  1. Yes. Once you get into the E-Visa application system it is clearly stated as such. Also, confirmed it. This only applies to this consulate.
  2. The overall experience was good. I applied for a Non Imm OA Visa through the E-Visa system. 1. The financial requirements with the LA Consulate was: 100,000 per month, 1.2 Million Baht in the bank or a combination of income and money in the bank at 1.2 Million. 2. Getting all the documents and then uploading them was time consuming and not exactly easy. For the E-Visa system documents can be in PDF or Jpg. 3. Paying for the Visa on the website was not possible with my US Bank issued Visa card. I called my bank numerous times and a sharp representative suggested using my Debit Card which had a Visa logo. After three attempts the payment with the Debit Card was successful. Apparently a Visa Credit has a security system called 3D and all the information on the account must match(card#, full name, exp date, security code and most importantly billing address). The E-Visa system uses Kasikorn Bank as the merchant bank and typing in a billing address was not possible on this transaction. This is what caused my Visa Credit Card to be rejected numerous times. My E-Visa was approved in 4 days. I received an email with a document that I will have to present to immigration when I arrive in BKK The easiest part was obtaining the Thailand Pass. I used my US CDC Vaccine card which does not have a QR Code. The Thailand Pass with the QR Code was emailed in 90 minutes. The Thailand Pass system does not accept PDF documents. TP only accepts Jpg. or Jpeg documents. I thought the E-Visa and Thailand Pass would take almost 30 days. i had everything wrapped in 5 days.
  3. I would suggest going to the website of the Thai Embassy in your country and read up on the following: 1. Non O Retirement 2 Non OA retirement(can be challenging to complete the application process). *You can use the 1 Million Baht in your account as the financial qualifier for option 1 or 2. Alternatively, you can enter Thailand Visa Exempt or on a Tourist Visa and then pursue a Non Imm O Ext of Stay while inside of Thailand. Does your partner have a Thai passport? If yes then her part is more straight foward. Can your son obtain a Thai passport? If so his process to enter Thailand will also be more straightforward. You have several options but you will have to conduct a lot of research and obtain the necessary information. It might not be easy or quick to get all three of you into Thailand.
  4. Insurance Policies have two parts: 1) Covered Perils-What is Covered 2) Exclusions-What is not covered. Guess which part is bigger? It's not part 1. The purpose of an insurance company is to make money. Paying claims loses money.
  5. Then I must older because I am under 60. Some like myself retired in my 50's.
  6. I have an easier solution. Accept proof of overseas government pensions to enable retired expats a smoother way to apply or extend retirement visas or extension of stays.
  7. Strictly a clinic only(exams, drug screening, Covid 19 testing and medical certificates etc).
  8. I think a Colonoscopy and/or Endoscopy should be next. Age along with blood in the stool are factors that would lead to a recommendation for a colonoscopy.
  9. Try Cmmedclinc.com. It might be easier dealing with a small clinic.
  10. Using a foreign credit card in Thailand or online with Thai businesses that use Thai Banks can be a problem. For instance my US Bank issued Visa was rejected 7 times on the E-Visa website. The MFA uses Kasikorn Bank to accept payments for E-Visa’s. However when I input my credit number, name, expiration date and security code into the payment portal their is no input block for my billing address. This results in my what bank said is a “billing address mix match” and Visa’s security protocols will reject the transaction. The bank said this security protocol cannot be overridden. I am now trying to figure out how to pay for the E-Visa now??? If I can’t figure out the payment problem then “turn out the lights the party is over”. Then it was fun these nlast five years in CNX.
  11. I am waiting for my flight to SIN and it feels like the Powers to Be at BKK have turned down the Air Conditioning? I am sitting next to one of the stand up vents that is suppose to blow out cold air but it sounds very silent. Maybe the 300 Baht Tourist Tax starting in April will get the AC back on BKK. “Oh the humanity” because I wore long pants and now I am now starting to sweat. Also, the Thai Smile Flight last night was also rather warm. Are these cost cutting measures?
  12. What if your the only one in the Sauna? I go to a Hotel Gym in CNX almost everyday and use the Sauna. I have been the only one in the Sauna for the 20 minutes that I use it. I just took another PCR test and it was Not Detected. Every ATK test I took has been Negative. A Sauna like most places can be risky if it is crowded. I took a Thai Smile flight last night and it was about 95% full. There were people to my left, right and front. This flight was probably more risky than my time in the Sauna. Thankfully the flight was only 60 minutes. Also, no food or drinks were served.
  13. I am currently in Bangkok and taking a flight to LAX on Singapore Airlines. I took my PCR test yesterday and got the result last night. For the USA a test one day before your flight is required. If your flight is at 0805 then a test the day before is acceptable. So if you take a Covid test on a Monday then this test is good until 2359 on Tuesday. This satisfies the One day before requirement. Plenty of options in BKK for a PCR or Anti-gen test.
