  1. Ok, that is confusing.

It is a multipe entry visa, or it is a two entry visa which is not a multiple entry?

I dont mind being wrong, but, does this mean, a mutliple entry visa has no limit, or is just more than 2?

I understand it is not a Non Immigrant O, which, is more than 2 entires? Or exit and entry, not required as often,

    still confused

Multiple entry means there is no limit to the number of entries for one year. Non immigrant visas are issued as single or multiple entries.

Tourist visas are issued by the number of entries you request and pay for with 3 being the maximum.

    I received 4 - 30 day tourist Visa's, all 4 at BKK Swannapum airport

and 1 - double entry tourist visa, which was due to be stamped at immigration on the 22nd, but I left instead, and may or not make it back before my 2nd entry expires on April 22nd, so

does that mean, I am already over the limit on tourist Visa's and could possibly be denied entry if someone actually counts them?

and, if I get thru BKK airport, which I imagine i would as they would probably only look at the Kingdom's already approved 2nd entry,

but, would that be my limit?

and, by maximum, is that lifetime, yearly?

consider me, no longer confused, but, now,

    very concerned!

  2. Yes, every Thai-speaking farang I know has no problem with the word, use it all the time, answer to it when called, realize it CAN be used as an insult, just as the word "Thai" or "Asian" can be, but in fact rarely is.

    slope or gook Vs farang.

Thai or Asian Vs English or European.

One line is insulting, the other line is acceptable by everyone.

    Wrong. Farang = Caucasian.

If you and other misinformed farangs try to change the meaning to something offensive like slope or gook, that's really your problem and not the Thais.

Farang (Thai: ฝรั่ง [faràŋ]) is a generic Thaiword for someone of European ancestry, no matter where they may come from. Edmund Roberts, US envoy in 1833, defined the term as "Frank (or European)."[1] People of African ancestry may be called Thai: ฝรั่งดำ farang dam('black farang') to distinguish them from white people. This began during the Vietnam War, when the United States military maintained bases in Thailand.

it is generally believed that the word farang originated with the Persianword farang (فرنگ) or farangī (فرنگی), meaning "Frank, European". This in turn comes from the Old French word franc, meaning "Frank", a West Germanic tribe that became the biggest political power inWestern Europe during the early Middle Ages, and from which Francederives its name. Because the Frankish Empire ruled Western Europe for centuries, the word "Frank" became deeply associated with Latins who professed the Roman Catholic faith by Eastern Europeans andMiddle Easterners.

According to Rashid al-din Fazl Allâh, farang comes from the Arabicword afranj.[2] in Ethiopia faranji means white/European people In either case the original word was pronounced paranki (പറങ്കി) inMalayalam, parangiar in Tamil, and entered Khmer as barang andMalay as ferenggi.

    Other uses[edit]

Farang is also the Thai word for the guava fruit

  3. Scarpolo (post 231) claimed "I cannot change the world" but you can ... and you did.

In one of your early posts, you seemed surprised that you were still well received although being an American (suggesting an knowledge of the havoc caused by other less than worldly immature Americans abroad) ...

and you did 'change the world' of the Thai lady you met and her immediate friends, but in an atypical USA manner; but to your post on your perceptions of Thailand

    1) cesspool ... have you traveled the breadth of the USA and seen the cesspool that the USA is, the 'richest' nation on earth with the highest homeless, disadvantaged and marginalized population ... visited New Orleans and seen the disorganized state of affairs there; aware of the various States, cities and counties that are bankrupt; the collapsing infrastructure; bitumen roads ripped up because its cheaper for gravel / dirt road upkeep ... I could go on ...

    2) open air whire house ... whore house aptly describes a crack-house area in every city in the USA, with prostitutes at every corner

    3) the "knock-off" seconds and stolen goods retail outlet of the wolrd ... I had to laugh, you Americans are the Masters of Thievery, stealing designs, patenting ideas of others, pilfering other countries energy assets, USA (Undeniably Stolen Assets)

Like others, I thought you a genuine guy, but really, you're a nasty bit of work with a heart filled with payback for people who have f'ked you over and you haven't go the balls to get them, so you punish others ... no doubt. leading them on (as is the American way) ... you are one sad MF

You have provided some photos from a distance ... I have provided them close up ...

