E Visa help. 3 separate plane tickets
sandyf replied to Dorian999's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You understand it wrong, I have done a few e-visas and have never uploaded a ticket. All that has been required is the flight number for the leg arriving in Thailand. There may be some variation between the visa types as there are many on offer, my experience is with Non O marriage. -
Our soil, if you can call it that, like talcum powder at the moment and it is infested with termites. I realised later that was probably the problem with the potatoes. We lose a lot of papaya to the termites and they are slowly killing the barometer bushes. Wish they would turn their attention to the weeds. All attempts to grow tomatoes was done in pots using what was sold as "compost" and that became problematic, even with domestic seeds. We are in rural Chonburi and climate a bit different to where you are. Will just keep on buying what we can get, wife won't pay for the imported and a bit hit and miss in the market, majority are only good for cooking.

A few years ago my wife and I took our 2 nieces to Vientiane, one didn't have a passport so my wife took them through the border pass control, took forever and nearly missed the bus we had into Vientiane. You need to realise it is different exits and I would think that a child would need to be with an adult and I am assuming you would need to go through passport control. It would be safer if you got him a passport, quite quick for Thais. Ignore what was said about living near the border, we are from Chonburi and no issue getting the border pass.

Never been able to get any fruit so all tomatoes have been bought here, varying from bright red to a mixture of red, orange and yellow. Sounds quite good, I have had a variety of baked stuffed tomatoes and quite partial to anything along those lines.

We grow a lot of fruit, bananas, mangoes, coconuts, jack fruit, dragon fruit, pappaya, sugar apples, pomegranites, longkhon?, squirrels are certainly the biggest problem. As far as the tomatoes are concerned it would be great to see fruit for the taking. The wildlife I referred to was more the discreet variety like insects and disease, tried spraying but plants very seldom reached the flower stage. I gave up but my wife has persevered trying to be protective but without much luck. I tried potatoes one time, grew to about 18 inches and looked great. Suddenly they all keeled over and when I pulled one up there were no roots left. Never thought of figs, may look into that.

When to renew UK passport.
sandyf replied to phetphet's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
From my post "used the fast track method" That means you make and pay for appointment online at one of the various offices. You then complete an application form from the post office and attend appointment to make submission, new passport is guaranteed to be delivered within 7 days. There is also the "premium method" where you get new passport same day and 2 "standard methods" where you submit online or by post, delivery can be anywhere from 3 to 10 weeks. -
Good advice but not just for the water. The weather has a lot to do with it, if the temperature gets too high when they flower the pollen becomes sticky and pollination greatly reduced. I gave up trying to grow tomatoes, kept losing the battle against the wildlife. Nice looking tomatoes in the photo but I would have thought a bit small for to be called "Beef". That is normally the larger varieties where you can cut a "steak" from the central section. The largest I have ever seen on a mass scale was at a market in Turkey last year, fill the palm of your hand. Wife bought some seeds, they got to about a foot high then one day the leaves were almost eaten away.

Not easy to swim upstream. Some years ago a friend of mine was going to do his first border run and said he had done his homework. He went to Poipet, first mistake, ignored the touts, second mistake, headed straight for the Cambodian immigration. They said the visa had to be paid inTHB, my friend said the official price was in USD and put the dollars on the counter, think it was $35 at the time. The IO just picked up the dollars and his passport and went away. About 2 hours later my friend asked how much longer and was told "still processing", took over 4 hours to get passport back. Lesson learned. I spent my first 6 years here on ME visa going to Ban Laem every 90 days, not a problem. After immigration bit of haggling, hand over passport, duty free shop, passport back and back through immigration, out and in 30 - 45 mins.

It way well vary from bank to bank. The only time I ever go to a bank, other than getting a new passport, is on the way to immigration and they won't think about doing anything until they see the passport. Just like immigration I end up signing multiple copies of the passport, they need one for every service carried out. I really should remember to do the bank book update at the machine, would save one. I have two accounts with the bank and this last time changed both at the same branch. Last time I got a new passport I had to go to both branches. This is the 4th passport I have had since coming in 2008.