  14. Just got my PCR test result and it was Not Detected. I took two ATK tests in the last 5 days and they were both Negative(used the Hip Bio Tech and Roche tests). Based upon my limited experience the ATK tests were a good indicator of my Covid status. The last time I had possible Covid symptoms were in December 2019. This is when tourists were all over CNX and I had moderate symptoms for about a week. I probably had Covid back then but of course there no tests at that time.
  15. He posted some photos of the food he was served. Looked like the type of food in my first ASQ hotel. Also, no access to a tennis court and the killer: No personal chef.
  16. If you have not seen your passport in months then you must report it to the local and your embassy or consulate ASAP. It is definitely possible your passport information could have been used by someone else?
  17. Hospitals are full or 100% ICU bed utilization are numbers that are dynamic. When I was working in Los Angeles County Law Enforcement this would be frequent broadcast over the Fire Department frequencies: “County USC is full, divert to MLK or Harbor UCLA”. The number of patients in hospitals can change by the minute. Also, what percentage of the patients in ICU’s are strictly Covid?
  18. Keep in mind the country where you transit could have a PCR test requirement. I am going back to LAX from BKK but I transit in Singapore for just 90 minutes. Guess what? I have to have a negative PCR or Anti-Gen test within 2 days of my departure. I have also transited in Tokyo and Incheon S. Korea in 2021 and they did not have Covid test requirements just to transit.
  19. These numbers are nothing compared to the daily totals for Los Angeles County, But the state of California and Los Angeles County have got their priorities right: L.A. County reports record 37,000 daily coronavirus cases but says Super Bowl still on Too much money is at stake.
  20. I have a PCR test next week so that result will determine if any these test are worth the "baht" I paid. I am going to take another one the day before(probably the Roche one?). We shall see what my PCR test is result is in a about a week.
  21. Did quarantine twice in 2021. Booked both times with Agoda. On the second tour of ASQ I booked 14 days and because I was fully vaccinated only did 7 days. The prorated refund from Agoda only took 1 day. Agoda has won my faith and trust. It looks like I might have the honor of a third tour of duty in an ASQ hotel in February and I will use Agoda again.
  22. Prices in CNX: 1. Roche(1199 at Boots each box contains 5 tests). 2) Hip Bio Tech( 100 Baht at Boots) 3. BaiCare(7-11 49 Baht) Tried all 3 and the process all three are very similar. All came back negative.
  23. Why? I will be going back to the US soon and the last thing I want is positive PCR test one day before my flight out of Thailand. Based upon past experience taking a home ATK test is an indicator of possible infection. An ATK test is not highly reliable but it is better than getting an extra PCR test. I did something similar last year before a trip back to the US. I took two Roche ATK tests one week before my PCR test. The ATK tests were negative and so was the PCR. Right now I am evaluating the cheaper ATK tests. At this point the Hip Bio Tech ATK test for 100 Baht seems to be reliable. I have the most confidence in the Roche ATK test but it is most expensive at 1199 baht for 5(it is made in S. Korea).
  24. As an American I am ashamed at what the CDC just said about Travel to Singapore: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday urged Americans to avoid traveling to Singapore entirely, reclassifying its Covid-19 advisory for the city-state and saying the situation there is now “unknown.” The change stems from a lack of testing data that the CDC used to get from data aggregator Our World in Data. That information hasn’t been updated since Nov. 8, the CDC said in an email to Bloomberg. The designation came as a surprise in Singapore, which maintains far stricter testing and social distancing measures than in the U.S., and where the city-state’s Ministry of Health posts detailed virus statistics, in English, on its website every day. “I do think it’s bizarre,” said Ooi Eng Eong, a professor of emerging infectious diseases at Duke-NUS Medical School, adding that Singapore tests so much that “we know more than what most people look for.” Last time I checked the US has a thing called an embassy in Singapore and why not just have a low level employee call the Singapore MOH and ask "what are your Covid number for today"? Also I watch Chanel News Asia and they broadcast Singapore's Covid numbers all day long? This from a nation that just recorded 1 million Covid 19 cases in a single day(possibly over a weekend?). I would have more faith in Singapore's Ministry of Health than the CDC or the NIH. Rochelle Walensky and Anthony Fauci??? Please make these two retire or just go away.
  25. Doubt that because Japan has purchased many and will purchase more in the future and I am certain they did not pay 70 million(probably over 100 million). This does not include the cost of maintenance(maintaining a stealth aircraft with advance avionics is much more difficult than the F-16's and F-5's that were produced in the 1980's). Too bad Taiwan cannot buy a squadron of F-35's. If this were to occur two things would be certain: 1) Beijing would have a coronary 2) Taiwan would have a fighting chance against the sheer numbers of ROC aircraft.
