  1. I think SUV's work well here. Family outings contain all the family, holidays involve going up some very steep hills in the country, the rainy season means you are going to be driving through flood water and need the extra height.
  2. I'm starting to see a lot more red plates in my area again. (mostly 1.2mil up vehicles). I'd like to buy another car but nothing here ticks most of my boxes yet. And they are too expensive.
  3. That'll teach him. No more spending money in Thailand contributing to its economy. He doesn't look like a big spender anyway but you never know.
  4. If a driver wants to 'feel' safer while doing his job then I don't understand the negativity.
  5. But where is the motivation? Where is the fun in walking up and down stairs or running away from the soi dogs? I bought a treadmill once this outbreak occurred but its difficult not to be lazy. What works for me is to jog while watching treadmill TV on YouTube. I manage to run 6k three times per week which is better than nothing.
  6. I chose Tiger from the list as my daily drinking beer but there are many nicer ones out there. Last week in Gourmet Market I found the beers called Khun Phaen and Chao Sungthong. The beers actually had some nice flavours to them. I'm also glad I learnt more about Thai literature from an alcoholic drink (as we are not even allowed to post a picture). If it was orange juice I wouldn't have bothered to find out who the characters were.
  7. I thought one of his tweets mentioned he entered via the Phuket sandbox scheme.
  8. I'm usually good with names but i've been looking at that surname for 5 minutes and I still have no idea how to pronounce it.
  9. I'm not really a bike person and hate the noise from those lawnmower bikes. I also hate the noise from the chopper style bikes. I love the sound of the racing style bikes though like the cbr's and R1s. I feel like you can hear/feel the true power in those. On the opposite front, is anyone here (in Thailand) interested in the electric bikes like the livewire or do you think noise and presence is more important than performance?
  10. I do my fair share of complaining but I live here because I feel safer and more free than in my home country. There are also no big issue sellers or chuggers on every high street. I'll also admit I'm more of a 'catch' here. It's nice to have the 7/11 staff getting excited when I walk in. I can put a smile on others' faces quite easily. I know that probably won't last forever but it's nice to be liked.
  11. I bought a lottery ticket yesterday. I guess I must now be a criminal in the premier's mind. Keep an eye out for me on TV soon being made an example of and pointing at the ticket
  12. Based on what you and others have said maybe 64 would be enough then. The 50gb cloud space looks OK for the price. Just need to decide whether the mini with 5g and a newer processor is worth the extra 6.5k in price to the standard. Then I'll probably get the cheaper logitech pen to keep costs down.
  13. No iPhone 13 for you just yet then. I was looking at buying my first ever apple (ipad) until I saw the paltry 64gb memory in the standard models. Upping to 256 and adding a pen and the price nearly doubles. I guess I'll just do without as I'm not paying that!
  14. I think we are also due a reminder for the forgetful lottery sellers. Tickets clearly marked 80 but can only be bought at 100+ again
  15. By having a two year WP, you will now only need a health check once every two years too. Saves a bit of cash but more importantly your time.
  16. It looks like I'll be forced into panic buying today then in case other provinces decide this is a great idea too. God I can't wait until these anti-fun brigade, holier than thou dinosaurs are too old to continue.
  17. 29th November at my local university, but I believe it depends on the university. On site classes are allowed, but unlikely. Teachers have been told they will be responsible for any cases found in their classes. That sounds unworkable and unfair to me.
  18. Agreed. I had a really nice Italian last night but no wine was allowed. I know it kept the bill below a thousand but the dining experience was incomplete.
  19. When I moved here I bought a new eco car. My wife (also a uni lecturer) was a bit worried as others were telling her that we had to have at least a Vios level car. I couldn't believe how others thought it was any of their business and told the wife to return that sentiment. It's crazy to buy what you can't afford mainly to impress others.
  20. And this is what my neighbours in the UK used to cry to. As I've grown up I've learnt to wear headphones.
  21. I thought it was the oppositions job to criticise the government. Isn't that part of having a democratic system?
