edwardflory replied to InlandSea's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I have a US number ( Kentucky ) that rings on my mobile in Thailand via VOIP. It is a FREE NUMBER that works anywhere you can connect to WiFi or use your data. Voice AND text. It is a ....application.... that rings your mobile even if you are using your mobile TEXTNOW.COM I use it for my US BANKING and VOICE calls inboud / outbound - NO video. NOTE:There are several plans - free to paid. You can probably port your US number. HINT: CHECK for application updates especially.... IF ....you get a error when you call UPDATE!!!! -
Missed 90 day report
edwardflory replied to CrossBones's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Depending onthe hospital they can: Docuement you stay, Some are able to do immigration services for you If you are on your own, take ALL HOSPITAL receipts with you to immigration if you need to stay and plead your case. Some ( a few only ) have got a pass. Your chances are better with a supervisor ""SOMETIMES"". It all depends on the boffice -
If possible; Signed copy of landlords ID CARD and house book, rental agreement. Otherwise; Rental agreement, deposit receipts for utilities. NOT AT CW, have filed as POSSESSOR at 3 different offices as outlined. Also filed 3 weeks later as POSSESSOR for three 1 month long visitors, 18 minutes.

Western Brands Cut Quality For Thai market
edwardflory replied to Brewster67's topic in General Topics
I thiink it DEPENDS on where the product - especially food was made and packaged. I got 2kg of Kellogs corn flakes made in India as a test. 6 small packages of cereal in a 'big plastic' bag. Product was good and because of packaging, last bag was as fresh as the 1st after 4 months with good taste and texture. As a Yank, I try to buy several American produced and packaged - so the package says, in the US monthly, and, have had good luck for 8 years. I do buy BISTO and make sure it's imported - so the package says. I have found the MANY international brands available - not produced in original country, are NOT of the same quality, quanity or taste as made in the original country. -
Cutoff date for filing Online 90 Day Report
edwardflory replied to connda's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For the life of me I DO NOT understand why some people wait to the LAST SECOND to comply with the required immigration paperwork. In most cases you can submit your paperwork ( depending on what process ( extension and etc ) ) you need from 5 days to 45 days in ADVANCE of the "due" date. The reason you do in advance, is to give you some time to take care of ANY problems that present themselves when making your application. -
My birthday is in October, I renew extensin of stay ( retirement ) in MAY

Bank insists I wear a mask
edwardflory replied to happydays's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
As stated a bank is a PRIVATE institution. As such they can enforce " terms and conditions of service " on / in their property as rules.. Refusing service would be proper if a person does not comply with their rules. My bank requires a mask, so for 5 to 10 minutes I wear one while conducting my business. -
I use TEXTNOW APK. Unlimited US calling and receiving voice or text. Cost is $0.00 to use or you can get a paid subscription for $5.00 to keep your same US number for a year, OR $ to kill the small ads, they don't bother me. I DO my US banking using TEXTNOW. Use ANYWHERE you have a DATA or WiFi connection. ( HOTEL WiFi works fine. (or if necessary ROAMING - esim cost?

NEVER be more than 8 hours ROUND TRIP from your passport. Go to a camera store, get a color credit card size copy made, laminate it and carry with you. Do NOT ONLY have photo on mobile. If a official stops you, they might keep your phone if they want to see original passport, with credit size copy, they have your info while you get your passport. Showed my "credit card" copy to police checkpoint at our LATE KINGS viewing with no problems.

Free to Marry notary witness required at US Embassy?
edwardflory replied to Yeahrightdennis's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Just did one 1 month ago. 1) Make sure you have a appointment - via website. You will wait in line outside, Thai guard will let you in at appointment time - show proof of appointment at access window. INSIDE SECURITY: 1) NO cell phones - checked at security and put in lock bag, keep key - pick up on way out. Cigarettes, lighters and water bottles thrown in TRASH, backpacks xrayed, YOU go thru metal detector - possibility of hand search. INSIDE OATH AREA: 2) Make sure you have a UP TO DATE FORM ( they gave me one at window ) 3) $50 fee, pay at seperate window ( I paid with $50US ) KEEP RECEIPT and give / show to officer when called as proof of payment.. IF all the above correct, wait time INSIDE embassy, about 30 minutes. NO witness required. -
1st time extension of non-O requirements
edwardflory replied to Peabody's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have done my retirement extension of stay 2 days to 45 days ( depends on the IO policy ) in advance. Takes me usually less than 30 minutes - not counting waiting time, because I keep my paperwork in order and have IF NECESSARY, multiple copies of all Immigration paperwork ever received and fresh photos, including rental / lease agreements and monthly bills, bank deposit slips and etc -
When I came here I was 67, I had no problems finding a GF WITHOUT spending large cash. We went to dinner, movies, occasionally bought her clothing and etc, she rarely asked for money and then only a couple 100bt. yep we lived together and she kept her money from where she worked - 8 hour day.

My 2¢:. What urks me is if you are married, wife owns the land, there is a house built on the land, she passes, you have 1 year to sell or loose the house and land. It would be better if you were not forced to sell. A / some type restriction on land size you could keep would work, say 2 Rai or land where the house sits and 1 Rai of land. Win win all the way around and a insentative to provide a house for wife - family if any.

If a ...NATURAL... born citizen, you can NOT lawfully loose ( can NOT be taken away ) your citizenship EVEN if convicted of TREASON. You can be jailed ( normally ) or exucuited in extreme cases. A person "GRANTED" US citizenship CAN loose / citizenship can be revoked, in several lawful ways in a court of law US History 101

Thai marriage visa ?
edwardflory replied to BostonJoe's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Department of Consular Affairs will charge you 800bt, and you will wait 2 days while they check that the translation is correct. I just did this Tuesday, will return Thursday with my ......RECEIPT..... <<== KEEP the receipt!!! -
Have dealt with LAZADA over 6 years. Refunds IF you use credit / debit card are between 2 hours and 6 to 10 days, depending on problem and vendor. ALSO with a credit / debit card you have ANOTHER venue to challenge the charge, the card issuer. One time I used COD, I had a problem getting my money back, NEVER COD AGAIN. 600+ purchases, ( 1 ) one gone bad - I think a good record. ( 1/6 of 1% of purchased items ) I have had a vendor call me to ask if I wanted to cancell OR accept another item ( 100bt more costly ) for same price since the item I ordered just went out of stock due to many orders - I buy from them when possible. USE A CARD, NOT COD.
