  1. They started complaining about how bad the tourism was too loud, drunks everywhere and too many ruined the atmosphere. Well they got what they wanted plus a bit for all the hype about it in the news. Unfortunately this is going to happen in more places in Thailand. They want the numbers, but getting them the wrong way. There’s been more fighting, robbery, group attacks, smear campaigns on different tourists, bus accidents, boat accidents, threats of taxes, scams, etc. etc. Thailand was a very relaxed, cheap, friendly and welcoming country and unfortunately they keep shooting themselves in the foot so much now that people are deciding to go to other places that are more welcoming to tourists and retirees. It really used to be the Land of Smiles. You can still find a few places here that seem to genuinely enjoy foreign tourists and not just their wallets, but Thailand has done this to themselves and only they can fix it.
  2. There are many reasons why people forget to do it online, even if they do get a reminder, which I rarely ever do. It’s called unforeseen circumstances. A friend passes away suddenly or your partner. You get very sick, had an accident, etc. etc. etc. Maybe it hasn’t happened to you yet, but I guarantee it could happen at any time. Obviously he had a question about it being late and what to do, so it doesn’t sound like he has missed it before. Thanks for the good advice given in case I end up in this situation. Learnt something new today.
  3. I feel bad for the 3 that said they only made 12,000 baht a month.
  4. Well they must know the laws somewhat well and knew that if they admitted to the murder they would get a big reduction in jail time. It’s a stupid law here, but what can we do about it? They should not get a lighter sentence for murder.
  5. I’m surprised they didn’t suspect brake failure first, or is that a reserved option for Thai drivers only 😬
  6. I’ve had several different dishes that I buy at the market because they look so good. Rarely do I ever get the name and just keep looking for it again the next time I go to the market and sometimes I get lucky and they have it. Other times it’s something that looks like what I got and is completely different. Most of the time it’s still great, but wish they had names in front of them. Even in Thai would be fine cause I could translate it and be able to show someone the next time. I guess it keeps me from eating the dishes every time, but when I really get that taste in my mouth I just wish I could find it.
  7. I hope the first judge who gave him 9 months for attempted murder is reminded daily of this death. If he’s still a judge I’d definitely want to see how many innocent people he has let down with this wacky light approach system. If he would have sentenced him properly(more than 3 years) for attempted murder, he would be in a jailhouse and this would not have happened.
  8. Wow. All kinds of freak death’s going on. Be brave I’m sure it’s going to be a wet, wild and deadly week to usher in the New Thai Year!
  9. I was on an IVIG drip to battle a severe case of GBS and it didn’t agree with my body. I crashed hard and flat lined. I felt as if I was just floating above my body looking down at myself getting padded back to life. It seemed bright in the room, but I didn’t get that big bright light or any pictures of my life passing by. Feel kinda screwed on that one, but when I was finally stable the doctors told me that I coded and……., but I already knew that. I Felt a bit off, but I guess much better than it could have gone. Wish I would have had the full experience.
  10. It’s called maintenance, and as we all should know by now, that’s not part of their vocabulary. That’s why they do so many renovations. They definitely need a citywide maintenance program that should be funded just to do that. Maintenance.
  11. Pattaya was once a small seaside town. That was so long ago. Looking back at photos from the late 60’s to the mid 80’s, you’d never believe that this is Pattaya now. It really once was a beautiful place. Sadly we can’t turn back time.
  12. I guess the police will have a couple new toys to play with, or 2 new staff members 🤣😂
  13. From what I see on the roads this is not reckless driving. Sure he stood up to stretch his legs but was far from what most here would consider reckless driving. Had his helmet on, wasn’t drunk or on drugs. Just a little light between the ears. I guess it was mainly for covering up his registration plate. Probably a 500 baht fine at max.
  14. Always an excuse here for anything that’s gone wrong. Never maintenance though.
  15. Great news. If you believe that any young or middle aged Chinese or Russian can afford to legally take 60-90+ days off a year and not find a way to make money here, or steal food from restaurants you’re not thinking clearly. Of course some have money, but I wouldn’t put that number up to high. And we all know that the Indians share everything, from a coke to a girl. Sad but true.
  16. You are your own worst enemy. If you really think that moving will do it then give it a go, but sounds like you have some other issues that need to be addressed as well. The grass is always greener for the first couple of weeks or months. Then you’ll be in your head again. Figure out what the issue(s) is and try to take care of that first. Otherwise you’ll end up right where you started.
  17. As if the Thais traveling overseas they don’t use the cheapest form of transportation and I’m sure they are noisy to the locals. Get off your high horses.
  18. They waste too much money on face. Look at my new car, house, designer bags, the music festival I just went to, etc. then they claim they have no money to pay for food and regular bills. Obviously there are many that can’t even afford that, but there are plenty of people making a decent salary that have no idea how to budget. Schools have to stop the no fail system and the teachers need a better salary and education themselves in order to teach. Good luck
  19. If they had decent multi language tour guides who spoke and understand the questions then there wouldn’t be a need for these foreign tour guides. It’s one thing to have it on your paperwork or CV, but quite different from actually speaking and understanding it. I know well to Many Thais that graduate in English and still can’t hold a conversation in English. Pass and no fail no will be their own downfall.
  20. Soon to be taken by any relatives,,even long lost ones and the village family and temples. It’ll be gone before they realize it unless they are tough as nails and have a good head on their shoulders.
  21. Apparently the police didn’t want to get into a medical emergency. Too much paperwork. Wait for the family to come and notice. 90 % of this force needs to be replaced with real policemen willing to do their jobs, but Thailand won’t pay for that.
  22. Thailand just doesn’t want the hassle of dealing with drug offenders, mules or traffickers at the airport. They’d rather just notify the next destination to be on the lookout out for………. Way too many instances popping up these days. Must be going for the most lax airport to carry through drugs. But don’t be fooled, they are calling ahead of your next destination. Heaven forbid they actually do any work.
  23. Pattaya would have to do a Major overhaul in order to make it a friendly destination for tourists. Most you come are on a low budget and want the raunchiness around them Som na na
  24. I agree with much of what he said, although a little too late. Also the foreigners setting up shop are mostly hiring Thais and are paying tax and ss for them which you can’t say for most Thai run businesses. So start taxing your workers, businesses and mom and pops roadside shops and see what happens. Either your revenue will go up or places will shut down. The amount of Thais paying taxes is laughable to the foreigners who must pay. The days of having your cake and eating it to are long gone.
