Quick Analysis: With Pita Gone, What Happens Next?
GarryP replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
112 was just the excuse they needed, but it is not the real reason for attacking Pita and the MFP. The elite and the military cannot accept the changes proposed in regard to the military and against the monopolies.- 65 replies

Pita ordered to suspend doing his duties as an MP

You'll get the senators saying they can't vote for Srettha as long as MF is part of the coalition. -
How to handle Thai women becoming “attached” right away?

Withdraw during each date. You don't want to get them pregnant. -
Externally, no, with the exception of a big schneb. Internally, yes (all the same health positives and negatives).

But any disagreement or suggestions on alternatives were not allowed. Honest discussion on the negatives of the proposed constitution was shut down. So actually only those who supported the proposed constitution had a voice. The referndum was an absolute farce, as only one side was heard. And then there was appointment of the senators. A total joke. I want to see them get their comeuppance. Self-entitled tw@ts.

A few days ago the water supply was turned off in my new home town for bout 12 hours (they were suppposedly fixing something). When it came back on it stank like buffalo <deleted> and even now it still does not smell good. Sister in law delivered a tank of water drawn from her borehole (not a double entendre) and we are using that at the moment. The local market traders and many others are very unhapppy with the situation and signed a petition complaining about the situation. Appararently the local district office has run out of chlorine and has also run out of budget to buy more. They must have done something else to to cause the problem. I was contemplating having a borehole drilled when I moved up here but based on info provided by family, didn't think it would be necessary. Changed my mind now but will need to wait until next march or April.

They have been clear. Lowering the penalties and only allowing the subjects or their authorized representatives to file charges under 112, i.e. Somchai, who hates Mr. So Andso, cannot file charges against him if he posts or says anything defamatory under 112. As a further example, probably more than 90 percent of those currently facing charges, would not be facing charges under the proposed amendment, as those who filed charges would not have the authority/right to do so. So the serial complainers would have to find something else to do.

No. He was Prime Minister.

Kick it upstairs. Who appointed the judges in this court (rhetorical question)? If you say their decision is wrong, then perhaps you would be seen as besmirching the person who appointed them. In other words, it is perhaps seen as a good way of getting a decision that people may be scared to question. Personally I don't think it will work though and in fact could backfire considerably creating even more disdain for.......

He applied for Thai citizenship and got it.

When I was a child, I had to walk across the Pennines to get to school, and hunt my lunch on the way. Used to communicate by smoke signal but had to bang rocks together to start a fire. Times change but some people don't.

When my son was 18 he said he wanted to buy a motorcycle. It was fine with me (of course I had safety concerns but he was old enough to make his own decisions so who was I to say no) but my requirement was that he take a training course at Honda in Samutprakarn and get a license. He did and I joined him on the course, as I hadn't ridden a motorcycle in about 25 years at that time and was contemplating getting one. I ended up buying one 10 years later and use it all the time. Now I am upcountry, I understand why so many kids ride scooters/waves. They really don't have much option if they want to go to school. However, kids will be kids and I see them riding while playing on their phones all the time. The school also needs to enforce the wearing of helmets though. Probably less than 10 percent are at the moment since the local school stopped policing this.

For Bangkok and maybe some other provinces with high populations, you need to name the hospital for SS and have to stick with that one. However, for many provinces, you just select the province and you are then free to pretty much use any government hospital in that province (I think it is understood that you will use the local one near where you live). For the 30Baht/gold card/etc. scheme the hospital is set according to where your house registration is based.

My diet is good, I don't drink much alcohol and I exercise very regularly, but I can't get my BP down so will remain on 5mg amlodopine. Have seen a reduction in resting heart rate though. I think it is pretty much genetic. Father ate very clean, next to no alcohol, and regular exercise. Still had high blood pressure. He also had a low HR. So genetics seem to be a deciding factor. Like you infer, medicines may be necessary no matter how well you look after yourself.

For expensive items, I go with a 6 month delay counting from the day I thought of it. If you still remember it in 6 months and are still very interested, go with it. Otherwise, just bin the idea. Saved quite a bit of money this way, the exception being my camera equipment, which I ended up buying but rarely use now (pretty much do everything on my smartphone now as it is so much more convenient).

I was going to say "Now that was a mouthful" but was worried it would be taken the wrong way!

I think two of the biggest issues I've had are plumbing and tiling. They really do not have much experience with PPR piping in our areas. As a result they screwed up both with pipe size and outlet joints/fittings. As I wasn't on site, and by the time I caught the problem the bathrooms had already been tiled, I just complained but let it slide as while the pressure was not as high as it should be, it was sufficient for showers. They also went off plan with where the piping was supposed to be laid, but in my case that was a positive, as if I decide to go ahead with redoing the plumbing in the bathrooms, it will be much easier than if they'd followed the plans. Please keep a close eye on the tiling. I had them redo some of the floor, but it is far from a professional job (a couple of Boonthavorn fitters visited my house for some other work and were surprised at the poor tiling work). Hopefully, you got a better tiling team. I won't be having another house build done, but based on my own experience, if I did, I would want to be on site nearly every day. Having said all that, I do love my new house and look forward to spending the rest of my retirement here.

Actually, the latest presedential polls pitting Biden against Trump show Trump whining.
