Strange as it may seem, I think that he is right & this country will bounce back, only one problem is that the developers & us business people still have to tread water for 2 more years, many will not be able to do so & will go under or give up paying greedy Landlords when lease runs out & walk away

"Jump through hoops to stay here" Please wise up. One physical showing a year & 1,900 Bht. If not prepared to put 800,000 Bht into an interest earning, tax refundable local account then maybe should stay home in your Nanny state. I do not agree with the 90 day report (unless you change addresses) but if you want to pay 600 BHt you can avoid the trip & the waiting Health insurance can be a problem for some that have not been here so long & did not think this one through first but can hardly expect the Thai Government to cover all us oldees as contribute little & if you are working then have some protection & if young can still procure We still have one of the cheapest places to live on the globe but the more Western style you want to live the more costlier it gets & insisting on eating western food all the time will not help. running aircons all day (energy is still well priced) will make for higher costs. You can't always have your cake & eat it too

If you have full comprehensive insurance you are pretty good in Thailand. I would pay more attention to your body & ensure that you have that under control

London embassy - how to get passport back?
natway09 replied to sussex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you had a decent Embassy you would not need to send your original passport, just a certified copy -
Obviousy the guy that said we are "drama Queens" obviously knows nothing about Thai nigthlife. There would be 3 million earning nothing at present, 2 million struggling, many allied services all not even making ends meet. Then take a look at the hotel industry with another 3 million with no work or in some cases as little as 10% normal salaries & of course no tips which are an integral part of their liviliehood. What makes a country strong is also the constant circulation of monies internally & with little overseas currency also coming in & circulating as well (most foreign exchange kiosks are not even open) earning levels for the man or lady on the street are at critical levels. And do not start me on our business survival along with thousands of businesses who are not only not paying any salaries, but still landlords demanding rent which threatens the possibility that they will ever open again.

I have been harping for 31 years that they MUST put mufti cops on the highways in the traffic actually watching behaviour & lack of driving skills & risks of speeding in particular during or after rain. Driving from BKK to Tak which I do often I would see at least 25 drivers that should not be on the roads. Having the Highway brown cars parked on the side will & does achieve nothing. A cop once told me that it is against human rights ,,,,,,I say Garbage !!!! Then he said no budget for the fuel,,,,Does he have any idea what 17,000 deaths plus injuries cost this country a year????? The fuel for 300 mufti cars would not even be 20%

Work Permit - cancel or keep it?
natway09 replied to Dan Jones's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can still be a non working Director without a WP. I would surrender it for ease of future requirements -
You do not want the strings that go with a Mia Noi, just a different Geek every month.

More hotel closures expected in Thailand if pandemic drags on
natway09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Hotel Association is out of touch or fees are too high to recruit the other 9,000 odd hotels not even bothered to mention in this report. Just reporting on the big boys not a true indication -

Thailand hoteliers forced to sell up as COVID hits cashflow
natway09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The standard of 5 & 6 star hotels in Thailand is still exceptional value when compared to a similar standard in London & Australia (that have very few) of this calibre You are talking a quarter to one third the price tag across the board & service is often still better in Thailand -

Data of Thailand’s 16 million patients leaked online after hack
natway09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Any information they can gain from my records on there is pretty well common knowledge anyway or can be accessed from somewhere else. Lists of credentials are leaked across the world all the time. I had a private phone number in Oz for about 3 months & then kept getting marketing calls all the time. People & Companies sell them all over the world -
They had a big push on this sometime ago but it seems that Mr Plod no longer bothers which is strange because in the area mentioned & lower Sukhumvit they must be hurting with bars & nightclubs not putting anything into the potty at present
