  1. No. I will find out in about a month when I leave LOS. I did have a Samsung A31(4G) that I bought in Thailand that did not work on the ATT network but did work on the T-Mobile network(the speed was very slow).. ATT told me their entire network in 2022 will be upgraded to 5G and only 4G or higher phones will work on their networks(Based upon past experience I believe ATT is full of "Bull Droppings") . I can't prove this but in the US cell phone carriers do not like it when one brings their own phone. Some have posted that some US Carriers intentionally "throttle" these customers. As far as I know a 5G phone should work across the spectrum of the 5G network. I know my A32 is 5G compatible because in some parts of Chiang Mai I am getting 500+Mbps. My average speed across the entire city is usually 100+Mbps. My A31 never got speeds like that.
  2. I recently purchased the Samsung A32 5G mainly because both Thai and US Cell providers offer this phone as a 5G Device. So far no complaints. Unlocked version was 9999 baht at a local phone store.
  3. I did it twice in 2021. Since you have a reentry permit that is Step #1 of a long list. In terms actually leaving Thailand you only an airline ticket and meet the Covid 19 Testing requirements for your destination and possibly the transit country. Then follow the steps necessary to obtain the Thailand Pass through the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your destination country. Good luck and give yourself enough time to get things done.
  4. For comparison in Los Angeles a 4 hour PCR test costs $500. So I doubt any hospital in Thailand would administer a PCR test for a patient who is about to be admitted. I had a colonoscopy a few months ago and I had an anti-gen test the day before the procedure. The hospital charged me 700 baht(no way a private hospital would charge only 700 baht for a PCR test?).
  5. I learned a simple lesson when I arrived 5 years ago: If I spend then I am tolerated. If I go to where locals shop for cheap items then I got some “dirty” looks. Now I shop, eat out, go to the gym/pool, cinema, immigration, hospital, dentists and before the pandemic lots of international trips. In essence to keep the peace I live in my space and only go into the locals space when I have to. I can’t ever recall feeling a sense of being genuinely welcomed. LOS=It could be rebranded as LOPS-P for Phony?
  6. In Chiang Mai I know of two places the lab results for a RT-PCR will come back in 6 to 7 hours. 1. cmmedclinic.com I got swabbed at 0900 and got the result emailed by 1530. 2. CM Ram Hospital One can get swabbed in the morning and the result will be ready by late afternoon or early evening at the latest.
  7. Something to think about is my case: I am between 55 and 60. I just renewed my health insurance that provides the following coverage: 3.5 Million Baht for IPD and this includes Covid 19. This policy will be compliant even when the new requirements come into effect in September 2022. Annual premium was 61,000 Baht. Unlike the past(where getting a Non OA was great) the best path might be to come into Thailand on a Visa Exempt or short term visa and they convert to a Non O?
  8. I have had health insurance for years in Thailand. The bulk of the coverage kicks in only if I am admitted(IPD-Inpatient). I have very little OPD-Out Patient coverage. A few months ago I had a combined Endoscopy/Colonoscopy done. It was as an outpatient so no coverage under IPD. In the end I paid 39,00 Baht. This amount was much less than in the USA. As always the "devil is in the details".
  9. Being safer with a firearm has two very different components: 1) Actual intense training in the proper operation of the firearm. Assembly, disassembly, loading, unloading and actually firing at the range 2) Most importantly intense and stressful training in how and when to actually use the firearm in real life scenario while under stress. Most firearms owners never get to step 2. Also, I am not a member of the NRA and never have been. Anyone can hit a paper target at a range but few can properly use a firearm in the "real world".
  10. Again. I am not equating the two. I firmly recognize the obvious difference between Rittenhouse, Lanza, Paddock, etc. Rittenhouse is not a mass shooter and no evidence has been presented that he had planned to go to Kenosha to commit mass murder. So being on your esteemed "ignorance" list should be a badger of honor?
  11. wow. What Lanza did and what Rittenhouse did are worlds apart. I have thought this through. One is a mass murderer. The other is stupid 17 year old with a long rifle who went to place where he had no business going to. So are you classifying any use of deadly force as illegal and unjustified. I believe equating Sandy Hook, Columbine, Stoneman or even MGM Grand to what Rittenhouse did in Kenosha is not logical or cogent. Of course this my opinion and others will disagree without accusing me of "not thinking this through".
