An all economy cabin can go up to 359. A two class cabin would be 248. A two class cabin probably would be a small number of seats in business and the rest would be economy. The Air India survivor was seated in 11A (probably Business). If this flight had 242 than it was almost full. Also, this aircraft took off fomr an intersection and did not use the full length of the runway. Lastly India in June is hot and this was a day time takeoff so aircraft performance would be less than optimal.

Number of passengers on board is dependent on how much fuel and much is in the cargo hold. More passengers and more in the carge hold then less fuel. More fuel then less in the cabin and cargo hold. All aircrat have MTOW (Mas Takoff Weight) Fro the B788-8 the MTOW is 500,000 lbs. . This number is not irrelevant.

Yes for normal airline operations with baggage etc, The 359 number max with no cargo and minimum fuei. Also, the 8000 NM max range is based upon an empty plane except for fuel. The 259 number is real world for airline ops. For comparison Boeing claims the B777-300 ER can fly 10,000 NM but this would also be with little to no passengers and fuel tanks topped off.

Max capacity is reported to be 359 and max range is reported to be over 8000 NM. Distance from departure to LHR is over 4200 NM. I think the aircraft was within load and the range limits. As usual the "experts" are spectulating left and right. One alleged expert has already declard "pilot error". I can add this unless both engines were out if an aircarft does not climb after takeoff the repsone can be counter intutivie. AKA, lower the noee and see if the aricaft will fly without climbing. American companies for both the aircraft and engines. I read in the past some Rolls Royce engines for the 787 had some problems but not about GE engines.

Air India is one thing and I would never fly them but my concern is about Boeing. After the 737 Max my faith in in this company is faltering. Boeing had an issue with 787 manufacturing. The speciic issue was about how fasteners were installed. One former Boeing employee was fired after going public about this issue. I hope the aircraft was not the problem but I said the same thing after the Max crashes. On this flight there were 242 on board and all are probably deceased. This airplane crashed into a residential area near the airport and the death toll will probably be higher. Really sad and RIP.

Airbus A340-500. It was great from LAX to BKK and back. The premium economy were like business seats on other airlines.

I think my renewal application is going to take awhile: 1. Thai Post confirms the application pacakge was recieved at the US Embassy BKK on May 28. 2. State Department confrims they recieved the pacakge on June 10 and they have started to review the documents. 3. State Department estimates 4 to 8 weeks to complete the renewal application. 4. State Department indicates the processing time frame begins once they recieve the documents.

I don't know about Marine Corps crowd/riot control training but I have recieved over 24 hours of this type of training. I worked the 2000 Democratic National Convention which was held ironically in downtown LA. It got rather "spirited" and and a handful of "peaceful" protestors threw lit cigarettes at our horses. This could have been tragic. Based upon my experience I did not feel the 24 hours of trainig was actually enough. Most of the time it was like organized chaos and keeping accountability of every officer in the squad was difficult. Also, wearing all the gear for hours was difficult. Obviously the mentality of people is much different now. Back in 2000 few people actually challenged or resisted. Even with that arresting just one person took at times 6 to 8 people (4 to 6 to provide a safey circle while the rest actually took control of the suspect and applied the zip ties). I doubt any combat Marine will be proficient in crowd/riot and I doubt very much an agressive Marine will be very proficient in "de-escalatiing) because us cops were not and still are not good at that during this type of event.
