  1. You should be on the stage, shortage of contortionists.
  2. That requirement is in respect of extensions, rather than visas. I recently obtained a Non O in UK using funds in a Thai account and I am fairly sure the same has been said about neighbouring countries.
  3. Personally I think you would be wasting your time. My bank has always given me the old book and if your bank was supposed to do the same, they may well say they did and you wouldn't be any better off. Two choices really, leave and return visa exempt or go to one of the neighbours and come back on Non O.
  4. A bit of an open ended question. The majority of opinionated dicussion comes about from contentious fact, when fact is established, debate is short lived. The issue of face masks is a prime example.
  5. Quite. It is institutional incompetence within the HO that stretches beyond the Passport Office. When the refugees from Ukraine were delayed being processed it turned out that there were only 2 staff in the main VFS office dealing with them. The Home Secretary immediatly told the House she would put more staff in place. Since when were VFS staff employed by the HO, but the MPs appeared to be ignorant on the issue and swallowed it hook, line and sinker. Things seem to have taken a real turn for the worse since the tories came to office and made Theresa May Home Secretary, she initiated the overseas passport reform.
  6. Casa Pascal was my favourite. We only go down to Pattaya now and again and always looked forward to eating there. Shame if it has been discontinued, only needed a couple of more visits to redeem the card. We were down not long ago but had family with us so went to the LK Empress for a bit wider choice. At 300 baht that is quite good and despite what some may think, in popular places demand ensures food is replenished regularly.
  7. You are mistaken. When your first 90 days came to an end there was no need to do anything, in fact depending on when your entry date there is a good chance you would not have been allowed inside immigration. For those that could not leave the country, myself included as I was also on ME Non O, there was a general amnesty on permission to stay. As the Sept deadline approached I went to immigration but could have waited as it was extended again until 31st October. I think it was about July that immigration offices started to open and it is not out of the question that immigration did an extension when there was no need to do so, but to clarify that you would need to understand the difference between the amnesty and an extension. Bangkok, 1 October, 2020 – The Royal Thai Government has extended visa amnesty for foreigners, who are unable to leave Thailand due to the country’s COVID-19 control measures, until 31 October, 2020. This makes the fourth extension of the policy, which first took effect from 26 March to 30 April, 2020. The second extension was from 1 May until 31 July, 2020, and the third extension from 1 August to 26 September, 2020. https://www.tatnews.org/2020/10/thailand-extends-visa-amnesty-for-foreigners-until-31-october-2020/
  8. The weekend sprinter service was introduced in early 2018 on a 6 month trial. it was taken out of service at the end of the 6 months but I hadn't noticed it had been reintroduced. On saying that I haven't used the train since before the pandemic. I live in Chonburi not far from the station and used the train quite often, usually coming off an overnight from the north or south
  9. I have been to more Thai funerals than I care to remember, from the very poor to the Royal Flame, even one at sea. I can assure you there can be great deal of emotion involved but as a general rule emotion is not something the Thais see as appropriate in public. You should also bear in mind that funerals in Thailand generally last a week, so by the the time the cremation comes they have come to terms with the loss.
  10. I thought it was back to weekdays only. The weekend "Sprinter" they put on was taken off and not heard of it being reinstated.
  11. You are scaremongering on the back of hearsay, and then have the arrogance to call people "mugs". If the post you are pedalling is legit, the person who made the post thought the same as you "we don't need to track the package" and look what happened. Absolutely nothing to do with payment methods, people have to accept responsibility for their actions, or lack of them.
  12. In the beginning there was an automatic covid extension, not a question of being offered. My permission to stay had run out in early May 2020 and then in Aug 2020 I was refused a 60 day to visit spouse on the basis of having had the auto extension. Like the OP I had obtained a ME Non O shortly before the pandemic. Fortunately just before the auto actually run out I had achieved the 12 transfers and managed to do the 12 month extension. ME Non O still had about 4 months to run.
  13. They would normally mark a single entry visa as being used. Usually with a stamp but may have just written on it.
  14. I don't know what you are missing, definitely something. I have been with lazada for about a decade, only ever ordered by COD. I have had many an order cancelled by the seller, you would need to explain how that scam works when nothing has been paid out. If you order by any other method and the seller cancels you have to make a claim to get your money back. If you are trying to say that some may send you something then cancel the order to try and catch you out you are making a mountain out of a molehill. Certainly not a leading scam Receiving goods is down to the recipiant and with no experience of COD you will be unaware of the need for someone to pay the courier. In order to facilitate payment I would think that most people like myself would track the package so arrangement can be made. You wouldn't receive an "out for delivery" message on a non existant order. Apart from that the drivers do not speak English and normally show me their phone. We get 2/3 deliveries a day and never been any real problem. My brother in law prepays and sometimes they just throw it over the gate. A lot to be said for COD.
  15. I fail to understand why such a comment, did you miss the bit where I expressed the same reservation. Problems occur but the reality is however under the laws of probability the risk of a problem is exactly the same irrespective of when the eyes are done. Problems are more likely as a result of choices rather when the eyes are done. The decision should really rest on how uncomfortable it would be to have one eye done and not the other. If having one eye done has little detriment to your way of life then obviously the way to go, but who is going to know. My reservation was an error of judgement leading to quite an uncomfortable 10 weeks between ops. I was going about with the weak eye covered most of the time.
  16. I wasn't too happy about both at the same time, waited till I had one done before booking the second. Bit uncomfortable for a few weeks my glasses could no longer be used and everything felt lopsided. I have seen a few people at the hospital I went have both eyes done at the same time, my wife's uncle booked a room and stayed overnight, never heard of any having problems. My half brother in the UK had to beg to get his done, his wife has MS and he was struggling to read the prescriptions. They suggested both eyes at once and he jumped at the chance, worked out ok. As they say, up to you.
  17. Of course there is a choice but you have to understand what is being offered and price does not mean best choice. Variofocal lenses are about 3 times the price of good monofocal lenses but there was never a chance in hxll that I would ever consider that option. I wore variofocal glasses for well over 40 years and have had to take a few pairs back to the opticians, not so easy with surgery.
  18. Take it you never bothered to read the post after the one you quoted.
  19. Take it you are not from the UK. You have to be virtually blind before the NHS will do it.
  20. VFS started doing UK passports after the change from FCO to HO in 2014. Proof of address was required by UK governemt as confirmation of delivery address and had to be a Thai address, I got a translation of my electricity bill. I was one of the first to apply under the new arrangement and needed embassy intervention to get it sorted. As far as I am aware delivery by international courier direct from the passport office never materialised with all passports having to be collected here in Thailand. VFS is not the sharpest tool in the box and not surprised they still ask.
  21. Quite. The bulk of the rhetoric on here is fuelled by some ill conceived idea of superiority and unlimited knowledge. TAT has a job to do and in line with every other tourist dept in the world they talk it up rather than down.
  22. You are free to believe that April 5th is a while away.
  23. Have included you in previous conversations. This is the guy that did mine. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/30357531
  24. I have had it done, I was 40K for both eyes by one of the country's top eye surgeons. I was 10 weeks between the 2 eyes and during that time the hospital had an upgrade to include laser equipment so I had one done manually and one done with laser. Rather than repeat myself I will try and include you in a previous conversation.
  25. You are aware they use facial recognition.