Those who thought they got away with their crimes, have yet to see what's coming.

I just got a little "distracted" by what I found me Thailand, was all, which delayed the day of reckoning, and allowed me, needed rest

I do not beleve your picture of the girls on the street in SF, as that is clearly an ad with models.

I know SF well, the picture is not real.

And while America is drowning in nearly every way,

more parts of it than not; aren't

  4. OK, here's my take on this, based on my experience.

If a woman comes from a poor family and is not well educated, but DOES speak any reasonable level of English, you can be pretty sure she learned it directly from farang in a social setting, and has quite possibly been a sex worker or at least mia farang of some sort.

If a woman comes from a not-poor family and is reasonably well educated, then the odds are better she learned her English in school.

There is IMO very tiny percentages of cross-overs between the two categories of those with English proficiency, and of course always some exceptions that prove the rule.

If I can add with my limited 6 month experience,

The English that is spoken by the girls who learned it from their foreign "friends" and business "aquaintances"

is not conversational english and there is barely a sentence they can string together.

I did meet a few girls in hotels who spoke very little english, very little, clearly from poor familes,

that they too learned either on the job, or with instruction from a supervisor, that were clearly not sex workers,

at the time I encountered them, but, there is of course, no way to know that.

the managers of the hotels and condos I stayed at, that spoke conversational english, clearly learned it, in school, whether they were male or female, they needed it to be in the major hotels, if they wanted to be in management

  5. Admittedly,

I met very few girls in Thailand other than the service personnel at the hotels, and restaurants, and they were generally too young, or not pretty enough for me to become interested in them,

I did find a pretty one that I latched on to, and from there, my experience gets quite shallow.

I wasn't in the circles of meeting any of the more educated one's. so I won't be able to comment on them and if I did, they were usually with their husbands, or boyfriends, none of which were thai

  6. Women are the same all over the world. They all want the same things in life. The difference in Thailand is a mixture of cultural/social things as well as the fact that there is more poverty so you have to be careful to weed out any bad ones.

Did you mean to pair poverty and any "bad one's?"

Am not sure they should be grouped, unless it is to refer to their families leeching off them?

  7. OP,

I am sure it is a matter of simple word smithing, but did you mean perhaps that the Thai women are more "complicated" than western girls,

rather than refering to them as a "piece of work?"

I ask, not, to be offensive, but to perhaps clarify what you really mean?

I was given a fairly good description of what to expect from thai women,

family ties (shackles), financial obligations to their mothers, possible moonlighters, and of course, the various cons.

I made it wasier on myself, by keeping it simple.

Is it also, perhaps, that, they all (maybe) want a man to marry and support them so they can raise families, and are old school in that regard, ie., America of the 30's and 40's?

I opine that because that is one of my impressions of thai girls, that they need a man to carry the weight,

and we, of the west, are no longer willing to pay the freight?

we've been there done that, and the age category we are attracted too, or attracting, hasn't yet,

so, it is more of a disparity in where we (they) you, are on the life timeline?

  8. Scarpolio ....WHY are you still posting? You have nothing to say about Thailand and what you did was limited to your OP.....after that your post became a self -serving promotion scheme ....of all your different positions in life (Cab driver, Investment adviser, Artist, Hells Angel, and Musician!!!!!).Your still a loser and a Con man

...Your in the states now (San Francisco from your posts ....thought you were from Long Island living in Florida now)...and now we are being entertained by your daily travel diary ...or should I say diarrhea

Glad to hear your out of Thailand....your fantasy will serve you well in America.....Keep the Con up...you talk a good game...

