  1. A violent mob goes after this lady & Thai apologists justify the action.

Farang woman almost kills dozens of innocent people and you try to justify her actions.

Explain why she fled the scene.

Only she can answer that, or maybe her toxicology report or driving documents (or possibly lack of) will.

If she'd got out straight away, apologised and waited for police then I doubt they'd have lynched her....using the excuse I was afraid so I drove away this breaking the law is very open to abuse.

I may have missed this but where does it say she caused the original accident, Before the rampage, I could be wrong ?

So why should she have got out and apologized ?

Are you just jumping to conclusions with no facts.

Waited for the cops for sure , fleeing an accident is so thai style, very bad.

  2. So am I reading the story correctly? American woman hits and runs then smashes up several other cars, almost killing several motorcycle drivers and is only stopped once the police shoot out her tyres???

Because the amount of posts blaming the Thais would suggest otherwise. There are some seriously anti Thai morons on this forum, ones who'd I'd like to personally frog march to Suvarnabhumi.

You still banging the everyone is a Thai basher / hater drum.

    Give it a rest man.

  3. I'm not defending the actions of this lady but I want to add an American perspective to this.

There you generally would not flee the scene of an accident but you would have full confidence that you wouldn't be subject to the whims of an angry mob and that if there was legal trouble you would have the benefit of a reasonably fair justice system.

A non-Thai in Thailand ... do the math.

Yes I know the same applies to other more organized countries ... but this lady is American.

Also, do Americans in particular often have an irrational self perception of being "special" while abroad ... yes, I think so, we are brainwashed that way and it's not always easy to shake brainwashing, the same with American tipping behavior.

Of course nobody is making us live in Thailand and perhaps more of us really shouldn't even be here.

    Good post thumbsup.gif

  4. The thing about TV that really amazes me is that.... this news is about an AMERICAN girl, a farang, who flouted traffic rules, caused property and physical damage to Thais IN Thailand.... and yet the thread is STILL able to degenerate into a Thai bashing thread with comments totally having nothing to do with the accident per se.... about fights and murders, gangs and mobs and negative behaviours of other Thais, etc, etc. (Just like any other thread, amazingly).

These comments were posted after it was clear that this nutter was RUNNING AWAY FROM THE POLICE after a series of crimes committed!

Those people who post on TV are really something else!

If Thailand is really that bad (that a lady who committed an accident shouldn't even stop for the police to arrive, nor allow the police to do their job when they actually arrive).... you should know what to do.

She shouldn't even have been allowed bail! That nutter.

Don’t see what s so bad about bail.

She has been treated the same as any thai would have been.

Maybe a bit lucky she never got shot dead.

  5. I think this is an issue all over town, supermarkets, shops, taxis, elevators in hotels, food outlets, some people have no care about personal hygiene.

    disgusting.

if I see people with the wife beater T shirt on I stay well away from them.

    stinking the place up.

    bah.gif

Wow, that is a breakthrough. Here I thought it was lack of washing and deodorant.

I am so happy to have found out it was wearing a tank-top which causes the odor.

Did I see you with this on when I was doing my 90 day report the other day.

I doubt it, I neither wear tank-tops nor live in Pattaya. You seem to never tire of being wrong.

Think that’s called a sense of humor failure.

It can happen when people get to old and grumpy.

The thread is a bit tongue in cheek, mate. thumbsup.gif

  7. I am writing this before I have seen any comments from other posters, I am not convinced you are telling the truth.

Using any kind of drug in this country, you deserve to get caught and punished. I have no sympathy for anyone who is

involved with any kind of drugs, especially here in Thailand.

If I'm being honest with you, I suspect you are trolling, everyone without connections who is caught and tested positive is

not going to avoid a very long prison sentence here, and rightly so.

I suppose I could be wrong, but that is the way I see it.

Yeah, you are wrong. Not only your last sentence, but all of the drivel you wrote.

What I wrote is my opinion, and if you are under the influence of drugs in public, then I hope you go to prison for a very long time.

    Over a bit of pot.

your way way out of date man

And a bit nuts to say that.

