Ex-farm chicken eggs to go up to 4 baht each from Friday
superal replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Allegedly ? I understand because when I lived in the countryside in the UK there was an elderly guy who sold free range eggs from his house . He was selling so much that he could not keep up with the demand . Then early one morning I saw a large box van delivering eggs to his house from a local egg farm where there were no free range chickens . I went to visit him an hour later and what a surprise , he was rubbing the newly bought eggs into chicken poo to give the appearance of non factory eggs . -

Yes that is true of food colouring within the housed chickens industry . Free range chickens have the green grass and insects / worms to eat and the green grass makes the yolks a deeper yellow . They also have basic chicken feed without colouring additives ( at least it was what I did ) . If all chickens were free range the price of eggs would be much higher and indeed intensive farming can be cruel but sorry to say a necessity . E.G. ( pun not intended ) many years ago a chicken dinner was normally at Xmas but now because of intensive farming it is eaten regularly . -
Police Prepare For Nationwide Protests, Parliament Heavily Guarded

The majority of the Thai population had high hopes of real democracy when Pita won the vote but now there is huge disappointment and anger . I believe you are correct that Thai citizens will come from far and wide to Bangkok , as never seen before , to demonstrate their opposition to the governments refusal to accept the election result . Not a revolution because the people are as one but an uprising and maybe strikes are seriously on the cards . Maybe the powers in control have underestimated the populous reactions ? -

In the UK a free range chicken has to have access to open air runs for at least half its life time which has to be at least 56 days old before slaughter . Within the chicken house no more than 13 birds to the square meter . ( That is tight space ) . Open air runs are often just bare ground because the chicken poo has killed the grass ( ammonia poo ) . So you can see that the "free range egg " is a misleading term . I use to keep upwards of 40 free range chickens and they are more susceptible to diseases caught from wild birds . Indeed the glossy videos on the TV showing happy hens is mostly B/S . Proper free range eggs normally have a yellow to orange colored yolk and taste slightly creamier and will be costlier than penned up chicken eggs . Thailand eggs are often on the older side and when cracked into a frying pan often break or lay flat . Not many stand up yolks here . -
So true . Buying into a well know franchise , tied to their products & rules . Paid a down payment and signed a contract for a set amount of years . Stock is replenished by way of the computerized till . You are in effect working for the franchise bosses without them employing you . Their % profit per article will be much higher than the shops . Much better off to go it alone . Friend has a Family Mart shop . Makes 30,000 baht a month profit but works 14 hours a day , 7 days a week . Then pays a bank loan & part time staff .

It would be interesting to see a map of the dengue high risk areas . Many people think that the evenings are the times when dengue is prevalent but it is day and night and more so in rural districts where waste water or rain accumulations are left to gather . The local Thai government sometimes inspects your home for places that contain water in your garden that the mosquito will lay her eggs . Potential fine .

Because in this Thailand heat an unfrozen dead body would have a strong pungent smell that would raise questions of the source , plus attract many insects .

That is anyone's guess . If it can be kept quiet , then it will . -
The " Climate change lobby " are receiving backing from many governments ( not all ) on carbon dioxide emissions and hence the focus on electric vehicles and solar energy . The skeptics , with conspiracy views , must be running out of arguments . Year on year there seems to be chronic weather events . The increasing global population may also be a factor as demands for human needs multiply energy output . Weather wise , the UK seems to be breaking weather records every year . E.G . this June was the hottest on record .
-
Thailand rainfall down this year but look at India and the New England on the east coast of America with extreme flooding . Also Spain is hit by rain and hail storms . The west coast of the U.S.A. has record temperatures . The UK had its hottest ever June with hose pipe bans already in some areas . Thailand should be more adept at retaining water because of its hot climate .

Without a charge it would be unlawful in most countries but TIT . However it would be naive of the RTP to let a potential suspect the freedom to depart the area or country . At the very least his passport details would/should be highlighted to border controls . Because of his close connections with the deceased he is a person of interest at the very least . The fact that the freezer was in his condo means he knows those who brought it .

