  1. Think you should get about 37 per liter ( pulled from internet)

so lets call it 15 baht., still cheap on the bike.

No they should not loss it some times. bah.gif

15 baht OK I'll go along with that. Add wear and tear, tax, insurance, tyres, etc it still wouldn't reach 20.

Never said they should said no wonder they do. They shouldn't of course but everybody has a limit and some of those tourist can be very difficult to deal with. It's not like the drivers have to go through special training and pass an exam to be one.

Are you sure anyone can jump in a baht bus and call them self a

a baht bus driver ? think it could be a PSV, does this not require some

testing of personnel first ? I could be wrong ?

Honda wave 125, that's a very expensive bit of kit to buy and run giggle.gif

way more convent then a Baht bus trip a few times a day.

when was the last time you got a baht bus from pattaya to go to the far end of jomtien beach road at 3 am for 10 baht ?

  2. I had a check sent from California, Registered mail, Airmail. Postmarked 26 February, arrived 9 March. I regularly have boxes of herbs sent, USPS Priority Mail. Takes anywhere from 10 to 25 days to get to Samui. I would never consider having anything sent to me without a tracking number. As soon as the letter/box is shipped, I receive the tracking number from the shipper. I go to the USPS website and request email tracking info. It works great. After I get the email that says the package has cleared customs, I wait about 5 days. If the item is not delivered, or if I do not receive a notice from the local PO, I print out the last email, drive to the PO, smile and politely ask if they can help me locate my package. In two years of living on the island, I have never lost anything, using this procedure. Good luck to you! coffee1.gifwai2.gif

If shipping cost is not important, import duty, also the letter / parcel is valuable, I agree with you.

but for items of very small value, just use regular post,

Using Fedx, Ups and all those type of services, will invite unwanted expensive import duty, most of the time.

  3. You can sharpen your disposable razor by running it forward up your jeans,

Think your find it does not sharpen the blades any more.

But removes old soap / skin / hair.

    But makes it feel sharper

It will kill the lube strip if you do this, don't think the lube strip does much anyway wai2.gif

  4. Just had a very small package arrive yesterday from Hong Kong.

was ordered in mid December !!!!!!!.

so a bit late, but ok it did get here. smile.png

Could have been vendor messing me about , who knows.

using regular post only for this shipment.

  5. eh English is my 2nd Language...Broad N.E. Scots first (but not Doric). Putting 800K Poonds into a Thai bank is a risk. Firstly the country is run by a Army Junta that has siezed power from the people. How many foreigners know that TMB means Thai Military Bank? Kasikorn is the Farmers Bank (is that Red Shirt depositers only?) Ayudaya or Krungsri is mostly owned by General Electric... Siam Commercial was started by the brother of King Rama V so is it the royalist bank? Bangkok Bank is the biggest with the biggest network outside of Thailand.

So which is the safest one to put your 800K in?

Next question.....Is that 800k only when you first take up a retirement Visa? and you can let it dwindle as you get older and stay here.

3rd Question. Or does it have to be still 800K every time you report to your 90 day probation Immigration officer? I have never understood this rule. I hear stories of groups of people who move a "shared" pot of 800K to one anothers accounts each time they have to report.

Going back on topic. Both "chickenslegs" and "i claudius" hit the nail on the head. Foreigners in Thailand are just that. Foreigners.

Also, if you are married in the UK you have a piece of paper called a Marriage license that is registered. Thailand has people who live together after tying themselves in knots of string and pouring water about....what proof is there in that as being "married". Very Romantic...not.

Is it just me? but I dispare every time I see some elderly farrang with thin rotting parcel string on his wrist.....lost the plot springs to mind.

Maybe you can just show the ball of string at immigration next time?

As for proof of having kids, rent a coach load of orphans from Father Rays and flood Soi 5 with them and tell the officer you have adopted them for the afternoon.

It is far easier for Brits to live in Malaysia..... smile.png)))

All very funny, like the ball of string at immigration.!!!!! thumbsup.gif

But Malaysia, no can do, Zero fun , will be total Burka-Ville in 5 years time . w00t.gif

  6. I shave myself. But, nothing beats a good professional shave from a real Barber,,,,,especially when you are planning on "pulling a bird"on a night out ....not all women like Jungle Jim, scratching the inside of their thighs....know what I mean ?

Totally understand the close shave . thumbsup.gif

Myself I still go for the DIY.

Always be prepared keep a DIY kit handy as you never know when you will next come across Jungle Jane. giggle.gif

  7. Don't know if this would help, but the guy a few doors down from us had a problem with pigeons, bought a plastic statue of an owl about to take flight, and mounted it on the balcony railing - no more pigeons.

Someone also mentioned here a while back that a rubber snake from the toy section in Big C, Tesco, etc, will also do the trick....

    They will come back soon

This works only for a short time.

Even bird brains only get fooled for so long.

you can move it around once a week, might work !!!

but think they will still come back at some point.

  8. Jaochoo, thanks for the heads up. Does anyone know if this a one off at Jomtien, or has this happened to other people as well?

I think I agree with Tony M, as I just 'wandered' over to the Visa forum and there is nothing about this quite important bureaucratic change in that forum.

To be honest, if I have to do this then it will be the final straw for me - I will do the extension based on retirement instead - much less hassle - but does tie up 800K Baht.

Incorrect the money is not tied up,

apart from maybe 3 months for first time extension.

you use some or all of it to live on, wai2.gif
