I am due to renew my retirement visa in 10 days. I am looking to check what forms, photos and information I will need to supply Jomtien immigration with.
I have had over 800,000 baht in my bank for the last 12 months, I live in a house which is in the name of my girlfriend and have done my last two 90 day reports via the internet. I have not been out of the country during the last 12 months.

I have Nationwide accounts and I have had the same experience as MaxCorrigan.
I moved here over four years ago with no address in the UK. I informed them in advance and have had no problems since, with new debit and credit cards and a new card reader delivered to my Thai address.
About 2 years ago I was asked to provide a notarised proof of address, which I did.
Using the card reader for verification I have been able to make SWIFT transfers to my Thai account using internet banking - no physical documents required.
In answer to lelapin I advised them of my new address via the internet banking system.
Thanks for the info. Very useful.

I have not read all the comments here but i have a Nationwide account and it has never been a problem just gave them my new address in Thailand and have received mail here etc. and have had a new debit card sent to my Thai address, you can also access online if need be!
How did you advise them of your new address - by email or post

Thanks for all the helpful info. With all the problems with making appointments at The British Embassy I will have to give this some careful thought.
-
Not understand. One answer says I need to go to Embassy before local amphur another one says I do not.
I was married in UK long time ago but have divorce papers.

I am quite seriously ill and for various reasons I am thinking of marrying my Thai girl friend after 15 years together and want the quickest, most simple, cheap way of doing it.
This is a topic that will obviously bring all the self confessed comedians out of the closet with their supposedly hilarious comments but if I am lucky I may get 1 or 2 useful replies.

Depends on what course you are playing and whether you have a regular caddy. I was a member at Siam Country Club and caddy fee was 450 baht - I gave 400 tip and an extra 100 baht if I got to within 2 of my handicap. Used to make the back 9 more exciting for caddy and also more enjoyable for me. Seeing her face on the last green when I had just sunk a long putt for 34 points was great.
If you are the type of person who will query whether her prescence had helped me sink it and therefore justify her extra 100 baht, I would say GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

My house is in the name of my girlfriend. We have included in her will that after her death the house must be sold with one year and 80% of the proceeds go to me and 20% to her only son. If as is likely I go first then she will change the will to what she wants at that time.

Are there any UK banks that anyone could recommend :-
I am permanently resident in Thailand
I do not need a UK credit card
I have several monthly / yearly pension payments to be paid into my bank
I want them to offer a good internet service for my laptop
I want an account for making debit card payments and also a separate savings account
I am registered with the Inland Revenue with my Thai address
I will occasionally wish to transfer money to my Bangkok Bank sterling account

Why tell them?
Because they have indicated they are tightening up their internet security and will be asking a/c holders in the near future for new evidence of home address

You might get a better response in the Banking Forum.
Thanks

I have had a Nationwide Bank Account in the UK for 15 years with a UK residential address. I now live permanently in Thailand and was wondering if anyone has knowledge of whether this bank allows an account holder to be a resident of Thailand.
I prefer not to move my money to another bank as I have several pensions that are paid into it and changing would obviously cause complications.

A power of attorney is not whats needed. Will or not it must go through Thai court to obtain necessary court order awarding family member deceased persons assets in Thailand. To start process family will need to hire lawyer to file necessary court papers to obtain court date.
Thanks for advice

I had a Dutch friend who lived several years in Pattaya, recently die and a member of his family has come to Thailand from Holland to obtain power of attorney to be able to access his assets. Does anyone know of a lawyer in Pattaya who could provide this service in a professional manner.

I asked the top man at P'lok Imm last week, and he said 'As long as 800k come into bank from abroad I am OK. Lump sum or, monthly'
I am erring on the cautious and doing 66k a month, Transferwise, FTT in my Bkk Bank.
I sold a house here 2 years ago for around 5 million baht which is in my Bangkok Bank and currently aged 77 I expect to be able to draw from this for most of my remaining time on earth.
I hope that you are not suggesting I still need to bring in an additional 800k each year from England.

New rules or not supposed to be already active... but only from March 1st.
And what if he makes a trip abroad before these 90 days?
His next 90 days report could be in nearly 6 months... or later... or even never.
or 90 day reporting is online

If I put 800,000 baht in a Bangkok Bank
1 year fixed term savings account am I OK?
-
I receive more than half of my pension via 2 annual payments. How does this account towards the minimum monthly payments that are required.
