Patong Police Investigate Complaints about Foreign Barbers
eisfeld replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Smart to check barbershops on a Wednesday. -
He has a history of saying one thing and then doing the opposite. Like claiming to restore freedom of speech on Twitter and then censoring people who mention competing services.

Attempted theft of my Z900 in Ban saen ,,
eisfeld replied to liddelljohn's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
There have been dozens of threads opened on this forum by various people that are completely obviously just made up stories. We can speculate what the intent behind such postings is but we wont know for sure and it could be a different reason for every person. One thing is for sure: humans like to tell stories and Thailand is full of "interesting personalities". And so one might lean a little bit on the sceptical side ???? -

Post the police report and any doubters would be immediately be silenced. You have to admit it sounds a bit... unusual. -
China accuses UK of harbouring Hong Kong fugitives

The brazen rhetoric that China is using internationally is really something. Not making friends, that's for sure. -
Why do tourists go to the same 5 or 6 places
eisfeld replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Having grown up near the Alps I also wouldn't call those mountains but it doesn't change the fact that it's a beautiful area. Time of the year also plays a role. And of course riding on motorbikes all over the place including dirt roads is a very different experience to traveling with 8 people in a van and visiting relatives. -

How can you go to Nan and not enjoy the beautiful scenery that is still mostly untouched? Nightlife? Missed the point... -
This is the same story as in this other thread where the driver tried to hit the tourist with an iron bar in the head. For some reason this fact has now disappeared from the story and no charges related to it were reported even though there is video evidence.

Why do tourists go to the same 5 or 6 places
eisfeld replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Because they have easy access to these locations (international airports). Because they can do a huge range of activities from swimming over riding elephants to shopping or partying - enough to provide a contrast to their daily routine lives and work. Because in the tourism centers it's super easy to find a good hotel. Because they can easily communicate in English. Because local transport is a lot easier. And because it's really hard to learn about places like Loei if you are not familiar with Thailand. I agree there are plenty amazing places in Thailand outside the tourism centers but I think it's easy to see why the tourism centers are what they are. PS: I wholeheartedly can recommend Nan. Especially on a motorbike. One of my favorite areas in Thailand! Enjoyed it more than the famous Mae Hong Son loop.- 62 replies

Attempted theft of my Z900 in Ban saen ,,
eisfeld replied to liddelljohn's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Why would anyone steal a bike parked in front of a 7/11? There are people constantly there and any shoppers are back out within a few minutes. No way they'd push and lift a bike like a Z900 onto a truck in time. Plus there's always CCTV. And on top all the heroic fighting. Sounds a liiiitle bit too much like a story. -
If you want to save time then you can get your renewal in one of the surrounding provinces like Phang Nga. Just call to confirm first and make it a nice day trip. Phuket has been overloaded for a very long time. Usually 2-3 months waiting time. If you have an appointment for the renewal though maybe police wont fine you during a check. Worked for a friend of mine. But no guarantees of course.

Range anxiety? Fear not! 4,183km on a single tank
eisfeld replied to eisfeld's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Maybe don't use UK gallons when in a non-UK environment. Nearly noone in the world uses UK gallons. Thailand uses metric units and so does nearly all of Europe. Gallons are one of the worst units because not only do most countries not use gallons but gallons can mean different values between countries that do use gallons. -
Taxi/Van/TukTuk drivers are the most aggressive bunch of people that I got to see in Thailand. I whitnessed a TukTuk driver trying to hit a motorcyclist with a wood plank spiked with nails on a red light. On another occasion a van driver first pushed me off the line I was in and then because I honked on the next red light came out of his vehicle and stormed towards me, luckily I was able to ride away quickly. The problem is the punishments for wrongdoing are a joke. This case here is attempted murder. Throw him in jail. But what will happen is he'll be fined 1000 baht as mentioned in the article. Boohoo just means he'll need to scam a few more passangers.

That's about as much as this Monkey which did 38.73 km/L. It's an unmodified engine so if anyone wants to go and try beat the record... shouldn't be too hard hm? ???? -

It would be 91.1 US MPG. Your numbers are rounded too much. According to Fuelly that's also about as much as a PCX 125 does but now add nearly 100kg of additional weight to carry. -
This gives Pheu Thai a dangerous incentive to convince any allied senators they might have to vote against Pita or abstain. And I'm sure they have a lot more connections to senators than MFP. Not sure if that was a smart move.
