman's family went to a foreign school right? don't drive foreign cars? watch foreign TVs, let alone get foreign medical care? clothes, computers? and all that jazz?
nationalism is, actually, what destroys nations - we need a more inclusive world not exclusive. This "I am Thai" nationalistic arrogance does not help this country as much as "I am American" or "I am French" so what? our poo all smells the same
Ah the old colonial attitude of if it wasn't for us they would still swinging in the tree's line !
The truth is always in the middle... Sure khun Pathonpong is on the ather edge...
And I don't see in binjalin post anything wrong, he only spoke about him and his family, nothing arrogant toward all Thais.
And binjalin made a good point: All ultra nationalism is dangerous, not only Thai ultranationalism.

He's a vet. Wow. Should I bow to his superiority because he went to chula? Wooooo. He must be weely weely smart..
What got up his nose?
While the TVF "red-shirt farangs" remain anonymous, I recall those identified and deported in 2010. Relatively speaking, he most certainly is really smart.
He also happens to be engaged in an occupation for which I have a lot of respect.
Red shirt farangs? Anonymous? What are you talking about buddy?
And which respect you can have on someone put some similar rant on the net?
Please note that he hates all "farangs", no distinctions, so you are included...
Merry Xmas...
Please note your assumption is not supported by the given facts.
Anonymous; it means we have no idea who is posting here, though some do with a bias to a corrupt regime and a willingness to accept Thaksinist propaganda combined with a simplistic 1 man-1 vote policy which over-rides all other facets of democracy.
And it doesn't surprise or dismay me at all that some Thais may disapprove, not so much of TVF, but when they appear at red shirt rallies and protests.
Do you have some numbers of foreigners involved in Red Shirt protests?
Do you think the hatred against foreigners is because of that?

"Fed up with red-shirt farangs," he added in the comment section after a long debate. "Been fed up for a long long time. Go and die… I'm not threatening anyone."
Has he been reading TVF?
If he read Thai Visa, he sure would have spotted many example of extremist foreigners, both sides. Consequentially he should have not been fed up...

Whoever, red, yellow, democrat, communist, anarchic gives credit to Suthep for this last rant, is totally out of track...
How can he blame EC choosing another venue when he seized the designed one?
Gosh the two factions shows stupidity more and more, day by day.

LOL! What a news!!!
Wilson accused... By who??? Any reference? Any interview?
Nothing... Just build a story from a viral picture.
The usual BS on Thai press. All Thai press is just the same. This cannot be even considered an article.
No sources, only speculations and some twit. Oh gosh...

You just say that you are supporting yourself. Then if they want proof show some form of proof that you have funds coming into the country from abroad. The best proof would be a Thai bank book showing transfers in.
This is going to really hurt a lot of English Teachers that have been using the ED visa while they teach.
The only income they have is teaching but they are not going to be able to show it.
This is also going to mean more work for Embassies as they are going to have to verify the income much like they do for us younger folk.
Should be interesting to see how this works out.
I agree though with all the abuse it is about time they did something to resolve the abuse.
If you have an ED Visa, you cannot work. So teachers, must get a Visa accordingly to the reason they stay in Thailand, that clearly is NOT an ED Visa.

I've just watched the Child's Play pentology with my girlfriend, as these are her favourite farang movies (I got an intellectual one).
According to Chucky, violins are bad, not violence.
As long as you're happy with it, enjoy violence then...
World is nice because people can have different opinions, so your comment was welcome... As long as we respect each other.
Just for the record, I am all for mutual respect, and a fictional killer doll doesn't really influence my views. I was just trying to create some levity.
Lol, sometimes I miss the irony or the humor in posts... That's the bad point to not be a English born speaking, I guess.
My bad if I misunderstand your post then...
Cheers!

Violence is always wrong, by both sides... Whoever did it, sure didn't help the cause.

Hopefully all the guilty murderers will serve jail terms enough to see the jail walls collapse for their age.
A little funny thing: when protests begun some poster said, the majority wants this government out, government does not have any support anymore because no one shows support on the streets for them.
Then they came to Bangkok, and... someone else condemned them to come to build problems...
I am sure not me, not any other poster here has any right to say when someone can or cannot come to Bangkok to protest. Civil protests are a right for everyone.
Pity that in the Ramkhamhaeng clashes, both groups showed to be composed by thugs, lowlife people, and both sides did not make anything to avoid what happened. It could have been much worse, if brilliant minds like Jatuporn, Suthep and the rector of Ramkhamhaeng University would have continued to play like playschool children accusing each other and let their supporters killing each other.

