Read the story twice to be sure I had the facts in my mind . The driver has obviously been ordered to continue by this inconsiderate piece of garbage who is a member of parliament. The driver was obviously in a big hurry to get this piece of garbage to the airport to reach his flight . Tells you much about the mentality of the elite in Thailand My deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased.

Why are there so many haters on this site?

I do not see any capital gains here in Thailand in the near future . However i have no intention to sell either , therefore rental income is what is important to me . If you pay too much for making the apartment rentable you are not making money . When i make an apartment for rent i do the work my self . I then make double on if I had professionals to do the work . Main obstacle with that is it takes much longer longer to complete . My girl friend was wanting to buy a small shop she rents for 5500 baht a month . Sale price is 2,500,000 baht which comes out at 2.6 percent . When you buy property there are costs on top for maintenance costs . There fore you have a very poor return on your money The building is rundown and would soak at least a further 800,000 to bring it up to scratch with so called professionals doing the work . My advice to her was the place is not worth half the asking price , forget buying . -

It is extremely difficult to find competent tradesman period . I have worked on the house I live in for seven years . Now I have a basement to complete that has just the second fixing to do. The rent you receive in Thailand gives no room for just getting in professional people to do the work if you can find them as the cost will outweigh any reasonable return from the rental income. I have had windows made and that is all the help I have had in 7 years. I recently had two guys attempt to level the floor in the basement.Big mistake. -

itsari replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
The death of the young Belgian is from rafting down a swollen river which is more dangerous than rapids as there are many objects in the water such as trees fences buildings that can not be seen . My condolences to the family of the young Belgian . -

I can understand your frustrations as most foreigners and myself have experienced something like you have . Best alternative is do the work yourself . If that is not possible then buy property that needs no renovation work . I paid for a concrete floor to be levelled out recently . The whole of the work done now needs to be removed . First time I have hired people for some time . Now I have bought a concrete grinder for 28000 baht to have a new attempt at levelling the floor . Anyone out there who wants to buy a used concrete floor grinder when i have finished let me know- 211 replies

How desperate are you to stay in Thailand?
itsari replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Desperate enough to not give in despite the cultural differences and I like the Chang beer . -
I live on 12 to 15 thousand a month . I do not pay rent and I have the electricity and wifi paid from a few rooms i rent out . Any profit from the rooms goes back into the property for making more rooms . My pension income is around 50000 baht . The rooms i rent have been built by myself in the past 7 years .

Baht weakens due to the rise in the US dollar. Trade deficit rises to the Thai dependence on imported energy that is paid in US dollars . Policy of covering the increase in energy with there so called oil fund is going to increase borrowings dramatically . Result will be a further pressure on the baht . Best to wait with transfering money to Thailand.

Yes, plastic bag is ok too . But for convenience when working leave the brush in water . Removing the water is done in seconds . I have done much painting in my life and the method i suggest works well . But if left until the water has evaporated then you have lost your brush . Actually i use the plastic bag method with rollers . I have gone back to the roller after many months and still ready to use if the same paint is required .
