  1. They have a low quality capacitor on the compressor. But it should not be 6 months, they last 4-5 years, in general. On the flip side, Daikin uses a superior cooling gas from other brands. Not sure if that's the reason for more frequent failures on the compressor, though.

  8. So, in practice - how would arrivals pay this? Included in ticket price? (what about those who bought tickets before this is coming into effect?) Pay in cash at the counter before reaching immigration? (in which currency? will passengers need to exchange to THB at rip off rates at the airport?) Pay to check-in counter at another country's airport? (what if passenger is just transiting?) Pay by card at counter after arrival? (what about those who don't have credit cards?) What would happen to an arrival who can't pay for whatever reason (say communication failure of some 90+ year old speaking not a word of Thai or English or anything immigration can master)?

  10. A Thai take on this:
  11. Because it's secret they can't climb roof, now luckily golf course was flat... Kidding. Secret service was approved by president Lincoln, on the day he was shot. Their mandate was to tackle rampant counterfeiting of US currency for the Treasury Department. As such they had to operate in secret, to infiltrate and destroy these illegal operations. It wasn't until 1901 that they were assigned tasks of protecting the presidents. They were the first intelligence gathering organisation in the US, which pave way for FBI formation in 1908. In 2003, the Secret Service was moved from under Treasury Department to Department of Homeland Security. Their scope also increased, to protect not only sitting presidents, but also candidates, past presidents, and their families, along with some other visible positions in the US government.

  13. Actually crime and incidents seem to be up globally, nearly like if COVID and vaccines took a couple of dozen points off people's IQ.
  14. This can backfire easily also. If this is publicised, then the number of arrivals waiting to receive payback to return might increase very quickly. Sweden does have plenty of sea, though. They could simply rent some cruise ships that went out of operation during pandemic, accept first strike law that migrants get jailed and deported on first offense, catch them, dump them on the ships docked miles from shore, and when full, take them back to where they came from. Sweden, like most other nations, needs migrants to fill job positions that are needed but unattractive to locals. There however needs to be a drive for quality migrants as well. In the past only legal arrivals were allowed to stay. Now, illegals are being not just tolerated but encouraged, financing criminal gangs all over the globe. That's just wrong.