    Beachfront,

in addition to your personal issues and your inability not to speak unless spoken too,

let me guess, you went to Harvard, majored in being a thief or lawyer, and now you are a major property developer in Thailand, AND, the ultimate decider of who should post on Thailand, TV, and what they say?

have any of your females come home a little late, lately, and that perhaps is your problem?

yes, to all the above jobs and careers and hobbies,

so sorry your life was one of extreme boringness that you feel you must put down others in order to somehow justify your pathetic existence,

but find a new poster to perster, pissant:

    are you serious?

Is that a man who answers to the word falange when called, or some sort of small furry animal that will rub against the bottom of your leg, when called?

Depends on the context doesn't it?

Out and about in public, or with those I'm most intimate with, no problem.

And for myself, those are the only situations where it's used to address me in person and I know enough to understand it's not meant disrespectfully. Not that I think I'm all that "deserving of respect" just because I'm white.

And if the small furry animal's calling me to the session room, I'll happily answer to "fattie" or "grandpa" or whatever else she'd like to call me!

    your quote,

"And if the small furry animal's calling me to the session room, I'll happily answer to "fattie" or "grandpa" or whatever else she'd like to call me!"

Best quote on TV, by far!

  10. So Now the OP is going to tell us again , Thailand is a

    "1) cesspool

    2) open air whire house

    3) the "knock-off" seconds and stolen goods retail outlet of the wolrd

And a day in SF has already been better than 10 days in Thailand."

    End of quote

    Why?

Why would he think anyone on a Thai centric forum wants to hear about San Francisco. A good haircut in San Francisco is 8000 baht. The last time I paid 8000 baht for a haircut here I got the cut and 3 stylists thrown in for the night including the hotel room, Pole and mirrored stage, all I could drink and a doctor standing by with oxygen, meds and a 3 piece band.

I stay on top of Nob Hill,

in 3 minutes I am in Chinatown, where a haircut is $300 baht with the tip,

in BKK it was 100 baht w the tip

Speaking of Nob's. 8000 baht is $257 dollars. But why would you think anyone cares? Some of us stayed at the Fairmont when it really was something.

Why are you still on TV bashing Thailand? What do you get out of it? You ran out of cash and went home. OK it happens. Sow Wow.

That wasnt me that posted for the $250 haircut.

And, the Fairmont has been remodeled on the inside,

you might find it "improved" since your day,

although, the doorman is still probably the same as are the bellmen

  11. I've been in Thailand a long time and I have long figured out that most Thai girls prefer a Thai guy about their age. I accept that.

Prefer wealthy Thai guy about their age.

But there are plenty of Thai women who, by circumstance, are looking for foreigners. For example, single mothers. Just the other day, I advised a close friend that a single mother may be the best way to go. She'll be ready to settle and won't be "hard work," as the OP says.

Thai girls that Thai guys don't want (too much baggage, too old, low social status, etc.).

But if you want to compete with a Thai guy for a grade A hottie, a Thai guy who's got the culture and language advantage down pat, you've got no chance. Sorry, but that's reality.

Unless you (foreigner) have a lot more money than him (Thai).

    This is a FACT

I witnessed a relationship breakup here of a guy who is part of the inner circle of friends of the girl I was with, just lose her because a new guy stepped in a bought her a house,

He is thai, they are both 30,

the guy she was with is a broke thai who is drinking himself to death now, as she posts pictures on her facebook of all the restaurants and clubs he takes her too, while the other one thought being a great lover and professing is undying love for her, would stop her from leaving him

    for the money

  12. It isn't that the foreigners are stupid, or leave their brains in the locker at the airport,

The girls here are highly competitive in a market that doesn't exist for us, in the "West"

So, we get here and find a larger pool than we have ever seen,

And they see us as new fish in what is for them, is a tiny pool

    All perception,

but, for future souls who venture to SE Asia, simply play this song for them, it sums it all up,

I went nearly the 6 month limit,

I don't know that there will be a rerun as there is much to catch up on here,

That the pool of early 30's females is no longer within reach, is lamentable, but not nearly as regretable, had I stayed longer and joined the pool of men who suddenly, no longer had their wallets or their "girl-friends"

  13. So Now the OP is going to tell us again , Thailand is a

  15. Swissotel 660 Baht full dinner, lamb, beef, fish, and of course plenty of pork, thai and indian choices,, great desserts

    Breakfast, excellent 330 baht

Yes i have been there once and won't go back, was very disappointed. If i recall correctly it was a only japanese buffet. Maybe you mean another buffet in that hotel? It was on that main road where all the "massage"-clubs are.

