  1. Highly over rated and a total failure during his tenure which came in via the back door of democracy. A full time politician who has not work in his whole adult life carries all the handicaps required to run the economy. A top notch education and a gifted orator don't equates to a good administrator of the government if you are weak and beholdened. Though still time for him to reinvent himself and be a top civil servant.

  2. Condolence to the family. Putting firearms to the hands of untrained personnel from different background and provinces and possibly gang affiliation is just a recipe for disaster. These guards are drawn from unsavory background and would not hesitate to draw their guns in dispute or when drunk. If Suterp can't control these guards, we can expect more internal fighting, not politics that could run out of control.

  3. There are just too many political parties in Thailand. Compare with Indonesia which has more than 40 parties some 20+ years ago but only have about a dozen now. Smaller parties join up to have better resources and attract better members. Or Malaysia where smaller parties join a more dominant national party like the Barision National and present the same platform in an election. Here in Thailand, the parties are framented and could not attract better quality politicians as they are small in name and resources and become prey to dominant parties.

  4. The "final battle" or just another judicial coup? Why are they so frightened of elections?

Because they expect to lose - again.

The real question is why is the PTP so afraid of reform before the election.

You like most people who know nothing about what is going on think the anti government protestors don't want an election.

You are partially correct. They do not want an election that rubber stamps corruption.

They want an election for an honest government. To get this there are certain penalties to be imposed and certain laws to be clarified so when one law says this is illegal there is not another one saying it is legal. To get this there are changes that must be made.

Explain to me if you can. Why does the PTP not want this?

Short answers as this old subject:-

    1. Suterp is wrong man to lead reform. He is corrupted to the core and is trying to settle score

    2. What reform plan? Only sketchy headlines. He is interested only in snatching power with reform as the facade

    3. There is no constitutional law to support him to form a interim government.

    4. Government invited Dem for a reform committee in Sept and was declined and opt for street protest. All per-plan with Suterp.

Assume the Dem win next election, would you change your statement that election stamp corruption? Get my point?

  5. Time to shut up and let the courts make what ever decisions they are going to make.

The caretaker government and their supporters are doing such a good job of shooting themselves in the foot- his noise is only distracting from that.

The court and the NACC have already made their decision. The decision was made weeks ago. Everybody knows.

Whatever the interim government is doing has nothing to do with the decision to remove Yingluck and the existing gtovernment. The decision was made weeks ago. This charade is just 2008 al over again. Everybody knows.

I don't know why they insist on dragging it out. It's like a TV game show where the announcer tries to increase the suspense by saying, "And the winner is... [long pause] and the winner is ...[another long pause] and the winner is... [and by this time I've turned to another channel]. Maybe they think this is going to persuade some people they are really struggling with profound questions of law and justice. Everybody knows.

The interesting question to me is which of the factions behind him thinks something has happened so that they will benefit from provoking bloodshed.

They need to get on with it. The elephant in the room will not wait forever.

If the courts can made a conviction for a trivial cooking show, what chance has Yingluck got. This time things may not go that easy as in 2008. Glaring injustice twice will not be seen kindly by many including academics.

  6. Just imagine the progress that could have been made if the jealous & spiteful elite hadn't turned on the best PM Thailand has ever had. Instead we have had 8 years of hatred & mayhem, with no end in sight. It wouldn't have mattered if it was Thaksin, or any other leader that had tried to prise the power away from the traditional power base, they would have ended up receiving the same fate.

Bloody hell you go on with some bullshit at times - this latest nonsense is probably the best so far.

Rich Teacher I agree with you 100%

Just imagine the progress that could have been made if the jealous & spiteful Taskinites hadn't turned on the best PM Thailand has ever had. 1 that had a good education and kept Thailand out of the world recciesion, Instead we have had 8 years of hatred & mayhem, with no end in sight putting some non trained puppet in control

I hope you not mind me fixing the few mistakes you made

Your best PM Thailand ever should have no problem winning an election. Are you talking about the one that sneak in by the military back door and became the PM without the mandate of the majority?

  7. Of course she should resign but she wont. She and her brother and the corrupt incompetent brigade behind her want to cling on to some sort of "power",as the country descends into economic and political failure. We will have to wait for the courts and/or senate to pull her away by her varnished finger nails

Would it be more politically correct to say that she should not resign and continue to be the caretaker PM until the next election in order to maintain law and order. Illegal anarchist like Suterp should never be rewarded by breaking the law. It's the PDRC that is ruining the economy and creatifng political chaos?
The last sentence meant to be a question? If so the answer is No! Proxy yingluck and the crew are "solely" responsible as facts are revealed over time.Maybe when those responsible are in jail or more likely in Dubai

Fact is that Thailand was never in any economic problems even if you include the rice scheme. There is no lower credit ratings and our debt to GDP is in good shape. Our foreign reserve was healthy and we have a very good service industry. All that change after the last quarter '13 when GDP dipped to 0.6%, sharp decline in domestic consumption and a massive reduction in government spending. Oh, our service industry like tourism took a big hit too. That coincide with the start of the PDRC protest. Economy will continue to take a toll as long as these anarchists are trying to snatch power illegally.

