I have been trying to use Messenger in Facebook to make video chats on my laptop using Windows 10. The sound is OK but I cannot seem to get any picture sent via my webcam. The laptop works fine when using Skype.

I am planning to have a Pet / CT scan at Chulabhorn Hospital and I am going there next week to arrange an appointment. I have all the documentation from my Dr from Christian hospital who is recommending it and wondered if I am likely to be hit with any surprise requests when I get there. I do not need the scan until mid July so hope that I will have no problem with making an appointment for then.
Anyone on Thai Visa who has had such a scan at that hospital and if so any tips or comments you have would be appreciated.

Having just spent 20 minutes sitting in a massage armchair at Tops waiting for my missus to do the weekly shop, I have decided to buy one. Does anyone have a make they would recommend, a shop in Pattaya that stocks them or what features I should check that they possess.

I have just been informed by Nationwide that they are bringing in new security measures and that will require me providing them with my mobile phone number. I am currently using an address of a relative in England so I have advised them I don't have a mobile phone and I am awaiting their response.

It's amazing how many farangs I know in Thailand who get their thrills and pleasures in the year from how their bank balance has increased, and how their gold holdings and shares portfolio has soared in value.
I personally, within reason, like to spend mine on buying and doing things I want, without trying to justify if the purchase or trip was really worth every baht that I spent.
I have taken my girlfriend in the last 10 years to America, Australia, England and several parts of Asia and thoroughly enjoyed each trip.
They, with many times more wealth than me, consider their annual trip with their boy/girl friend to a 5* hotel to celebrate their birthday, an unnecessary indulgence.
I have reached the twilight years of my life and look back and think not how unfortunate I was not to amass the considerable assets many of these guys have, but thank my parents for guiding me to have had the attitude in life that gives me so many fine memories.

Thaivisa is amazing. I was the one who started off this topic with a simple thought and since then there have been another 158 posts covering the most diverse subjects and views one could imagine.
My thought was that as a aged sick person living in Thailand with no dependents in my home country and a long standing girl friend here who would eventually receive all my Thai assets from the will that I had made here, any money that I would lose from having to have my money tied up here in a bank earning low interest, for visa requirements would affect her and not me. I almost certainly have enough to live in quite comfortably for the rest of my life unless I surpass 90. So if my remaining assets here are reduced by the new rules of immigration she is the one that will suffer not me and yet I am sure that is not something that the powers that be here in Thailand even considered.
A very simple thought that could generate so many comments from experts on so many topics.
How the British Government could benefit from having some of you as part of it to sort out Brexit.

OP you claim you having 2 wives is the reason why you cannot marry your Thai gf. Apart from the bigamy angle, can you actually disinherit completely your wives? If not, then your gf will suffer much more from having to share the estate than from any lost interest.
They already have had their large settlements and do not know I live in Thailand.

With 2 wives still back in the UK that could be tricky!!!!!

I am not comparing interest rates with home & Thai banks. I have read many posts from people who make non bank investments at higher rates and will no longer be able to do so. I am stating that they will not be the person in the long run who will be suffering from loss of investment.

I read about the many farangs who will be suffering financially from the new retirement visa regulations. They are having to keep a large amount of baht in a bank account all year earning little or no interest. Maybe I have missed them but I have not read any comments about how it will affect many Thai ladies. Losing interest or not, I like many farangs, will have enough to survive living in Thailand even without that interest but it will mean that that my estate when I pass on will be less and my Thai girlfriend of 15 years will end up receiving less money from my will because of the new rules. I am sure she is not the only Thai lady that will be affected in such a way.

Did mine this week at Jomtien. Did a transaction first then went to desk at Bangkok bank who updated my bank book, gave me signed letter and all went OK at immigration.

Interesting topic . I have a sterling deposit account with Bangkok Bank to keep a little more than the equivalent of 800,000 baht in just for my retirement visa - with a bank book but it pays no interest . I am resigned to forgetting about this and just leave there for the annual visa renewal . Are we talking about the same FCD account or can I put my sterling in another recognised account and get interest ?
You need to set up a new fixed term sterling account

Am I able to make my Bangkok Bank Fixed Term FCD a/c an on-line account and if so do I have to visit my branch to do it.

Better losing your interest than losing your extension to stay.
Can you get a fixed term FCD account? Must ask at Bkk Bank. I do have a FCD Savings account and get a bit of interest now & then, but also get charged if it drops below GBP 1000.

On a 12 month 'fixed term' it's currently 0.9%.
If you have a regular Savings account, I believe it's only 0.1%, but stand to be corrected.
Correct

Read my post @ 4.
So on the day of renewal, how do you get it updated if it's controlled in Bangkok

Yes, I have similar FCD. I had to go back to the local branch 3 or 4 working days later to collect the book.
(although this was 2yrs ago)
The sterling account does not have a book

I have just opened a pound sterling account with Bangkok Bank with enough money to cover next years 800,000 baht even allowing for a small shift in currency rate. My previous sterling account had a bank book but for this one year account with interest you are only given a certificate. How will it comply with the new rules of showing an up to date bank book on renewal and also 3 months after.
I renewed my visa this week at Jomtien and it went very quickly and without any problems using the 800,000 baht deposit option and I was given the written instructions re when to appear again with my book. What I didn't check was when I return in 3 months do I need another letter from the bank in addition to my updated book.

Thanks for website. It states that the exercises avoid any cardiovascular load but I had 7 stents inserted 3 years ago and I need to do cardiovascular exercise. I could do these in addition to machine walking.

Thanks for the advice

I am old and sick but determined to keep exercising. I have a walking exercise machine at home which at a reasonable speed I can manage for about 5 minutes. More slowly I can manage 10 minutes. I would prefer to do two 5 minute sessions a day as opposed to one for 10 minutes and was wondering if a TV fitness guru could advice which approach would be best.

Thanks but the Dr I have had at The Christian hospital is excellent and from several recent tests I have had, I clearly have a cancerous tumour which hopefully is reducing in size hence the need for the latest tests.
