mate, the maoists are already exempt from the plan.....and a plan only it is too. I agree to the bloke above: very few tourists need 90 days and those who do will get a visa at the embassy. I was talking however about those of us who are here long term but still have to report on bail every 90 days and cannot drive to neighbouring provinces overnight for a round of golf without reporting back to wherever we came from (TM30). Otherwise 800 Baht for AWAL. Pure anachronism but.....jurassic park.
which office make you do a fresh tm30 after one night in another province

Will this be met with reluctance or pushback from immigration? The visa extension service is lucrative, and I'm concerned that this might not be well-received. Additionally, it's a significant amount of money for the government to lose in terms of visa extension fees.
just increase the cost of all extensions, lots of people are paying 12,000thb+ for their extensions anyway, so 3-5,000thb would not be out of line
a 90days visa exempt entry would put Thailand in the same ball game as others in Asia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan

The first thing you need to do, is get your UK marriage cert. translated, and I believe registered at an Amphur (council office) have a Thai bank account with 400k take your wife marriage cert. etc. that will help open a bank account, you may need a letter of residence from immigration (that is a long story). once you have your 400k in the bank your up and running, the first time it may seem quite daunting, but treat it as a quest, you don't need an agent. go for it good luck
its a bigger job than just getting a translation and registering at amphur, of the UK marriage cert, needs to be apostille' stamped and also stamped at the Thai embassy in London

as others have posted a multi entry non immigrant 'wife' visa would give you a 90day permission to stay stamp on each arrive during the validity of the visa
every entry into Thailand ( tourist visa, visa exempt, or a non immigrant visa) other than a re-entry permit entry allows you to obtain a 60 day visit Thai wife extension at local immigration office 1,900thb wife has to be with you.
once in Thailand on a non immigrant visa you can obtain a 1 year visit Thai wife extension again 1,900thb, but as you married outside Thailand you will need to jump through lots of hoops to have your marriage accepted and registered in Thailand, these hoops need to be done in The UK ie translated, legalized with apostille' stamp. sent to Thai embassy etc.

visas are normally obtained outside of Thailand.
once married on any visa or visa exempt entry he can obtain a one off 60 day visit Thai wife extension at local immigration office. where was he married, more hoops to jump through if not married in Thailand

would you not do the same, in fact would we all do the same in the same circumstances, prevented by others to do the job he was elected to do

i am staying at the government complex in the centara, and have driven from there to central a couple of times over the weekend, so if that's the pink line, i saw a train using it yesterday, there seems to be construction work at the stations, between central and the complex, and the traffic is a mess, with parts of the road closed off.

yes he/she is correct, check the date on your last extension, it will expire on the same date as your passport

With regards to the above,
1] do you need to retain any deposit in the bank.
2] How long do you need to be out of the country to do the 90 day bounce
3] What happens at the end of the multi entry visa, do you re-apply for another in Thailand?
1/ no
2/ no set time, so can do in/out same day
3/multi entry non imm 'O' visas can only be applied for outside of Thailand
just before the expiry date of the visa do a fresh border bounce for a fresh 90 days

Interesting, is there a benefit then to submitting the extension on the very last day of your permission to stay and thus having to do this once every 13 months instead of every 12? The under consideration of 30 days counts as permission to stay for all intent purposes?
the yearly extension would be dated from the date of application not from when you get the stamp in your passport, its always from the date of application when changing from one type of extension to another, married to retirement of vice versa

The issue is that visa exempt entry requires you to enter with a return air ticket for no more than 30 days.
I was told some are asking to see your airticket???
don't need a return ticket, just a flight out, a throwaway or a refundable ticket, or a rent a ticket

Hi.
Hoping for some assistance.
On the Canberra website, for a single entry visa they are asking for proof of booking of place where the traveler will be staying.
We have bookings for the first 3 nights, but the whole idea of tourism is to explore.
Is this a deal breaker or will they issue the visa without proof of booking for the entire trip?
PS: 30 non visa entry is insufficient as trip is for 6 weeks.
thanks
30 day entry and a 30 day extension would do you

i think that some people forgot to bring mum, so they use an agent as a replacement, my advise is keep away from agents for any immigration requirements

Thank you for your comments and thoughts. Yes, I will explain why in more detail why I use an agent. I am 73 years old (100% disabled Veteran) and I have a hard time getting around. Because of my health issues, it is more convenient to use an agent. When it is time for my extension, a rep. from the agent's office comes to my house and picks up my passport and bankbook. They go to my bank and start the process and then go back and pick up all of the bank documents. Then they turn it all over to immigration. When it's time for me, they come by pick me up and take me to the back door of the immigration building. I go through the a side door sit down in front of an immigration officer, they take my picture and within 2-3 minutes they give me my passport. Then the agency rep takes me back to the car that is waiting and they take me back home. Bingo, that's it. It cost me a total of 5,900 baht to the agent. I know there are a lot of "agent haters" out there, so hate me if you want. A few years back when I was able, I didn't use an agent and did everything myself. But old age has caught up with me and using an agent benefits me a lot now. Peace out...
in your circumstances i can see the benefit of using an agent,

Thanks that is exactly what I needed. Based on your instructions reason I couldn't find it yesterday I started from the bottom of Sukhumvit (3), headed up to 7 to Rayong, On the right I look no luck cut for time I make a u-turn at the International school and head back down.
From instruction it is on the other side of Hwy7.
The shop dropped off all my paint yesterday for the future I rather find a local shop brick and mortar thanks again.
its a big shop, nuts bolts, sheet metal guttering etc, in an outside non aircon section on the left as looking at it , tools, paint household stuff etc, in the right hand side which has aircon, worth spending some time in there as has a good selection of stuff, when leaving there is a u turn a short distance away.
