  1. Are you saying the device has no port to charge the internal battery?
  2. You are getting mixed up. It says it has 4 USB charging ports which will be output to charge USB devices. It also says it has a 5v charging port which will be the input to charge the device itself. It doesn't say what type of port but probably a charger similar to a laptop. There should be no talk of lighter sockets as you couldn't possibly start a vehicle from that if the vehicle had a flat battery. It talks about a 3 hour charging time which I suspect would have to be mains, a 12v source would probably take more like 3 days.
  3. That is not quite correct, it says 99800mAh, which means that it has the ability to provide 99.8 amps for 1 hour, or 400 amps for about 15 minutes, or 600 amps for about 10 minutes. Battery technology must have come a long way to handle such large discharge currents in a small device.
  4. Why you got what it said on the tin. In the last few weeks I have made 5 bookings around Europe and 4 in Vietnam. Different currencies on listings, invoices and bank statements.
  5. The limit is in fact 100 Watt Hours and 27K equates to 100Wh at 3.7 volts, are you trying to say there is no way the voltage can vary. At 3.1 volts a device would be within the limit. It is very relevant if a device is discharged or not, but you would need some understanding of electricity to understand that. A device with no charge cannot be said to be a "spare battery". I totally accept that there needs to be rules as people doing the job cannot be expected to know any different. 1. Spare batteries in carry-on baggage 1.1 THAI allows spare batteries in carry-on baggage, with battery capacities of less than 20,000 milliamp-hours (mAh) or 100 Wh. 1.2. Spare batteries with capacities of 20,000-32,000 mAh or 100-160 Wh, passengers can take up to two packs in a carry-on baggage. 1.3. A spare battery of more than 32,000 mAh or 160 Wh is prohibited in carry-on baggage. 2. A spare battery is prohibited to be loaded in baggage checked-in in all case https://www.thaiairways.com/ar_AE/news/news_announcement/news_detail/batteries.page
  6. So easy isn't it, particularly when you have never been there before. As for going for one night then trawling around, been there and done it but you grow out of it.
  7. All depends on where the property is located and country where you have the bank/card. Booking.com will list properties in any currency you choose but the bill will be in the local currency and that will be coverted if necessary by the bank concerned. If I book in the UK I will use HSBC but for other countries I use Wise to avoid the non sterling transaction fee. My wife usually pays for hotels in Thailand.
  8. Common problem on this forum, see a few words and they jump to conclusions. You need to use the simplest language possible to point out which direction you are coming from, but not that easy. When I booked my quarantine it was 2 weeks at the time, before I returned the government reduced it to 1 week but Agoda refused to refund the difference. It took a chargeback to get the refund which was a bit of a struggle. The girl at the hotel did what she could to help and said Agoda was terrible to deal with taking too much with little in return. In the UK we say "at least Dick Turpin wore a mask".
  9. My comment was in respect of a first extension and 90 day reporting. 5. The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days. https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=1666
  10. Not conjecture, comes from a decade of forum experience. In paricular those that want to believe the media write exactly what gets said when it suits, on the next thread they don't want to believe and winge about bad reporting.
  11. Under consideration is just another form of extension.
  12. The limit is actually 32KmAh, I checked on that before I bought my last one from Lazada which was supposed to be 30K. By the time I noticed it was marked 90K it was too late to return. When I went to the UK I discharged it and put it in the suitcase but it was detected. Had to open the case and take it out before I could board. I explained what had happened and said it was discharged and they let me go with it in the hand luggage. We were late into Dubai and the last thing I needed was a problem at security so I threw it in the bin.
  13. One of the penalties of progress, the mix of plastics now makes separation quite difficult but I think they are making progress on that front. Back in the 80s I worked for a plastic moulding company and mainly made milk bottles from HDPE. We did try some bottles from PVC but not worth the hassle. The plastics don't work together and changing over created a large amount of unuseable waste. With a wider range of plastics the problem has increased significantly.
  14. What on earth makes you think they aren't. All my beer bottles go to the recycling site, and you get paid for them. I buy by the box and send the bottles for recyling in the box, you get a bit more that way rather than loose. About twice a year, all out plastic bottles, glass bottles & jars, tin cans and cardboard boxes are taken for recycling.
  15. They are not, it is more about the way they live and something foreigners find difficult to recognise. Many live on takeaway food and drink as it can be cheaper than storing/cooking food at home. This is a by product of the low wage economy and unviable in most other countries. The other aspect is in the production of plastic products which are made cheaply and as a result have a limited life. This makes them affordable and keeps people in work. As others have said, the real problem is in disposal and that is down to people and a lot more education is required in that direction. Progress, although slow, is being made, in Tops the other day I was asked if I needed a bag. We live out in the sticks and have no refuse collection. We burn what we can and everything else is stored and taken to a recycling plant. Unfortunately there are many that think the side of the road is that much more convenient.
  16. Maritime deaths in Thailand pale into insignificance compared to countries like the UK and US. The Phillipines has the worst peacetime disaster where over 4000 are estimated to have died in a maritime collision. The Titanic is the most well known incident but little to beat the Herald of Free Enterprise, a RORO ferry that set sail with the door open. My friend was 90 last week, he didn't get on and was at the front of the queue for the next one when it happened.
  17. Did you actually hear him use the word "cure" or is it something you have read in the media? I kow a lot of people that have had cancer in one form or another and none of them have ever been told by the doctors they have been cured. More likely he said something like help them live with cancer but par for the course on this forum, and the media, to distort the context to suit the agenda.
  18. It is not necessarily the content of a comment that is "fake" but the words used, such as "cure". Cancer is a controversial subject and not really fully understood. Years ago when the first claims were made over the nuclear testing in Oz the UK government went into denial mode. However research moved on and science did establish a possible link after Chernobyl, now there is a general acceptance that cancer can be a result of DNA damage many years previously. That being the case it is not out of the question that certain substances may help repair any DNA damage or slow down any further development as a result of damage. It is now fairly well acknowledged that skin cancer and lung cancer can be a result of overexposure, so what about other cancers. If there is viable evidence to that effect then there only the self appointed experts in a position to dispute it. We can only hope for more positive results from the research in the years ahead. Without that reseach people will continue to live in ignorance, in particular the natural skeptics. https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2023-11-28/debates/23112839000001/NuclearTestVeteransMedicalRecords
  19. I have read through it and I cannot see any provision for what we see as the normal 1 year Non O extensions. The 12 categories mailny cover tourists and various working type visas. There is one listing for family members, but looks like family members of foreigners with PR.
  20. You are not clear on what you mean, you cannot renew a visa inside Thailand. If you mean you arrived on a new 90 day visa and have been and applied for an extension to that visa then the extension will be taken as a 90 day report. If it was for marriage and you were given an under consideration stamp they will give you a 90 day reporting date when you back for the one year stamp. If it was retirement they should have put a slip in your passport with your due date when you got the stamp. Last year they didn't put the slip in my passport and my wife went back and asked for it.
  21. Not necessarily, if you enter on a 90 day visa and do a 12 month extension on said visa the extension application is taken a a 90 day report. Last year year my first 90 day was about 6 months after entry and done it online. Just been to immigration, they extended my permission to stay from 1st Jan 2024 until 19th Jan 2024 without any need for a 90 day.
  22. Typo, should have read "from 354", which is the highest of the current rates. The current average is 338 so there must be more nearer the bottom than the top.
  23. 24. You are perfectly free to belive that there are no expat pensioners.
  25. Indeed, over 10% of the population now on hospital waiting lists. I know some that have forked out to go private rather than wait, but not an option open to all.
