  1. I have just gone though it, with my new Work Permit. While the old WP had address, the new one does not so on the day when I went there to get the appointment they did ask me to obtain a certificate of residence (either ex your Embassy or Immigration). I got one at Immigration on the same day, took me about 2 hours wait -easy peasy. Do not forget to ask at DLT the web address and code to perform the Online Training at your home any day before your appointment. Once Training is over (about 1hr with some checks) you will get a QR code, save it and show during the process on the day of appointment. As per medical certificate, if you will go by Sukhumvit Soi 99 DLT, I do recommend to get one on the same day of the appointment at the small clinic located opposite side of Sukhumvit 50mt north from BTS exit. Fast and cheap (I think 140-150 THB or so, 5min wait). Note there are three counters in the DLT office for the booking and the start of process, one of them is for Foreigner, queue there.
  2. never heard of. In theory is not mentioned how many times via air, in practice the IO can flag if he/she suspect might come to work or spend too much time in the Kingdom and can deny entry next time. Better she get a proper Visa in Manila.
  3. The only rule for denying entry is lack of funds. Other are just guidelines, however when refused to entry what they can officially stamp on passport is only the "lack of funds", even though one can prove to have.
  4. trying to imitate Conor McGregor vs the Miami Heat mascot
  5. I did pay 500 THB but then realized it has been a "hidden fee" - first time for me did not know where to go etc. and one officer did "help". Next time will do by myself as now I know what to do and which office to go.
  6. My 25 + years experience travelling and living in Bangkok - used to be, no longer LOS. Eyes on mobiles, annoyed expression. Better Vietnam or Indonesia for genuine smiles
  7. One of the safest Countries to wear a Rolex in Asia. I have my 90's Pepsi GMT anytime anyday since 12 years and never felt threatened. In my hometown (Milan, Italy) I only wear my Casio.
  8. You have to do it. Every time I go out of the Country I have to provide passport and stamp to the landlord, they file TM30. Every time I host visitors to sleep by us, the Landlord ask their passports for their TM30.
  9. Hi Tod, just one point - I am BOI employee since 12 years, I did change 2 companies in the meantime and in the change with new WP/Cancellation of old Visa / Stamp of new Visa did manage to do all in one day at Chamchuri. My wife and kids did always get their annual Visa at Chamchuri Square too, with me. Companies always organized Visa renewal with lawyer firm.
  10. They will not notice nor check upon leaving do not worry I did it many times and then upon entry back, my 90 days will reset
  11. For the residence, try with your Embassy if you are registered there at current address and/or as expat living in the Kingdom.
  12. It is active. I have to provide passport to my landlord every time I am back to TH and they register me to Immigration. Same if I plan to invite and host relatives I need to provide Juristic person their passports for TM30.
  13. TM 30 is still very much required Juristic person at my condo just yesterday sent info to all tenants about the need to inform the property 48hrs in advance of any relative of friends of tenant stay at the condo as they need to inform Immigration. As per myself, every time I fly out and come back have to inform property and they will register me back online at Immigration
  14. Motobai taxis near my condo often bring me or my wife for free knowing we will pay back later or the following day. Depends upon the guys there.
  15. I have been living some recent years in both Countries. Philippines have been under Spanish colonization for centuries and -similarly to Indonesia under Dutch colonialism- they did not develop properly unlike the rest of SEA, being more crushed and exploited rather than developed. The Japanese and American did add the cherry on the cake in more recent times. Furthermore the Country is scattered in thousands of islands and very mountainous, battered by earthquakes and typhoons hence, agriculturally and industrially, more difficult to develop. Thailand is more fertile, flat, stable and peacefully developed into a powerful rice and fruit farming Country since centuries. People in Thailand also feel themselves profoundly and proudly Thai - one language, one Kingdom, very old traditions. Filipinos until 1900 did not even have a single language. All this led to very slow development pace, unemployment being still high, double digit in some areas if compared to less then 1% in Thailand which is actually importing labors from neighboring Countries. Manila has been for decades a collector of unemployed desperate people and is now filled by shanty towns (anyone ever heard about HappyLand in Tondo?) around a super wealthy CBDs (Makati and BGC). I also see Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia much faster in decision making especially on infrastructures - still somehow corrupt (Th and Vn) but with stronger decision making leaders in charge. PH have a great potential as the Country is super beautiful for tourism, language never a barrier and people are friendly, happy, smart and educated (great Universities there), will surely improve giving some time.
  16. EU is already witnessing massive invasion of non-passport holders / illegal immigrants from South and East - time to remove barriers for SEA tourists into Schengen
  17. Pretty wrong. Thailand with 15 (18) is in the middle ranking for number of holiday's in the world. Philippines (18),Cambodia (21) Indonesia (28) just to name some neighbors have more. Some of Thai holidays are also not considered by private companies, at least 2 as far as I remember are only for Govn't jobs. Furthermore compare to EU has pretty much half to 1/3 of paid leaves, I am struggling with only 10 days compared to the 28 +4 days I had in EU.
  18. Why ridiculous? There are about 15 for companies in Thailand, 12 in Italy but some falls mid week so one can get more days, while in Thailand many are on Mondays I also used to have almost triple the amount of paid-holydays (28 days vs 12 days). Paid days in Thailand starts as low as 6 annually in my company depending upon time in the company and job level.
  19. Not a big deal, I know several colleagues (Thai) which did pay millions in dowries for marrying well educated (University bachelor + Doc/Post Doc abroad) GFs.
  20. My first ever food poisoning, thanks to Fish and Chips in Blackpool. So bad I had to be admitted to the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester to rehydrate and I could not eat or even see fish & chips for several years 🙂
  21. What I knew, US tourist visas used to be for 10 years unless this recently changed - if so she got it already, Embassy did approve her possibility to go to the US hence there should be no issue. Unless I am missing something.
  22. any Nigerian coming into TH should be xrayed at their expenses