  9. So, just checking to see if I have it right .... ...

Anybody can lay siege to polling places for a legitimate election thereby stopping people from voting: the police do nothing and the courts say .."Oh wait, that wasn't a real election 'cos some polling booths were closed off !

The Democrats say .. I'm taking my bat n ball and not playing'

A madman decides he doesn't want elections and he should have sovereign power.

The courts think .. 'Hmmm yep ..that sounds about right.'

    What a joke.

    This is not a joke.

This is exactly how Thailand needs to do to get rid of the evil Thaksin, and his whole family, clan, friends, etc.

And who would you think will get rid of the evil Suterp, conniving Ahbisit and the scheming Amarts after they get rid of the evil Taksin and his family. This no solution but a continuation of the division. Dem must reform to challenge PT in an election. Suterp must push for dialogue for reform and made reform a decree with royal endorsement and agreed by all parties. Courts must stop their double standard and PT must listen to all the stakeholders.

  10. This monk has an affinity for cash.

I wonder what Buddha would think of him?

Your just as bad as the newspaper, and if he knew who you really are, and not just a coward that hides behind a keyboard

He could Sue you as well for this comment

Please show me proof that he wanted this money for himself

Why he can not want the monies to help the priesthood

everyday people donate money to Monks, and this money goes to the temples and priesthood

so are they all have an affinity to Cash

On this subject you will get no argument from me, but I keep my thoughts to my self

You have insulted every Thai who loves the Monkhood with your posting

I hope you will now be a real man and apoligise to Thais for you comment made before thinking them through

This is the monk who recently extorted B120,000 from a hotel isn't it?

    https://twitter.com/RichardBarrow/status/436666592387018752

Your ability to commit libel is outstanding

extorted I hope you can prove that

Other may say it was compenstation

So I guess in your mind, billions of baht every year are extorted from Thais to give to the temples

Please show us the facts that this money was kept by him for his own financial gain?

an apoligy to the Thai people would be nice !!!!!

Compensation is to recompense suitably. He book 10 rooms but asked for 120,000B. Certainly no suitabilty and there was threat (extortion) when you have a big group of people at your hotel lobby. Similar to PDRC leader Witthaya and his group harassing M-link, owned by niece of Taksin to sell their mobile phone at 10,000 when the standard is 15,000B. No choice but have to give in to such threat. Witthaya then said he will come back to buy 1,000 sets and if not given the same discounted price, he will file case with the police. Clear cut threats. Conclusion both are extortion cases.

  11. I don't know exactly what Suthep meant by his apparently ill-considered remarks and I don't suppose many other people do either. But the caretaker government's response seems to be an overreaction. Article 113 of the Penal Code that they are asking their DSI poodles to investigate only deals with violence or threats of violence used to overthrow the government or constitution. Suthep didn't actually mention anything about violence in his ramblings. That has so far been the sole prerogative of government ministers and their red shirts who are threatening to form an armed volunteer force.

The government failed to react to separatist threats by their paid red shirt lackeys and announcements by government ministers of the formation of an armed terrorist group. Now they are up in arms about some incomprehensible nonsense spouted by Suthep on the stage. Yingluck is even trying to involve the Army Chief, while her moronic cousin, 'Dr' Suraphong, is trying to get the US ambassadress to take her break from her adoring devotion to Thai people and culture to dial in an air strike on the monitor lizards of Lumpini Park. Double standards?

It's very clear what Suthep meant by his well thought out remarks.

The courts throw out Yingluck and he takes over to do whatever he pleases, whenever he pleases to whomever he pleases.

Its exactly what unelected tyrants do, so no real surprises here. The only ones that are shocked are the idiots who bought into Sutheps lies about fighting corruption and "restoring" democracy.

It seems the supposedly dimwitted red shirts supporters are far more clever than the Suthep loving farangs when it comes to picking lying cheating dictators in the making.

I understand his remarks in a different way:

When the courts rightfully decide that Yingluck has to be removed from office

and Yingluck and the PTP ignore the law and just stay in office - which can be expected

In this case the law has to be enfortced

which is the job of police

If they do not do that - which is what can be expected

the people have to do that - and he will help.

If the constitutional judges don't subvert the judiciary system, she will be acquitted. If they do convict, she will exit. There are capable deputy to step in. The real coup will be that the judges completely tear the law to shred and rule the whole cabinet out and creat a power vacuum. Who knows then. They should be wise enough not to do that.
