I am not sure but maybe "barber/hairdresser" is not one of the selected Thai only professions. I know you cant make musical instruments...

So instead of bugging everyone with blue eyes on beach road to buy a suit ! They should open a real barber shop. Where they can cater for all mens styles and also get a proper shave.

I was attacked by an idiot with a buckled Bic disposable razor the first time I went for a shave in a Thai barber and he did not even wet my face or use soap !!! The experience put me off for ever. One divot on my chin and I was out of there leaving him with an earful of curses.

But in answer to your question ther are lots of Salons that cut mens hair down the Soi's near Tuk Com and I have seen women in them shaving mostly Indian or middle eastern men. So you might get lucky there.

Buying a condo is the worst thing you can do in Thailand, First of all the rent is so cheap here that if you pay 10k in rent for a condo it means120k in a year and most people on any pension or income can afford that. Secondly when you buy you can't just move when things gets really bad, the noisy neighbor next door makes life a living hell , the karaoke music across the soi is so bad you have to sleep during daytime or escape to a hotel etc . I speak of experience.

A couple of buddies that are lawyers in the US get all their suits and shirts at Michelle, the tailor immediately to the left of the TQ on Beach Road. They have been using them for years and have even taken suits back for tucking in and/or letting out depending on how good their dieting was going! I can't quote any prices but they have been enormously happy with consistent good product and service since maybe 2007.

LOL! What would you do if you're unavoidably out after midnight? Do you leave your bike somewhere and take a baht bus home? For example, what is the probability of an accident between 23:00 - 00:00 compared to 00:00 - 1:00.

I always ride at night and usually after midnight as it's my favourite time to go out shopping and I'm a night owl. Although there may be more drunk riders/drivers around at that time, due to lower traffic volume your chance of an accident is probably lower.

I think external factors (time of day etc) are overrated compared to riding and observational skills/alertness. Defensive riding skills (always anticipating the worst, riding at safe speeds, staying alert) will keep you alive and healthy for longer.

Most of the accidents do happen at night, according to the statistics. Drunks and stray dogs are a big factor too.

I have noticed an increasing trend in Pattaya for middle-aged farangi to wear bicycle helmets to get around the laws on wearing helmets when riding motorbikes. These are better than nothing but offer no protection for face plant type accidents.

And I've also seen more than a few farang copying the Issan style of motorcycle riding by going against the traffic in the wrong lane

It's worse than being copy cats. Too many farangs push way beyond that, not recognizing there's a limit to what the Thai riders will do. There are times on the street when I go "what the <deleted>" and, yep, it's a stupid farang pushing far beyond the limits of acceptance. Such as bolting from behind a stationary baht bus on the curbside right at an intersection when there's crossing traffic. Happened to me two nights ago at Buakhao and Diana. I had to do a front-wheel stander, fortunately at a crawl speed because I was being cautious. The Thais, by comparison, are not so hell-bent-for-death, and will pause to check traffic in this scenario.

So the worst street riders in Pattaya? 1. Teenage Thai boy speedsters, three on a bike, 2. Dumbass farangs. 3. Middle-age ladies with kids on the bike who won't ever look.

Not so true, some falang are bad but its a very small amount compared to the local dickheads

Just be very careful. my car is a pain to park sometimes so use the bike.