Olaf had been interviewed by the police over the week-end . He has to be a prime subject because of his sudden disappearance . I would think that the police should have confiscated his passport , checking out all relevant CCTVs and looking at mobile phones for all concerned . The 3 million baht reward sounds like a weak distraction , just as well been 100 million cos would never be paid out ( if the perpetrators are involved in the reward ) . For sure the motive will be money or acquisitions . The RTP will have this solved quickly .

The cold water that is within a tiled enclosure about 1 meter x 1 meter deep x 40 centimeters wide is heavily stained by limescale . It is coloured brown in some places and the thickness of an eggshell . I have tried several ways to remove it including vinegar , lemon , toilet cleaner with 14% hydrochloric acid and finally scraping with a decorators scraper and a Stanley knife blade but all to no avail . The Stanley blade did remove some scale buy took ages and the blade became blunt . Has anyone managed to achieve success in descaling similar to above ? tips would be welcome

Land ownership
superal replied to KayDeeDee's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
You need the authorization to keep it on your name and they never do it. They delegate the powers to land department. So according so section 94, you have 180 days to 1 year to dispose of the property. The Court grants you to be executor and as executor, the land department will give you time to transfer or sell. If you sell, you can keep the proceeds. You could also transfer to a Thai person that you know and ask in return a contract to live there until you die. The problem is if you do wish the real estate to by given to a foreigner later.... There are ways around but it's land mine and could be Are you saying that following a sale a non Thai can benefit from the sale of not only the house but also the land which under the Thai law a foreigner is not allowed to own ? -
Agree & medical treatment globally seems to be a problem unless you have a top notch insurance or are a wealthy person . In the UK the much revered NHS is about to collapse with doctors & nurses resigning and taking jobs within the private sector or emigrating to countries with better paid / better condition jobs . For the likes of retired folks who have paid their contributions to the UK national insurance throughout their working life and now find it almost impossible to get a doctors appointment , this is disgraceful .

Agree and the gov; hospital waiting rooms are packed with patients and their families , often no where to sit for the late arrived patient . Waiting rooms are putting you at risk from picking up an infection from waiting patients . Finally the majority of gov; doctors are newly qualified medics with little experience and chucked in at the deep end . My local gov; hospital also imposes higher charges for foreigners , at the doctors discretion . My preference is to visit a clinic run by a middle age doctor who also works in the gov; hospital . His fees are reasonable and waiting time is 5-20 minutes .

In the UK I kept upwards of 40 free range hens . Always a pleasure to collect the eggs from the nest boxes . Often got double yolkers from the pullets . New eggs do not break their yolks so easy . It is the older eggs that do and are also flat yolked . Breaking your eggs into a small bowl before putting in the frying pan is good practice because as you say , if it looks old you can dis guard it and not contaminate the other eggs in the pan . Here in Thailand I once broke an egg to fry and it was black inside . Changed the supply shop after that . The egg in water test is reliable and I now use that regularly . ( Lay egg in a bowl of tap water , if it lies flat or stays on the bottom it is fairly fresh . If it stands up and comes to the surface , it is old and best not eaten

Hate to say this " but I told you so " along with many other posters on here . The " suitcase wheel theory " was never to blame . The lack of daily inspections and regular scheduled maintenance could well play a part in this event . It would be interesting to view the airports log books of all mechanical articles used within the airport detailing actions taken , replacement parts and N.D.T. That is assuming that they have them. BTW any large western company would have insurance for such incidents but there would be a strict compliance of maintenance to ensure the insurance policy cover is upheld . In the west the buck stops at the top , hence the C.E.O. takes great interest in health & safety to mitigate any chances of corporate manslaughter . But here on mars you can throw the rule book away .

Cooked chicken leftovers should not be left un-chilled for more than 2 hours because of the bacteria build up . If more than 2 hours and it is chilled , then cooked piping hot the bacteria will be killed but not the trace toxins which can give you problems . Also left over rice or uneaten rice must be cooled quickly to refrigerate and only reheated once sine it gains bacteria quickly . But many will disagree and reheat rice a few times but I quote from hygienists .
