Things could change in the future, and your wife has 30 years to go before claiming state pension, which is enough years to get a full pension in her own name, earnings up to £102.00 ( 2011 - 2012) per week are free from national insurance, tax allowances are higher £143.00 per week before tax.
By my caculations your wife at 16 hours x £6.08 ( minimum wage)is earning £97..28 just £5.00 short of paying N.I. So could your wife work one more hour to make her liable to N.I contribution, or is that why her company only employ her for 16 hours. if your wife has to pay N.I so does her employer at a higher rate than your wife.
Self employed (class 2) 'stamp' is £2.50 per week, voluntary (class 3) 'stamp' is £12.60.
class 2 can also be paid whilst in Thailand to top up, any shortfall of the 30 years from the uk.should your wife move back to thailand before pension age. must have lived and paid N.I. for three years in the UK. see here - http://www.hmrc.gov....ontr/abroad.htm

She would get a pension based on her husbands contributions unless the rules change prior to her becoming of age, she could pay voluntary contributions to get a pension in her own right, or she could become self employed and pay self employed stamp which is only about £2.00 per week, she could get credits if she has been a parent or a carer, all on the link at post 2

There will be a problem boarding the plane flying on a one way ticket without a visa , a visa or a flight out within 30 days will be required. a cheap or refundable ticket would be the answer, or in fact a tourist visa.

As a child i grew up in the eastend of London, where the local dish was pie and mash,as well as stewed eels and jellied eels, the only utensils available were forks and spoons, it was in later years when the eastend became the 'in' place to live, good fun to watch newbies looking around the shop for a knife.

Sounds like the starter is jammed, turn your headlights on and then try to start, do the headlights dim. is it auto or manual?

Here in Sattahip the only drinks available at most tesco's etc are coke or big cola, no red fizzy, orange fizzy or sprite in any brand, some smaller shops have in stock a limited amount sometimes. Thats tesco sattahip ban chang and pattaya, even makro. i think the factory must be down.

do you mean the operating system language, or the keyboard language. windows 7 ultimate operating language can be changed, all other versions can not,so areinsatll would be required.
Keyboard language can be changed in all versions, under control panel/clock language and region/region and language/change display language/change keyboard. add English either proper English or if required American English, and then either remove Thai, or choose to switch as required.

I would suggest using the Nationality Checking Service, provided by your local council, this from my experiences speeds up the process and eliminates any errors in the form completion

My wife opened an account at the co-op bank in her maiden name, they issued an atm card only, she also had an account at nationwide, they issued an atm card which she used to draw cash in Thailand when it was free, also put your wife on the council tax bill.

All should wear helmets shoulder pads and steel tip boots. This should apply to all who drive anywhere in the world.
I own a country that makes steel tip boots in ######## and am looking for investors.
Perfect investment for old retired fools living in Thailand
would you need a visa to go to the country you own?

Do the lights work?, does the ignition lights come on?, if so is there are noises from anywhere when you try and start it?, could it be loose leads?, can you check the water level in the battery?.

Would I need a countersignature for my son's passport?
It expired this year and he is now 7 years old.
taken from directgov website -
Do you need to get your application countersigned?
You need to get your application countersigned if you are applying:
- for a first passport
- to replace a lost stolen or damaged passport
- to renew a passport for a child aged 11 or under
- to renew a passport when your appearance has changed so much that it would be hard to recognise you from the photo in your last or current passport

you could get a one year multi entry non immigrant 'o' form KL, with 100,000 in the bank, At Savannakhet you can obtain without the need for showing financials. see these thread -
To obtain a one year within Thailand you will need 400,000 or your income of 40,000 per month,
-
Good luck in the Uk, but it isn't what it used to be.
-
multi entry 'o' to be 'activated' every 90 days within Thailand, instead of a border run. the money involved could go to Thailand instead of surrounding countries.
I'm sure plenty of the money goes back to Thailand.
With current visa procedures how many foreigners pay $30+ to enter Laos and $20+ to enter Cambodia on daily basis due to their Thai visa status, either living here on Tourist Visas or Non-Imm multi-entries?
Say an average visa fee of $25 for 500 people = $12,500 a day, $90,000 a week, $4.5million p/a to the neighbouring countries.
I cannot believe that part of this does not make its back to the echelons of authority here in order to have such a system in place.
Quite simply it's a multi-milllion dollar system and changing it would be saying goodbye to millions in lost revenue to all the countries involved. I don't think for a second that it was a system created by accident.
If it was a money making system, Why does it not take place in all surrounding countries, no fees payable for UK passport holders in Malaysia, also different periods of entry apply to different nationalities.

A Thai coming to the UK on a settlement visa can drive on their Thai licence for 12 months without any restrictions being placed on them, if during that 12 months they obtain a provisional Uk licence, they can drive on that new licence without having to comply with the restrictions placed on a provisional licence holder, if they fail to pass a driving test within the original 1 year period, then they do need to conform to the restrictions placed on a provisional licence holder, Where is the logic in that?