The Japanese is on the right,

The Main cafeteria buffet, is further to the left, and a step or two down

You have to walk past the bar,

    the room is enormous

It also has sushi, and two chefs on either end of the buffet, for different foods

  16. Swissotel 660 Baht full dinner, lamb, beef, fish, and of course plenty of pork, thai and indian choices,, great desserts

    Breakfast, excellent 330 baht

Are you talking about the Nai Lert Park branch, or the Le Concorde branch of Swissotel???

    Le Concorde, sorry,

I forgot there was two, and only know the LeC

  17. After getting Married you can get a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa from Savanakhet Laos.

You would probably only get a single entry in Vientienne.

That is interesting, what does that cost, and why there and not Vientiane ?

Because that is Vientiane's policy. They don't do multiple entry visas of any kind.

    THat is DEAD WRONG advice

I received a double entry visa in ventianne in Jan.

    It was easy,

Go an hour and half after opening, on both days, I experienced no waiting the second day when a local told me to go an hour later,

the wait in the morning was neglible

  18. at 6 months still wearing the rose tinted glasses and beer goggles ,it takes quite a while longer to see whats really beneath the surface

Rose colored glasses and beer fogged eyes are not a part of my eperience, but I understand that its a big draw in thailand, the drugs alcohol and whoring.

My earlier posts of my perceptions of thailand were

    1) cesspool

    2) open air whire house

    3) the "knock-off" seconds and stolen goods retail outlet of the wolrd

and many other non complimentary statements like that

After moving to the suburbs, my experience improved, but didnt change my overall summary above.

I did find many things to like about thaiandm, ex. It cost me $10.00 from the airport bkk to the plaxces I stayed at

the same distance, and perhaps shorter, just cost me $50 in San Francisco

and the food is mostly cheaper in Thailand,

other than that, I dont have enough reason to return

    1) day in SF has already been better than 10 days in Thailand

  19. Seattle (SEA) a few years back.

Profiled as usual for bag check by Customs (single guy coming on EVA flight from BKK-TPE with only cabin bag).

Inspecting Customs female officer asked purpose of visit.

Just vacation, camping and hiking in the Cascades.

Wow ! that's nice ! I love to do that myself.

Took opportunity of this friendly contact to ask her what was so wrong with me that I was always selected for bag check at PDX and SEA.

That's really bad, Sorry, Just open your bag and I'll make like I'm checking it because 'they' are observing us from the mezzanine...

But then there were all the 'other' unpleasant times like, after bag check, I was taken to a small stuffy room where two guys who had appeared from nowhere during bag check frisked me (missed my zipper pouch belt LOL) and had me lean over while watching my behind to see if any suppository drug capsule would pop out.

Almost missed my connecting flight that time. Ba****ds !

I guess I will have to experience all this to believe it, but I have never been hassled upon returning to the US

I will report my experience next week thru SFO, from BKK via Hong Kong

At 54, I expect zero trouble, but wil report it either way it goes

Seattle has always been among the worse for hassling travelers, with Minneapolis a close second IMO. This is one of the reasons I signed up for Global Entry to avoid all this. Another plus of. Global Entry, you are directed to the line where you don't have to take off your shoes or take your laptop out of your carryon

Others have posted that Global Entry provided them no extra courtesy.

