Thinking that the red plate is a bit of a status thing. "Look at my new car."
-
Not if you buy out of Province and registration is included in the purchase price.
Because your dealer is not paying the registration fees but sitting on the money. Why does it take so long to register a vehicle? 10 weeks and still on a red plate.Paid dealer for registration when purchaced. Did not buy out of Province. Not particularly worried about it, just seems rather a slow process.
Yes, you paid him but he did not pay the DLT.
I will pop back this week and ask dealer. My Thai language is not that good but I like a challenge.

How do certain people get away with never having a number plate? Last place I lived a bloke down the road changed cars about 5 times, always flash imports, none of them ever had a licence plate fitted.

What about the guys who pay millions for "lucky" numbers?
I doubt they will give the "lucky" number away with the car when they sell it?
What if the car is written off in an accident"?
My thought also. Perhaps if you buy one in an auction you get some certificate that allows you to transfer it to another car.
Personally don't care what plate the vehicle has.

Kudos to SoiBiker for sticking it out during his thread. Nothing worse than a thread that the OP never replies to.

I can't get what the OP was looking for. Justification or ridicule?
Just venting, really.
Apologies to anyone who was offended. Bad things happen when you come between a hungry man and his lunch.
Ta. Get it. People including me will post. Daft posts, serious posts? Most are a bit of fun, excellent replies a lot of the time. Some harsh but deserving.
Keep hold of your umbrella.

I'm not much of a food court guy, but the one at terminal 21 is very good. And it's cheaper than most other food courts
Used that one myself. Good food, good price. No umbrellas.

So far you have failed dismally.I wish. I came here to learn from the true wise ones. The great oracles of Thai visa.
SoiBiker is indulging in a bit of irony.
I got that. My reply was an indulgence as well.

Meanwhile the real killers are sitting somewhere laughing and joking. Does that sit easy with you in cloud cuckoo land?If this is all true then it's great news for the families to these scumbags finally arrested and give at least some closure for them.
There's a lot of unsolved all around the world that will never be solved and the Thai police were under the pump from day one with such a high profile case.
Let's hope that all the authorities involved in this case will learn from this including procedures and press statements in future cases.
18 days is excellent work considering the amount of suspects they had to deal with.
Well done despite the press gaffs along the way!
Agree completely with you. As I mentioned in another thread, not exactly textbook criminal investigating, but, it now appears certain the RTP have found the culprits.
The way the families of David and Hannah have conducted themselves throughout this ordeal is a real credit to them. I am also extremely proud of the RTP for sticking to their guns and investigating they way they deemed most appropriate.
I believe this outcome will surely go some way to restoring people's faith in not only the RTP, but also in Thailand as a holiday destination.
Stay safe guys, use common sense and let's all stop with the silly conspiracy theories and get on with the healing process for all involved.
Too many on here are unwilling to accept any outcome other than a Hi So Thai.
They themselves are as bad as they claim the RTP to be. Only interesded if evidence points to Hi So.

Seems to me that all Thai cashiers have mastered the art of opposable thumbs and manual dexterity to a much higher degree than the average westerner.

I do the same. They have no problems ..."I often drop it - the whole thing -- just so I can watch them pick it up"
Good idea actually!!
What I do (all nice and slow and calm) is take the coins, then remove the receipt and discard it on the counter, then I take the notes and put them in my wallet...they don't seem to mind.
Who are the "they"? The servants who don't seem to mind?

Simple way is to give them the correct amount = no coins returned
most appear to love it when you can round the bill up to a note, also gets rid of all the little coins.......... who wants a pocket full of .25 or .50 coins, or for that matter a load of 1 baht coins ?
Used to live in a country just like that. Rare to get coins in change as they would round the bill up or down. One time you win next maybe loose. Only the equivalent of 5 baht either way and evened itself out over time. Problem is after reading some topics on here the thought of having a bill rounded up and loosing 25 satang in change would push some people over the edge.

To be fair its a selfish way of giving you your change, receipt, stamps all lumped into one disorganised mess!
and all whilst you are trying to manoeuvre your shopping trolley and kids
this method suits them fine but not you struggling with your purse wallet, loose coins, different value of notes ETC and trying to keep safe the receipts with all those other bits of paper they give you for credit when you are next shopping.
Those who are not irritated with this bizarre way of giving you your change obviously have time and patience, maybe they are right
How would you like it to be done?
Handed the large notes first followed in order by the smaller ones, wait while you arrange them in your wallet, next the coins or possibly reciept then any stamps thet may be on offer. Poor cashier would probably get berated constantly by others that prefer it to be done in a different order and those waiting to be served.

It is done in the U.S. - some believe it is a sanitary way of exchanging money ... I liked it when clerks counted my changes in bills and coins as they handed it to me ... But too much to ask most anywhere in the world today ... I often drop it - the whole thing -- just so I can watch them pick it up...
What a fun person you must be.

Is it legal to fish using small minnows as bait in Thailand?
My wife buys small plaa duk and fishes with them. Seem to be good bait for jungle perch.

The words of a man without education or perception. Sad that this forum is so full of dollaly posters.
Why the Thai folk? Such blatant bigotry is awfull. Could be true and so be it. Possibly not.At least the BS can stop now and they can start testing the Thai folk...
"Could be true and so be it". Such indifference in the face of such trauma.
Sorry. The judgement is out at the moment. No indifference on my part to a terrible crime. Why blame a Thai?
-
The insensitivity of the reporting has been reprehensible throughout. But at the same time the world should know just how revolting and lowlife the culprit(s) are.
\This is a great development and at the same time, very sad for the affected families to have to hear the details publically. Horrible.
Spot on, tomyummer; they could have left those very intimate details out of the public domain, for Pete's Sake ! ! ! I feel so sorry for the parents here ! ! ! ! !
When the story broke there were a lot of people defending the integrity of the local Thais. Those people are thinner on the ground now as we hone in on the truth.
I think many posters are not familiar with just how degenerate Thai society has become.
Rape is becoming a daily occurrence in Thailand by Thais.
Only today, a Spanish girl raped by a taxi driver in Bangkok.
If the Thais cannot put a stop to such abhorrent behaviour then the rest of the world should vote with their feet and holiday elsewhere. There are plenty of other countries offering similar 'entertainment services' and with cleaner beaches and better food - and with a lower per capita quota of rapists.
So where else is rape not a daily occurance? Horrific but continues to happen. No police force will ever stop it. World we live in. Scared to live in or visit Thailand? Personally no problem.
-
Agree, Thai police should be working in a Circus instead of being cops.Farce, but The BIB knew from the start. Cover up big style. They are clowns, but they will do everything to protect their masters.
Hard to give a sensible reply to such a stupid comment.

Well the three stooges could do a better investigation. They are now testing the women on the island? No way they're gonna bust a Thai male for this are they. It's got to be a migrant woman. Jeez, 5 days have gone by and they still won't check out the Thai males that could've been responsible. Ain't gonna get solved, that's what I think. A small island with very few inhabitants, this could have and should have been solved within 48 hours, but when you won't look at the obvious culprits, you aren't gonna solve it. Must be some mighty connected person who committed this with so much protection.
I don't think a mighty connected person from a well off family would kill and rape someone. Doesn't make sense. If it was mafia style shooting, or involved a racketeering ring then you could say this.
The Thai police is just incompetent.
Every option is still open to my mind. DNA suggests Asian culprit.
Why go Mafia route. Hopefully time will tell. Unfortunately may never be solved.

Where do you buy protective gear? Locally there happens to be a "superbike" outlet. Gorgeous bikes on display. Tried buying gloves there. Well known make but could not get my hand into the XL.
