Hope for same-sex marriage still a faint glimmer in Thailand
nrasmussen replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I agree. I find it quite tiresome that as soon as the word "gay" is mentioned the haters invariably start oozing out of the woodwork. It makes you wonder why they are so obsessed with the subject. I once read the following possible explanation: "Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies." If that is true it certainly explains a lot. -
Hope for same-sex marriage still a faint glimmer in Thailand
nrasmussen replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why all the talk about special rights for gays when the issue is equal rights? As an example of how this can be done let me quote the Danish marriage act: "The law applies to marriage between two persons of different sexes and between two persons of the same sex." [Translation from Danish by Google] In addition, as far as I can tell, nowhere in the act is mentioned anything about man, woman, husband, wife. All references are to spouses and parties. This is genuine equality - it really is as simple as that! -

New 90 Day online still Pending ?
nrasmussen replied to Brick Top's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I submitted my report on the new website two weeks ago and it seemed to be stuck in pending status. Since my report date is tomorrow I thought I might just as well try to submit a report on the old website too and two hours later I got an email and it was approved. And 30 minutes after that it was also approved on the new website - email and all! Office: Songkhla Immigration, Hat Yai. -

And if they want my business and it's cash only - no sale. That's pretty easy for me. -

Just now received confirmation (SMS) of appointment 2021-10-21 15:00 at Bangkok Hospital Hat Yai. -

I asked them about it right now and they replied that 2021-10-21 was a tentative date as they haven't yet received any vaccines, but they hoped to do so at the beginning of next week and that they will confirm the appointment date when they do. -

That's encouraging. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I'll get a confirmation soon, too. -
When I originally signed up (Bangkok Hospital Hat Yai) and they asked me what vaccine I was looking for, I told them that I didn't care about brand or type or if I had to pay or not, and that I just wanted the first one available. So when I got my first injection that turned out to be AstraZeneca for free and that's also what they have told me that I will get the second time.

My Mor Prom app now shows 2021-10-21, so hopefully that will be the day. -

Yeah, I got the same message too. Interestingly, though, nothing has changed in the Mor Prom app as it still shows my original appointment date 2021-10-08. -
Life in Thailand possible without the Vaccine?
nrasmussen replied to AmericanMusashi's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Yes, but only until a sufficiently large part of the population have been vaccinated. The sooner that happens, the sooner things can get back to normal. -
The point I was trying to make is that just being old does not necessarily imply that one is incapable of using modern technology. I do, however, acknowledge that, regardless of age, it can be a challenge for some people. Regarding your last question, I agree that there are plenty of apps around that are not user-friendly, but registering on this particular app actually seems pretty straightforward.

I fail to see what age has to do with being "tech minded" or not. To wit, neither of my parents, at 89 and 93 years of age, respectively, have any problems operating computers or smartphones.

I find it hard to believe that anyone in this day and age would travel anywhere without a smartphone.

Do you object to being asked if you’ve been vaccinated?

Here is how that works in my home country: https://en.coronasmitte.dk/corona-passport -
Perhaps he doesn't socialise with nutcases. Personally, I certainly try not to do that.

Thailand’s herbal heroes stand ready to fight against COVID-19
nrasmussen replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"A recent study showed that 90 percent of mild COVID-19 cases improve after taking Fah Talai Jone pills. The results of this research are so encouraging that DTAM is now considering using the herb on patients with more severe symptoms." It would have been nice if the article also mentioned how many percent of the control group that showed similar improvement.