It is an office variable. I came back a few weeks ago on new passport and new visa, when I did the 12 month extension my TM30 from 2015 was still accepted.

Arriving on new passport
sandyf replied to 10years's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You should be able to amend the passenger details for your booking online. You just go the airline website and look for find bookings, usually all that is asked for is the flt ref number and last name. I came back on new passport a few weeks ago, just handed over the new passport at the airport, stamped in no questions asked. -
The only thing you should do is go to the bank and change the passport, otherwise it would have to be done at the bank before you get the docs for your extension. Banks vary but I was about 45 minutes to change passport and the bank was empty. You don't need to have stamps transferred beforehand, only a convenience if you have significant time remaining on extension. Just do the extension with both passports, they will create an entry stamp in the new passport and then the under consideration stamp.

Bit of an unnecessary and distorted rant. Appears to me the guy wants to pump up to a tank and gravity feed to a second tank and then water by gravity feed. All quite simple, the first tank being used to remove sediment rather than any attempt to make water potable. What he has not said is how deep the well as that would determine model required, which may not be available in the cheaper brands. I use a double jet for the well. I have no experience with newer brands but not a great deal of confidence in Mitsu, I had one where the tank had to be replaced after 18 months due to corrosion but my sister in law has one where the tank didn't need replacing for about 14 years and has been running without any other problem for nearly 20 years. I have 3 other Hitachi and one of them had to have tank replaced after 13 years, not a big deal you can do it yourself for around 1700 baht for a ss tank. Other common problem is pressure switches, another DIY for around 300 baht. Not so sure if spares would be so readily available for the newer brands on the market.

NON O IMMI Visa Extension And Border Run
sandyf replied to giogio's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Why not think about a couple of days in Vietnam, somewhere like HCMC is not that expensive to fly to and being Italian you would not need visa to enter, 45 days visa exemption. A lot more pleasant and relaxing than a border run, but if you go to the border avoid Poipet. -
When to renew UK passport.
sandyf replied to phetphet's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
You can renew it any time there is no retriction on that. Mine was due in July so I went back to UK in Sept and did it there, used the fast track method and got it in 5 days. It is all about personal circumstances and what suits best. -
I would agree with that, the BBC system checks the IP and looks for suspicious IPs and blocks them. They state on the website that if you live in the UK and cannot connect with a VPN to contact them. I changed to a VPN that rotates the IP address and had a lot less problem.

Must Read Thailand starts checking foreigners' passports on domestic flights
sandyf replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You would have to explain the difference from hotels checking passports at check in. I am fully aware of how hotels operate but it is not that long ago immigration reminded hotels of the "policy". In 15 years I have taken many overnight train journeys and for every booking had to show my passport. ID has to be checked, whatever form it takes, so I fail to understand the determination by some to make a mountain out of a molehill. -
Spread the word! More Brits in Thailand can now vote in the UK
sandyf replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A bit more to it than that. When I registered to vote a couple of years ago you had to use the polling station for your last address in the UK, too much travelling for any proxy I could use. Unless they change the rules, proxy is unlikely to be any use to long term expats. -
Exactly. With Wise it also applies to devices, with the account on 3 devices I have confirm almost every time I go to the account. HSBC are also on the 3 devices but not so fussy on changing device.

If you get denied boarding feel free to come along and complain about it. I have always travelled with passport so do not need to look for an interpretation that suits. -

No government should be criticised for moves to try and reduce illegal activity but as far as this forum is concerned the Thai government can do no right. I suppose the next winge will be the traffic fines. My wife received a speeding ticket yesterday and in the text there was an indication that fine defaulters will have to settle all outstanding fines before they will be allowed to leave the country. -

The implication is you would need along with the driving licence some document to indicate why you have no passport. I would assume that something like a police report would be accepted as legal presence in the country. -

The point had nothing to do with pink cards. It was about exact name matching.