Considering, I was a white male in his 50's traveling alone, from Thailand, with my camera in my shoulder bag and my laptop in my carry on,

and with stamps from Laos and Indonesia that I didnt put on my entry form,

and with all the posts about being singled out,

none of that happened to me,

I was wearing a black motorcycle jacket and had a guitar strapped to my back also

  20. As expected.

    SFO was a breeze,

Officer friendly. A young kid about 30,

Had 3 entries to Thailand, 3 to Laos, and 1 to Bali, so when he asked me if I was only in Thailand, I said yes, only Thailand, but as he was stamping me in, I changed my story, and told him yes, I also went to Lao for Visa's a few times,

He asked me if it was easy to get the Visa's and I said yes, and that was that

  21. Wanting a person to wash the spoon in between the first and second cup, is clearly to me, over the top control issues

As is the usage of the bin, instead of the toilet for paper,

Yes, I find that control freak insanity, and, that is what the toilets are for, so yes....

    And, <deleted>, you mean, by,

"I am up for a gentle scolding?"

sounds to me like you are the slave

You apply an adversarial view to your dealings with women and this is very likely at the root of your lack of success with them.

    You're a rebel without a cause.

You're seeing control and manipulation when she's just wanting to keep her place clean and in the manner that she thinks is best.

You're a guest - albeit a paying one - so shouldn't you try to respect her desire to do things her way in her own freakin' home rather than sitting there suggesting she's trying to control you?

Lose the chip on your shoulder and bloody well grow up, for cryin' out loud.

    Adversarial?

Today, I was chartered to drive a hole in her concrete wall to hang a picture.

I have handled a drill my entire life,

She, never, only watched other Thai repair and installation people.

    With me so far?

She selects the drill bit. I see, it is the only bit ever used in the set. makes sense. (If you are thai)

I compare with the screw and plastic sheath, and it sizes up. No problem, the last guy who hung the clock used the same sizes.

So, I install the smallest bit in the drill, because I want to start the hole.

She insists I use the larger bit. Mind you now, she has never touched the drill in her life,

I instead, go about doing it the way I know is right, use a small bit to start the hole, so the larger bit, doesnt careen all over the wall,

    So far, so good?

I get the hole started, and mention, this is similar to getting a woman started (goes over her head)

Continuing with the next size, to ensure the larger size will fit.

She comes over, insists I use the larger size.

I attempt to do that, see the larger bit wobbling, as it is too long for the drill, and understand anymore pressure and it may snap, and I lose an eye,

So, I go down two sizes to complete the hole,

Does she understand any of this? no, but at the end, wanted me to agree with the use of the larger bit first, notwithstanding my safety concern.

Yes, this is a control freak,

I am well aware of it,

    And I enjoy her anyway

    OTT for sure.

Suggestion.. why dont you just say "do you want to drill the hole yourself, or do you want me to drill it?"

Her reply, im guessing, would be "you".

Then reply in a cheeky but sweet way "ok sweetie, can you leave me to it then".

I dunno..maybe i have it wrong. I wouldnt want someone standing over me telling me how to do something either..but i also wouldnt allow them to stand over and watch my every move either whilst my blood boils.

Id simply make light by saying something like, Oy! let me get on with it and go make me a cuppa! (Of course in an amicable joking way!).

If i was watched over, id simply put down the drill (or whatever else) and say if im going to be told how to do a job, i may as well leave you to do it yourself.

    Simple.

    On the contrary,

    It is her home,

    her wall,

I want to make sure I do it right` and go home with two eye's in my head, and not a drill bit in my forehead.

just an example of a woman in need of complete control.

    she is a Leo,

    they are all that way,

the issue is, how is it handled,

remember, she is 32, not used to having a man in her home,

I am happy to entertain her, and it doesn't make anything boil, as, to me, she is cute

  22. This topic is hilarious and entertaining.

OP title reads something like ''dating a young Thai girl and why I love Thailand for this''

Well. Yes. I only date Thai ladies younger than me, the older ones does not gives me advantageous wits over the young Thai girls, physically as well as mentally.

Physically, this is a no brainer, I am a man, and a man by nature likes young looking women. Mentally, older Thai ladies does not equals to being more mature, still as childlish. Maybe the ones 45+ are mature.

Sure I love Thailand in the sense that there are so many young beautiful available women around. I am having a hard time organising my dating schedule.

    Amen to the childish,

but can we amend to "girlish?"