If it was your son or daughter would you still say the same as he/she is sent down for a very long time over a bit of pot ?

  8. Were all tired of cold toast...and over

    cooked eggs......and tang........and hot dogs.

Pastramionrye.......needs to stop selling a crap breakfast....and start when they get that mojo into a meal they aint thinkin much about....cause ther tired....Il be ther next week.....

I think a lot of posters on this thread have never even eaten at Pastrami on Rye or have some serious issue with "quality competition." I have never seen "overcooked eggs, tang or hot dogs at Pastrami on Rye. Unlike some posters, I have actually eaten there. It is, IMHO, a place that is serving good quality breakfast items that are "American." My meal was good and the price was not expensive and the atmosphere was nice along with the waittresses. They have American-style pancakes and French toast (have not eaten it yet, but it looks good to me w/ fresh bananas on top), American-style bacon, bisquits (very large bisquit) and gravy w/ sausage in it, sausage similar to Jimmy Dean sausage (not the British link sausage, which I dislike), a bisquit and egg and cheese sandwich (w/ choice of sausage or ham or bacon on it), several types of omelettes, a Mexican breakfast burrito, ham and eggs, among other items. If you want more European food, fine, go get it at the Continental (which also serves some hard to find items like rosti (what Americans call has brown potatoes..not frozen but homemade) or Danmark (Danmark also has Thai food on their buffet breakfast) or Simple Simons. If you want an American-style breakfast, try Pastrami on Rye or The Moonshine Bar (which also serves some hard to find items like bisquits and gravy, SOS and even grits) or Rich Man Poor Man(which also serves some hard to find items like eggs benedict). The good news is that we have several options for breakfast, no matter where you are from.

    Grits

That's one thing I don't miss about the USA.

    Nasty stuff.

  9. French speaking, over 50 = the usual "smell bad", "lack personal hygiene" suspects.

IMHO the usual unimaginative French and senior bashing troll post.

No, British were also specifically mentioned.

i have no experience with French or German seniors but i experienced it with British, younger people. ..That didn't bath for weeks or months, in winter. Perhaps something to do with living conditions historically, no hot water.

It is the culture of washing the face only in the mornings and maybe at night. i thought it had changed, "modern times," but apparently not.

oh, yes, and the tube in London in summer! ugh! Disgusting!

Indians are probably the world leaders in body smells (and disregarding the comfort of others in that respect). A Thai friend of mine who worked in a hotel in Pattaya told me that the management reserved specific floors for them to avoid annoying guests of other nationalities with unpleasant odors. Thankfully not many Indian nationals come to the immigration office here yet. As for the French I suspect it might be a cultural thing. I even heard the expression 'French bath' which I think means just a washbasin without a shower or bathtub in the bathroom. That perhaps suggests that French do no regard showering as particularly necessary.

    LOL , French bath,

    Love it clap2.gif

  10. Don’t understand all this don’t buy just rent the sky will fall in on you

nonsense, when you buy, do a bit of home work first. there is never any guarantee

of all will be fine, but does life come with a guarantee, no

But one thing you all forget and its just a selfish thing for most

If you buy a place there is an asset you can leave to you wife, girlfriend, boy friend

Or son or daughter. after your dead, an empty bank account is no good to anyone.

Money flushed down toilet is rent every year. wai2.gif

  11. If you live here why go out for breakfast, what a nonsense.

Do it yourself or get wife girlfriend and for some boyfriend to do it.

Most of the stuff round town is crap or hit and miss or silly expensive. why bother.

You got all of the day to go. and you want to eat out in the morning !!!!!!

But can an totally understand breakfast at 14.00 out and about . good job night before. thumbsup.gif

    Yes and no.

Nobody is going to do a spread like Pascals at home.

Then there are specialty items like home fries, biscuits, eggs benedict, etc., not normally done by most at home.

I agree if its just fried and eggs and toast, no point in going out for that.

    Yes agree

    Something a bit special.

    once a month why not.

but for me sitting in some restaurant at 8- 11 in the morning every day.

    not for me. wai2.gif