It's interesting (if unsurprising & ultimately depressing) to discover that this set of posts is a microcosm of the polarization accelerating within Thailand. In the pursuit of true reconciliation, if that is possible, and in order to discover which if any posters are willing or able to suspend their rabid and pointless tit-for-tat posts, I wonder if we can all agree to the following:
1. Bangkok is economically vital to Thailand's future but its population does not constitute an electoral majority.
2. The current round of protests are large but smaller than previous turnouts.
3. Reform is preferable within a democratic framework.
4. A coup (military or civilian) will create more problems than it solves.
5. Thaksin was corrupt in office. (BKK land purchases etc.)
6. Suthep was corrupt in office (Phuket land sell-offs, palm oil 'deals')
7. An anti-corruption movement is not ideally led by a corrupt politician.
8. The attempt by Yingluck to pass an amnesty bill was crude, blatant and an insult to those that died in 2010.
9. True reform of the political system to make it less viable to influence by big money is absolutely necessary.
10. No family should inherit influence in a true democracy.
11. Pre-Thaksin political parties largely ignored the plight of the poor in favor of policies that benefitted their Bangkok supporters.
12. Thaksin upset the status quo by garnering support from the above.
13. All political parties, to a greater or lesser extent, attempt to buy votes.
14. Most of the electorate vote for the party that promise to raise their living standards, as compared to this benefit election bribes are tiny.
15. Most Thai politicians/protest leaders of all colours are egotists/power hungry.
16. The above runs counter to the central tenets of Buddhism.
17. The country will be worse off if each side continues to reject the position of the other.
18. To move forward, justice needs to prevail for ALL who have committed crimes.
19. To move forward, ALL parties need to cater to the needs of ALL Thais not only their supporters/constituents
20. Without sincere compromise from all sides, Thailand is heading for civil war.
I wonder how many you can consider & agree to. You will, of course, need to set aside your passions for a while. If you're a true Buddhist, that should be easy.
Definitely I agree with every single point. Your post is right on the spot.
This is not moment for get irate and rabid, put cool down and try to make some constructive debate, leaving conflicts and extremism apart.
I surely agree on all 20 points, and wish a better future for Thailand and my family...

Too many posts here are full of hatred, extremism and insults.
We criticize Thai people for the way they face things in everyday life, but many of us are not really that different, right?
And it's totally appalling to see how some poster get a post against an idea or against some people as an offence thrown to him.
Guys, let's make a big laugh and try to keep a decent level.
I am not making any comments today to avoid being called names or more. This thread became almost unreadable :/

The numbers are way down. On both sides. The dems are frightening the majority with autocratic rule. The Shins have disappointed everyone, including their own constituents.
A contract seems like a good idea, if people sign it and are legally bound to adhere.
The devil is in the details. I for one hope they solve this with all concerned having a say in policy. Both sides are very far from the Middle Way that the Lord Buddha espoused. The see saw is broken, and it seems neither side wants balance.
Stop this stonewalling, please. People are going to get hurt if you cannot compromise.
This is one of the most balanced and with most common sense posts I read in last two months here.
Compromise is the only way to go out of this situation, and serious commitment to make reforms to make everyone in Thailand have same rights, and make democracy works at its best. Not democrazy like it is now.
Hatred and threats (by both sides) just make the country goes one step toward the abyss...
My kudos to you.

Thailand needs some reasonable, level headed people to be part of this reform process, Suthep and his bloodthirsty zombie sheep are the most unbalanced segment of Thai political society, they should be banned from any politcal contribution until they can calm down and behave like adults.
I have quite a few friends attending the current protests. They are not fans of Suthep, but want changes. And they are hardly bloodthirsty nor zombie sheep.
I guess Moonao was referring to leaders of protest and security/extremist thugs participating at protests. Sure the majority is just tired of the actual situation and protest in opportune way.
But the hatred, the strong words, the verbal violence and the absurd requests of Suthep, sure don't help the movement.
I myself, agree with the general motives of protests, but totally against Suthep's Inc. ways.

So sorry for Abhisit and Korn, I would like to see someone with modern ideas and with skill for reform Thai politics, but IMHO they should not side with that fanatic S.
I hope reason will prevail and reforms will be done (not from PTP, because they will never do), but I feel like a chance have been lost already when Abhisit was PM... Now will be so hard, too hard,
-
^ i think abhisit and korn (and any other reasonable people among the democrats) should consider making a fresh start away from all the robber barons and other various shysters
this is 2013 and with the power of the media (especially social media) it wouldn't take long to establish themselves if they offer what the majority of thai people really want (albeit subconsciously)... i.e. a modern positive forward-looking and non-divisive democratic government with sensible economic policies to achieve equity for all thais (regardless of shirt colour)
I totally agree with you. This country and these times, need balanced people that can make reforms for avoid that game of power like this we are watching now and these we watched in last 7 years will go on.
Abhisit and Korn are respectable and with a good background for do that, as long they are not mixed with Benito wannabes.
If they can cut their relationship with who doesn't need the good for Thailand but for themselves, they are a good base to begin with.