  12. Ok. Then call me a non-white supremacist. So BLM should be re-branded as DBPLM(Disadvantaged By The Police Lives Matter???). By Definition a firearm is intended to injure and/or kill. In some instances killing another is legally justified. This is the key issued in the Rittenhouse trial. When the right to self defense from the imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury is gone then what comes next? Group(AKA Mob) Justice?
  13. Then "All Lives Matter"? Because a sports announcer said this on air was fired for being racially insensitive? Also, AR15-favorite weapon of White Supremacist? I have owned and used this weapon on a professional capacity. I never knew I had this in common with White Supremacists? Also, I am not White and I am not Black. So Rittenhouse's motive for going to Kenosha was to kill black people? I believe Rittenhouse is a 17 year old who did something incredibly stupid. He should have stayed home. But in America you cannot be convicted of being a stupid 17 year old(at least not yet). The Jury has already been intimidated(by now most of us are aware MSNBC hired a local stringer to follow the jury as it left the courthouse). MSNBC has now been banned from the courthouse. The Jury has been out now 3 days. Based upon past outcomes in criminal trials the longer the jury it is more likely a hung jury will be announced soon?
  14. But "Black Lives Matter? In this trial "Black Lives" were not a factor?
  15. The Jury is in a catch 22: 1) Apply the law and find not guilty of 1st Degree Murder 2) Guilty of 2nd Degree Murder or Manslaughter 3) Not Guilty on All Counts? Either way protests will morph into riots and then looting. This playbook was perfected in the summer of 2020. Groups of people in front of a courthouses can now intimidate juries. I spent over 20 years in Law Enforcement and no way would I ever want to part of it again(as a witness, member of a jury, victim or of course never as a defendant). If the victims are white and the suspect is white then why is BLM there?
  16. This is how one can enter Cambodia. Notice the insurance requirement:
  17. Don't know about the Airline lounges but the Ambassador Lounges were closed but the transit hotel was open. ANA was 1.5 hours to LAX and 3 hours to BKK. Korean was 7 hours to LAX and I don't recall on the way back. I checked EVA for January 2022 and no flights from BKK to LAX. Things might change? B777-300 ER
  18. The THA is like a nice private jail. The Changi "guards" smile and are pleasant. When it's time to go to your gate we all had to line up and be escorted by one of the "guards". Our group walked in a single file line. I resented this type of experience only because of my over 20 years in Law Enforcement. I got flashbacks when I transported prisoners to the Los Angeles County Jail. Others might not care about the Changi THA experience. This reason alone makes me want to pay more to fly with ANA next year.
  19. The word "best" might be difficult to narrow down. In the last year I have flown the following airlines on the BKK-LAX-BKK route. 1, Korean. Very good in all aspects and transit in Incheon was fine. More expensive than other options. 2. Singapore. No major complaints but transit at Changi is like being in jail for 7 hours. Transit passengers are restricted inside of the THA(Transit Holding Area). A cordoned off part the Terminal where food and drink options are limited unless you order food delivery($20 for a cheeseburger, no thanks). The cost was lower than Korean 3. ANA. So far my favorite. Great value and great cabin service. Transit in both Narita and Haneda were fine. It was a joy to enjoy an Asahi while waiting for connecting flight while in the terminal. The beer was only 120 yen so I had two. In the past I have flown EVA from CNX to LAX and back. These were the good old days when I could take an international without having to go to BKK. I would book with EVA again but since I have to leave from BKK I will probably go with ANA again early next year.
  20. Ah yes, You are correct. EVOO and not EEVO. I was drinking some cheap red wine from Rimping at the time(of course cheap red wine in Thailand is 300 Baht($9). For $9 dollars I could have bought 3 bottles of Charles Shaw wine at Trader Joe's in Los Angeles. Charles Shaw wine is also known as "2 Buck Chuck". This is one of the few reasons for going back to the USA.
  21. I don't care about living to 100. I care about maintaining good health for as long as possible. I prefer to stay out of the hospital and not see doctors on a regular basis. As we all age the body starts to break down. I would rather not speed the deterioration process. I have the usual aches, pains and illnesses like most of us who are closing in on old age but I try and maintain what I have. I do enjoy the occasional cheeseburger, pizza and all other foods that defines me as an American but as the Greeks said : "Everything in Moderation". This is just my formula for maintaining overall good health and as a result my BP has been in a good range for years. When I was in my mid 40's there was about a month when the BP hit 180/100. This was mostly due to stress from work and other areas.
